      Imagine living in that house and jamming to Zep 4 album/Levee on the drums while setup in the stairwell just like Bonham. That'd send shivers down most any drummer's spine.

      Great artist, but genius is stretching things a little. Trouble with Jimmy is that he hasn't done very much since Page/Plant, wonder if the ideas have dried up, shame as it would be good to hear some new material from him. Instead of milking the Zeppelin back catalogue by remixing and re-releasing to make even more money let's have some thing worthwhile.

      Hey Ronnie, this is nothing to do with his talent but I was shocked when I learned that one of his MANY (groupie) girlfriends was admittedly a not even 14-year-old -- still a child, named Lori. Even though according to her, she "consented" - that is my man is statutory rape under US laws. Maybe in the UK (England) it was not or still isn't. John Bonham was the great rock drummer alright,but it was Jimmy's producing skills which told the world he is THE greatest rock drummer of all time

    • @kwmusic4560
      @kwmusic4560 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Page doesn't get the credit for being the amazing producer that he was. Every instrument in every Zeppelin song sounds exactly the way it should, and that's all because of Page. To this day there is no better produced song than In My Time of Dying, which Bonham also had a hand in as well.

    • @DG-sf9ei
      @DG-sf9ei 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No doubt they were ahead of just about every band in any musical aspect. If you payed attention to this vid however, you'd realize that some of Page's mastery was stumbled upon and not intentionally formed by skill or thought process, education etc,, just like placing the drum kit on a different floor elevation above a staircase. Along with placing guitar amps in kitchen cabinets to record..... It'd be more accurate to claim that Page was not a snob about trying different ideas through experimentation to see if a desired innovative sound would be achieved, which was done by process of elimination to get there.

    • @carlcushmanhybels8159
      @carlcushmanhybels8159 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! I learned from the outstanding Rick Beato's channel: While I'd thought "Levee's" drum echo and resonance came from the stair case tower resonance (and a bunch did), Page also had a 1970's echo machine on it. Rick Beato demonstrated it.

    • @DG-sf9ei
      @DG-sf9ei 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@carlcushmanhybels8159 Don't believe everything from some guy who had no more to do with Zep than a troll. Rick Beato is the furthest thing from a drummer, and no offense to John Bonham, but the bass drum rythm pattern in Levee is relatively easy to emulate without echo, and really easy for a drummer with John Bonham's skill set on drums. If you don't believe me, I'm posting a link to the original outtake version of Levee with NO ECHO effect on drums- read the description on outtake version. And you can hear John Bonham's drumming(bass drum pattern) which still sounds exactly as it is on the 4 album .

    Thats another big difference in musicians from the 60's and 70's. They had a pretty good grasp of the production of music in addition to musical talent. They knew exactly the sound they wanted and knew the recording techniques to get those sounds. Now days labels don't trust musicians to experiment and instead make them turn their work over to engineers that are perceived as "sure things"

    • @DG-sf9ei
      @DG-sf9ei 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. These engineers usually have no talent above amateur on any given instrument, but they think they know it all because they're tech junkies, not musicians, in fact they are the exact opposite of what defies a musician- someone who creates by experimentation and improv on an actual musical instrument to make something innovative and original sounding as art. A modern engineer can usually be summed up in just 2 words - tech snob.

    • @teco6964
      @teco6964 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree that the abilities of old musicians are high, but you are mistaken about the rest. Led Zeppelin had a historical engineer named Andy Jones who invented and created their sound. The Rolling Stones of the 70's are also his sound. By the way, Andy's older brother Glyn Jones was the engineer for the 60s Stones and Zeppelin's first two albums. The Beatles had Geoff Emerick, Jimi Hendrix had Eddie Kramer, David Bowie had Ken Scott. Historical artists have historic genius engineers, and their sound can be said to be the sound of an engineer.
      Steve Albini, who unfortunately passed away the other day, was a genius engineer of our time, but just like musicians, it is true that the music industry has become difficult for geniuses to utilize their talents.

      @@teco6964also want to add, Jimmy Page is not a dime a dozen. He does not represent most other artists’ production skills of the era. He was a session musician for years so he was very versed in studio techniques going in.

Jimmy Page had amazing ideas and especially love his acoustic playing!!Houses Of The Holy and Physical Graffiti are truly his greatest works.. In my opinion they feature his best playing. John Paul Jones’ keys and string arrangement are insane , I think they’re the two albums where he truly shined the greatest as well.

    It's fascinating to think of all the great music tracks made in that mansion, much of Zep IV, Houses of the Holy and Graffiti. Boogie with Stu done with an old piano in the parlor missing keys. Headley Grange was a working house built in the 1700's for the poor and was the site of a famous riot and labor strike in the 1830's. So that place has some interesting history, notwithstanding the enormous role it played in hosting monumental Zeppelin recordings.

    Jimmy choose places that are not so scenic, not somewhere to truly relax and enjoy. It was so, that the band and the assistants won't have the feel of 'they're on a vacation'. That they can just concentrate on work and do so fast. They get the recording done and wrap up quickly because they wanted to get away ASAP. Less time, less money, less fuzz. Genius!

    it's true, my first amplifier was a tiny practice amp, i used to practice in the bathroom because it gave me a much bigger sound. the thing about all four zeppelin members is they were all well seasoned musicians at a very early age, it's like the beatles refining their chops on the road before becoming an "overnight successes". but that aspect of zeppelin's well defined musicianship is often overlooked, as if they just magically appeared.

    Mas esse lugar com ctza tem uma aura diferente sendo q foi gravado um dos maiores álbuns de rock de todos os tempos.

    Jimmy Page is a Musical Composer directing the band. It was his band. Just like Nikki Sixx is Motley Crue ( with a lot of help from Mick Mars). Genius and spot of the moment improvisation. No band can touch them.

    • @mrsoikawa
      @mrsoikawa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm still trying to figure out how on earth Nikki supposedly "composes" though. I'm really curious. I think he might hum Mick a riff and ideas and Mick plays it, otherwise there's no way Nikki should be getting songwriting credits.

    Jimmy Page saw a ghost at Headley Grange back in the day! Wonder if he saw the same figure in 2008.

    • @brianlongshore3105
      @brianlongshore3105 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      GreenerHill you're right, I've heard interviews going back to the 70s about how Headley Grange was haunted. I heard Bad Company talk about what they saw. It was even said there was a ghost of a Black Dog. I believe it was Bad Co. that talked about that.
