The guy who wrote the comic actually helped write the first movie. So in that sense it was still the original property, but it was not the first Kingsman thing to come out.
There were some pretty significant changes from the comic book to the movie. For instance, Colin Firth's character was Eggy's uncle in the comic book, and the nature of their relationship related to that felt different. Also, the Gazelle was a very large man - not a woman - in the comic book (I think a war vet? It's been a while since I read the comic book). The bad guy, played by Samuel L. Jackson, was actually a young man who had no lisp. I'm betting that was added strictly for comical reasons. Other than those, there is quite a bit in common with the comic book, from what I recall. I enjoyed both the comic book and the movie, and am looking forward to the sequel. I would have liked one of the actor's in this interview to have at least mentioned that it was a comic book first, because so many people don't know about it, and it's important to acknowledge source material.
As much as I enjoyed the interview, I feel quite bad that Poppy gets overlooked. This keeps happening in the interviews cause she isn't getting any questions/the generalized questions still don't apply to her
