For anyone struggling to learn this, I would recommend slowing down the video to .75 speed and just focus on learning the main chords with your right hand first. After you learn the right hand chords, work on the bass notes with the left hand. I would also recommend singing along, so you can be sure your timing is accurate and natural sounding. Lastly, just work on one part at a time. For instance, master the first verse section before you even begin to learn the chorus. I'm pretty average at learning other people's songs, and I have found these strategies to be helpful.

Whatever works for you though man
I learned Goodbye Yellow Brick Road this way. It helps a lot to sing along to make sure im not going too fast or slow, and the piecewise learning approach makes it much more manageable. Also, if your still a beginner/ approaching intermediate, take breaks between learning new parts of the song. It took me ages to get the little up and down movements on the right hand, and at some point you practice so much that you start to hurt your own progress. You get tied up in the wrong notes, and your hands get tired, etc. Your brain will remember the notes better the morning after anyway, or if you practice in the morning and then at night.
This just makes me love Elton even more. Playing it is the easy part, mastering it is the more difficult part, playing it while singing is the Elton John level.

Been sight reading all my life and now learning to play by ear. I could figure out the basic chords and stuff but it wasn’t quite right. Thank you Hugo! I happily paid for the sheet music and now reverse engineer lol back to my decent sight reading skills! Trying to now name each chord now that I finally understand chord progression. There are a few in this song I still don’t quite get but it’s all finally making sense to me and feel like soon I won’t need to be dependent like I was on having the music in front of me. Getting the vocals over it is crazy hard but Elton is a genius 😊

I love Elton's piana playing & singing for 48yrs. & counting! I cannot afford to take lessons as I'm on a fixed income. Maybe when covid goes away, I can take lessons. On feb.1st,2021 I was vacuuming my house & I accidentally knocked over my piana, & he broke not repairable! It's bad enough that I lost 11 Family members in the month of February in a period of 26 years; & now, now my piana,that's #12(even though he's an inanimate object, not a person). And 3 nights ago that my cd player died on me; so I cannot listen to my ELTON! I guess God is testing me, or I have bad Karma or a mixture of both! I'm keeping a good attitude; as I know there are people WAY worse off than me, God help them! I don't know when I can get a new player as we're expecting a big snowstorm tomorrow & I can't drive in bad weather( nervous driver). So now I'm going to be without my ELTON for God knows how long. Just a little life lesson. I still have a good attitude & I know I'll get my player soon & can listen to Elton. I'm not even thinking about the piano right now still hurting from his breaking! Sorry for being so long winded!
