My first taste of Pokey was "Fuck me up". I was absolutely blown away. I said this in another song comment line but it bares repeating. "A Cleaver twist back in time with a bold modern flair". That is how I would describe Pokey LaFarge. Excellent!
Pokey LaFarge is my favorite band out there playing theses days. I’m glad this cool music is coming back around.
OH YEAH! His new album in 2021 is great! He is straying a bit from his older schtick to calypso and reggae and exploring a mix of many a sounds you see. Kudos Pokey, you go boy! It's great and we love your vocal fluctuations too! Murf the Surf

I was a hit record producer, music publisher, song writer and engineer from 1969 to 1987 in Muscle Shoals AL. I just heard Pokey and his creative crew for the first time 2 days ago. I see why they turn an audience on with their music, message and stage presence. After hearing and watching them perform two songs, I was hooked. What they are doing is especially exciting for me because I understand and truly admire the creative thought process it takes to deliver moving, fun, and thought provoking music in a genuine,entertaining way - and at the same time establish a strong identity.

So, you basically worked in one of the most legendary places in music history?! Mr. Woodford, you just made me a very jealous man.
We had open doors to new songwriters, musicians and artists. So the good ones knew they might get a shot in the music business in Muscle Shoals as opposed to New Your and LA.
Terry Woodford, I hope you see this reply years later! Very well said. I only discovered Pokey LaFarge and his band a few weeks ago, and like you, I was hooked from the first song. They have a really marvelous, genuine indefinable quality. I was "smitten" from the beginning, and utterly charmed. I hope they continue for many years.
So many of my favorite old.artists coming back to life at once. Wow.
Can't get enough of him and his band. So genuine and brilliant.

They are great. I especially like the muted trumpet and the New Orleans style Clarinet (of course the rest of the guys are great!)
I wish they had zoomed in on her a bit more rather than Pokey just standing there doing rhythm while she was cookin' on the clarinet!
If I have a favorite band this is it! Big thanks to Pokey Lafarge, his band and all of us fans that keep real music alive! Thank you KEXP for helping expose this kind of brilliance!
Simply awesome. Love you guys. Saw them at Red Wing Roots music festival in the blue ridge mountains of VA last year. They killed it!! Gonna be catchin em again this weekend at the Black Cat in DC. Cant wait to have a couple hours of silky smooth homemade jams to enjoy by these guys!!!

This guy is truly timeless. I had the distinct privilage of seeing him back in Sept (10)? In my hometown of Muncie, lN. Love this guys retro vintage blend of rhythm/blues 1930's swing big beat sound. He s up there somewhere with Robert Johnson, Django Reinhart, and Arlo Guthrie s folk style sound and style. He will go far indeed. Roots music provocateur extrordinaire. Go Pokey!!!

Pokey's Americana Roots Jazz style is so fresh sounding. Almost as if he invented the style. I've been listening for a while now and he is an excellent showman.

Chloe is a real good sax and clarinet player. She played with Dale Watson on a TV show . Look up That's What I Like About The South by Dale Watson.
Russell Sova Your right, what a great sound. Dale Watson plays the best south Texas swing there is. Dale knows talent when it hears it. Chloe is great.
