Sleeping Dogs was the first PS3 game I bought and what a gem it turned out to be. Still in my annual rotation of playthroughs and I would be all over a proper sequel even now.
@@DevinJHiggins I played it on Xbox 360 but then I got a PS3 and bought it but I sold my PS3 years later cause I needed money. I guess you can say I still have it but the PS4 version. The only problem I had was the hacking parts but then I understood how to do it. I still know how to do the hacking.
I vividly remember the E3 trailer for Prey 2. It was jaw dropping. And don't forget that Sleeping Dogs was itself the resurrection of a previously canned franchise, the True Crime series. It stared life as the unrelated Black Lotus, was then renamed True Crime: Hong Kong, before being cancelled and the publishing rights being sold to Square Enix
Black 2. I'm not sure if it publicly got cancelled, it just disappeared never to be seen or heard of again. And most people these days don't even seem to have heard of the first game. I love it though. It was a first person shooter way ahead of it's time, with insane world destruction. I have it on PS2. Black 2 was rumoured for development for the PS3, this was back when PlayStation magazines were a thing too.
Sleeping dogs itself was originally a cancelled a game. If i recall it was supposed to the 3rd entry in the true crime franchise titled true crime hong kong
Sleeping dogs is a banger! I still have it and download it once in a while. It still holds up! It's a shame we didn't get a sequel. Admittedly, I didn't play it on release. I hadn't even heard of it until I randomly brought it.
The main story was quite generic actually and female characters were terrible and events like wedding were really rushed. Not to mention fight system was really tyring, it took like five ages to kill a single guy with bare fists.
I tried to find Sleeping Dogs on my PS5 last night, but it doesn't even show up on the store. I assume compatibility is an issue, or I'm missing something, but :/ I randomly started thinking about how used to play Definitive Edition all the time and just how the mechanics of the game work in general. It has a feel unlike any other, even Yakuza I think the closest comparison is the legendary True Crime: Streets of LA
Freedom Fighters 2. I'm not sure if it was ever actually canceled but it was originally announced as coming in late 2005 and hasn't come out yet. I would love Knights Of The Old Republic 3 and Sleeping Dogs 2. While I like the shadier side of Star Wars I prefer the light grey side to the dark grey side (My standard D&D character alignment is Chaotic Good) so Outlaws seems much more my kind of game then one starring Boba Fett who I have never had much interest in. A few others I would have liked to see include the original Privateer 2 (What we got was originally planned as a separate similar game while Privateer 2 would be set much closer to the original instead of more then a century later in a section of the setting never mentioned before with only a couple of loose ties to justify calling it Privateer 2)
Prey 2 would have had the craziest plot, at one point finding all of your dead bodies from through out the game piled up in a room you were told not to go in. Would have been a interesting twist
I think there was once a Darth Maul and Darth Talon game once in development. I remember reading it in a Gameinformer article. It was supposed to be an M rated, action adventure
@@NobleChevalier point taken we could say it should be on a list for video game never finished then 😀 Personal opinion: Genesis was terrible (and technically a prequel since it's set before the 1° game) but I loved the other 3, I was hoping for a D4 with Strife to see what happen to him during the main story and maybe a D5 with all of them as a grand finale 🥹
I know I'm probably in a minority here but Nintendo's cancelled N64 espionage title Riqa and Wii title Project H.A.M.M.E.R. still hurt a lot IMO...and man, I really wanted to play Starcraft Ghost, KOTOR 3, 1313, Prey 2, Timesplitters 4, Titanfall 3 and Sleeping Dogs 2
Sorry, “Death Stranding” may have had the same veteran gaming genius Kojima and Reedus onboard, and it’s a fine piece of art, but it’s no consolation. I woulda given my second and third nut for the powers that be to have sat down together, breaking bread and bottles of Saki, and come to whatever the hold up was and give the public what it actually wanted in “Silent Hills”. I believe Kojima had his reasons. I like Konami and all, but their business practices and bright ideas over the last, maybe…15 years, left a lot of us scratching our heads.
Prey 2 was probably cancelled because it wasn't a Bethesda styled game or the devs wouldn't rework the gameplay into a Bethesda styled game. you know, the same game they've been releasing since TES: Oblivion way back in 2006
I remember seeing the Prey trailer back when I was only starting out as a gamer and thinking it looked like an absolute must play..and then one day years later wondering what happened to it...and then finding the truth with a quick Google search. Sleeping Dogs 2 has gotta be a very close #2 though
Blur 2 would have been a really cool game, they even made a new engine for it and it looked insane, the game was already in development when it got shut down.
Maybe with the current technology of PS5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch, maybe someday we can hopefully see some of these cancelled games coming back. A person can dream right?
Funny that Kojima has labeled himself as a scaredy cat despite working on P.T. When that was also the exact reason why Tecmo decided to put Suda 51 behind the wheel of Project Zero 4. He admitted to being a scaredy cat, and they figured what better person to make a horror game.
George Lucas sucks at imposing names. I mean you gotta be whimp to an extreme degree to be intimidated by a bounty hunter with a silly name like Buba Fett.
I still remember that SC Ghost hype... But the one game on the list I really would like to get is Sleeping Dogs 2... But honestly, even a remaster would be fine with me personally.
Bethesda saying "not up to their standard" and I hear "we never want to let any studio make better game than us". Like Obsidian did with Fallout New Vegas, likely because Bethesda believed they couldn't. Then latter asking Bethesda, if they could make TES game and getting no in return. :-D They did unknowingly made better than Starfield game with Outer Worlds... now they only need to make better than TES game with Avowed and they got full set. :-D
Live service is one of the worst things to ever happen to gaming. It’s success led many a developer down the same road, sucking all the life out of the games in the progress.
These videos always serve to remind me that video games are an industry and industries are run by people in far off offices and board rooms who rarely care about the product, only its profit potential. Of course things like marketing strategies and financial gains are essential to keep any business successful but time again we see companies trying to tell the public what they want versus trying to deliver something with cultural legacy or just pure entertainment value. Yes, I've grown cynical. Yes, this comment is very cliché. But no, I'm not wrong.
Probably niche, but for me it's definitely Alice Asylum, sequel to Alice Madness returns. The team that started the development tried to buy the rights but I think EA did not let them so that still struck me hard.
I would love a game that you don’t play a jedi or has no Jedi in it, would be great, especially if it was a rated M game but from what I know the only games you have like that is clone commando and the original battlefront games.
Still salty over Fear Effect: ReLoaded getting the axe as I loved that franchise as I had and enjoyed Fear Effect, and the prequel Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix for my PS1, along with being disappointed that the 2nd prequel that was supposed to come out for the PS2 Fear Effect: Inferno which would've focused on lead anti-heroine Hana prior to the events of Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix aka focus on her early mercenary activities prior to her meeting Rain and the rest of the team from Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix, and I enjoyed Fear Effect: Sidona. Yeah I was hyped for Fear Effect: ReLoaded when it was announced and was following the game during it's development and disappointed when the announcement that it was cancelled was made.
The Prince of Persia Remake deserved better then what people gave it. Instead of a great game at a fair price with unique graphics, we got an 80% chance of getting an overpriced, micro transaction riddled mess that is going to kill the POP franchise for good.
I still want a Sleeping Dogs 2. I still have the first part but have not played it in years.
Everyone should own this game.

That means there's 2 Dlc's in Sleeping dogs Definitive Edition: The Lunar Year and The Halloween Undead DLC's.

Timesplitters 4 is the game we all need right now 😢
Sleeping Dogs, Split/Second, & Beyond Good & Evil should all be franchises
I still play split/second weekly. Disney drops the ball again. They don't make racing games like this anymore
Thank you so much I was certain no one played split/second! Moment I started playing it I fell in love
that opening scene in Prey 2006 with Blue Oyster Cult playing don't fear the reaper is still one of the best moments in gaming EVER!!!
Black 2. I'm not sure if it publicly got cancelled, it just disappeared never to be seen or heard of again. And most people these days don't even seem to have heard of the first game. After all these years, that line stays firmly stuck in my head.😁

The closest thing we got to Battlefront 3 is Elite Squadron on the PSP. Surprisingly, its a pretty decent game. Nobody ever talks about it though

How we get a gollum game but can’t get a sleeping dogs 2 🤷🏽♂️

The Saboteur 2 would have been nice, rip Pandemic Studios.
"Please, please, please; make Scalebound!" is what I would say...
If number 1 isn't the original Prey 2 by human head studios, I'll be mad. The game looked better than cyberpunk and it's like 10 years old now.
Almost all my most wanted cancelled games were on this list except Scalebound.
I still want a proper follow up to Brothers in arms: hells highway.
Glad we got the World of Darkness mention. Sad that never happened.

Canceling Sleeping Dogs 2 was the True Crime on the Streets of Hong Kong.
Good to see starcaft ghost here...I would add getaway 3.
Was just gonna say the Get Away 3
I want my sleeping dog 2. Like come on. Why do good games make the game publishers allergic to money?
Maybe because True Crime Hong Kong was a massive commercial failure that failed to recoup it's development budget let alone make a profit
Star Wars 1313 and Gotham by Gaslight are the two that get me the most. Spoiler: 1 of these is not on this list.
Freedom Fighters 2. I'm not sure if it was ever actually canceled but it was originally announced as coming in late 2005 and hasn't come out yet. Sleeping Dogs not getting a sequel is such a disappointment, especially after the awesome trifecta of DLC story campaigns.
Prey 2 cancellation will never stop hurting.
The cancellation of American McGee’s Alice 3 still hurts. I will never buy an EA game again!
I stopped giving EA my money when I realized what a soulless cash grab Sims 4 is. I won't give them another penny.
KOTOR 3
I still hold hope that it will be released.
Pretty sure we ALL want sleeping dogs 2
True Crime, Sleeping Dogs 2, SSX next-gen, NFL Street sequel, Dead Rising 5, Prototype 3, Prince of Persia sequel, etc.
Prey 2 would have had the craziest plot, at one point finding all of your dead bodies from through out the game piled up in a room you were told not to go in. Would have been a interesting twist

Disney has killed so many things that I'm starting to think they may well be a branch of the government.
Darksiders and Beyond Good & Evil should have been on this list. I'm still hoping against hope for a sequel for both 🤞🤞🤞
Darksiders has two direct sequels and a spin-off... I mean don't get me wrong, I'm down for more, but there's plenty of Darksiders content out there
