I can remember like it was yesterday. This guy took my playing from average to intermediate almost instantly. His boxes really unlocked the guitar for me. It was like an explosion of licks just came out of those boxes for me. That was 8 years ago. I learned all this from his free stuff on TH-cam. Can only imagine what his course would have done.

To all you people complaining about the tuning, if you can't handle him being a half step down, then you are not ready for this stuff anyway. It's really not a big deal. Are you just going to play these licks in the key you learn them? No (I hope not) learn to move the licks around.

littlejon64 To me AK has a richer Gibson tone while SRV has a wiry Fender tone. They are both great tones, but AK's tone is well-suited to his style which uses fewer notes and more bends.

I think its important that you tell players what gauge string you're using. 9s, 10s, 11s are going to play differently. Apologies if you've already addressed it. Thanks
Forreal I think that's why Stevie's licks were extra raw and tastey heavy guage strings amazing how he was able to hit those bends wit strings that heavy

One thing that should be emphasized is that when bending notes, it's CRITICAL to bend up to the correct pitch. I notice in all these videos, that the instructor almost always bends sharp, bending past the desired pitch. It takes a lot of practice to perfect bends, which is evident here. This guy is an awesome teacher with great videos, but even his bends are almost always sharp when he bends the high e string up a full step. Ear Training is a must! Thanks for posting....JM
I'm just starting out. At the 4:11 , top E bend, how can I avoid the B and G strings flicking under my third finger and ringing out? It happens everytime I bend a up a full step on the top strings. I tried a low action and high action, nothing fixes it. Must I palm mute the other strings to do any bends? That doesn't seem right and it is difficult to palm mute specific strings. Help please. Thanks. Good lessons.
Bend with the pad of your finger trapping them not the tip which makes finger go under them mate You will cheese wire slice your fingers to start with though if they are not used to bending like that
Hey, I'm just asking but then isn't it better to learn Albert's licks and how he used them by transcribing his solos rather than buying a lesson? Not to say yours is bad but developing an ear is the only real way to get better at music right?
If you have the time to do it that way AND you're able to teach yourself AND you learn primarily by ear..... then yes. That's how I did it. But I was a college student with tons of free time. A lot of people don't have the time to learn that way, are not self-learners, and learn by observation rather than ear.
@@Texasbluesalley But still learning by ear is how all the greats before is did it. Are there any new players of repute who learn otherwise? Also working people can have enough time. Depends on your job of course but if you have 2 hours a day to practice that's more than enough, which if this is a priority in one's life, they can wake up early to put in that time. After ive heard Alberts licks, I realized that SRV really just alot of Alberts licks and maybe not so much of hendrixs

you will never get the right sound unless you flip the guitar and pull the strings down. Listen to Eric Gales if you want the real thing
you can't get Albert's correct sound unless you're pulling down on the strings. just like nobody can ever copy the late great Jeff Healy
