    How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a TH-cam channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin.
    Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like.
    These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
    How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

    The orange color comes from a mixture of pollen and oat rust known as “Puccinia coronata”, the mower itself isn’t rusting through

    I have to say, You and Nick Welker do an excellent job on you videos. I know between farming and video editing, it's extremely time consuming, but I and your other 232K subscribers greatly appreciate all that you do on the farm and informing us how a farm works. I really think these videos will encourage our children to either farm as well or support our local farmers. I definitely do every year buying locally. Thank you again for all you do!!!

    I was in some heavy stuff this weekend with a rotary cutter. It was not a fun time and very slow going. We don't do alfalfa or silage so no need to invest in a mower-conditioner. Sitting under a rotary cutter in the hot Texas sun pulling grass out of the rotors, because you were going too fast isn't fun. Sometimes (always) I learn my lessons the hard way. I also get to learn those lessons multiple times. The mega wide pick up on those John Deere balers are incredible though! It will go through an windrow no matter how heavy. Lol!

    around here the hook a disc mower to a self propeld chopper cut and chop the oats at the same time and load it on a trailer and make silo that way it gives a lot less of dust and dirt in your silage.

    The cattle will come running for those wrapped bales. Good luck with a great 2nd crop and over 100 bales on the oats. Do you stage the oats for winter pasture feeding. Feeding will be a snap with the JCB. Looks like hay will be at a premium with lack of production.

    If planning on expanding cattle herd, you may what plan on putting tricale in fall for spring baleage then double crop Sudan-sorghum. Could get 2 cutting of Sudan-sorghum. But that’s my 2 cents, hope to it helps

    • @ceemorebuts
      @ceemorebuts 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there are some variety that are baleage ready around June 1st but understand delayed corn and soybeans planting will cause problems, but planting rye or tricale could bee harvest as grain if delayed in baleage, if there’s a market,then sorghum or millet
