Just a real quick video today. Time got away from me this week but still a nice big addition to the stack. I love molten Copper , It's one of my favourites to pour especially in this cold weather, something a bit different, but really much the same in this one. So sit back relax enjoy the quick video and hope to see all you beautiful people next Friday for a longer vid I'm sure 👋🏻😁
Nothing like a good copper melt! With your videos I don't care about the time, on a lot of other videos I won't set aside anything more than 30- 45 minutes. With yours, if it was 2 hours, I'd watch it, even if I had to wait until evening or break it up into 2 parts. I'm sure you'll get a variety of answers, I'm retired so I have a lot more free time than many people. However, I still have things I have to do. I don't watch TV or watch new movies anymore, so these videos and others are my entertainment. I hope my fellow Americans are enjoying a 4 day weekend! Everyone else, have a great weekend!
Back in high school in 80 our metal shop teacher showed us the old school method of laying down lead on car body panels to make custom details or fill dents. He had a whole bunch of those irons of different sizes to do the work. They were antiques then from the turn of the century. He was an artist with metal.
As always buddy, much appreciated mate. Yes I can’t just keep doing blocks all the time. I have started to print some stuff out now that my 3-D printer is working again so hopefully I can bring the kiln out soon and do some lost PLA casting as I’ll be able to do a lot more intricate pieces if I do it correctly , so stay tuned to my friend👊🏻😁.
My granddad had a soldering iron that looked like these, except it was electric. He gave it to me and later I used it in high school to make a stained glass project. Way back in the day when you could bring one of them pointy behemoths to school and not get into trouble (I graduated in 1992)
Magpies are so smart & it’s lovely to see people treating them well. They only swoop strangers in nesting season so the more they see & like you, the less likely they are to swoop you. I used to take walks in a park near my old house all year round & call out to the maggies. The “worst” they ever did was fly from tree to tree to follow my walking path to make sure I was still safe (& that I was leaving in the usual amount of time).
Nothing like the sounds of owls and crickets in the night mixing with the hissing of superheated copper doubloons burrowing through ice blocks. Top tier as always!
Another first...I think...19:15... Hello back at you..Mrs.BigstackD...Thanks for sharing your husband, and Doggos with us ..👋👍 BTW..MY Dad was born in 1915.. would have loved your creativity..❤
I don’t know what is up with TH-cam, constantly hiding my own subscriptions for months at a time, picking random channels that I’m currently watching and not showing me their videos, but I guess it’s my own fault for not checking each individual channel I’m subbed to. Anyways, it’s nice to see these videos again.
Stop using the the home page and go straight to subscriptions tab when you want to watch what your subscribed channels are doing. The home page is nothing more than random junk that may or may not be completely irrelevant to your interest, does not matter from youtubes POV as long as you keep on doom scrolling. Subscription tab is what is most important to you and the channels you are subscribed to.
@@MaaZeus The subscriptions tab was the one that was giving me problems, I did as suggested, subbed and unsubbed from every "invisible" channel and it fixed it, I dont know for how long, but its fixed, for now, I even purged a few subscriptions from dead channels. Either way, thank you.
Watching the wood turning section and all I could think was the phase "...if you're brave enough...". And for those of you stuck in the same gutter as my mind. Congratulations, you're not alone.
When I saw you pull out that screwed-up crucible, my thought process went something like “No. No way he’s going to force that to hold molten-oh. Ohhh. That’s genius!” I shouldn’t have worried! You’re smarter than that!
I love watching skilled people work their craft. You keep it simple with little explanation, but i actually learn. Love your content and its 1 of 3 that i actually watch right when it comes out. Coming at you from Chicago. I appreciate you! ❤
Great video today. Now thats a chunky soldering iron!! I love a good coin melt to. Youre stack keeps growing. Well, today is my first day of my 4 weeks of summer vacation. Man i love my country. 🇸🇯norway🇸🇯❤🇸🇯
hey folks its friday, and here they come. waiting for video, you are superstar who makes our friday awesome. love your backyards, garden. love from INDIA...
Just wanted to say thank you. When the BigstackD snack fairy put your lunch in the rafters of your shop. You hauled out a collapsible ladder. I didn't even know they made such a thing. I bought one and it is great! It's easy to store, and easy to use.
Good morning from Californias beautiful wine country! 😄😄😄 🎉🎉🎆🎆🎇🎇🧨🧨Happy Independence Day to all my fellow countrymen and friends all over the world!🧨🧨🎇🎇🎆🎆🎉🎉
I've got one of those old copper chunk soldering irons! Was using it just a few days ago to solder the spout back onto a galvanized steel sheet watering can.
Nice little melt Big D! Sometimes the little melts are just as interesting as the big melts! Some nice old soldering irons you have there! I had to laugh when you put up "Big, chunky and bloody ugly" That's me to a T! hahaha Have a good one brother.
Will do buddy cheers have a great weekend mate. I’ve been watching your progress on the shed TV so can’t comment unfortunately but haven’t missed an episode👊🏻😁🍻🍻
Thank you for a much more reasonable 30min melt, bigstackD! The monster melts are nice and all, but they get a bit fatigueing one after another, and I am sure they are a nightmare to film and edit too!
Hi friend ! A quick hello from France to say that I'm almost sure these are zinc soldering irons. I had the opportunity to see him at work at an old craft fair. It was widely used by roofers of old for roofs and gutters. I hope I have enlightened some who were wondering “what are these things?” Thanks again for your videos and see you next time.
Explosions all night outside my window (who am I kidding, they're fireworks) but now I get to watch MELTING in my face (and spy planes, and super smart birds)! Good Friday to be had.
Hi Mr. Big, i was thinking that a copper sphere might make a nice addition to your collection. Also it was cool watching you make a tool in stead of deconstructing. ❤❤❤
That’s definitely the plan, I’m gonna need to get some silicon rubber to make some moulds from these ones otherwise I will just 3-D print them and then cover that in clay and burn it out in my kiln and pour into the empty clay mould. A lot of people probably didn’t like the fifth element film but I thought it was great👍🏻. The element stone video will definitely come out this year and yes it will be more than likely done in different metals or I’ll just do slightly smaller versions and do a few sets in different metals. That’s probably a better option.
@@bigstackDFifth Element was a great film. Longtime Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman fan. When I was in the Army I was told I looked like Bruce Willis. Even had people come up and ask for autographs. Not lying, when I was wearing my glasses, not so much, but when I took them off and put in my contacts, they said I looked like him.
The monkeys have a ruff life only getting 23hrs sleep a day, Liked the big iron maybe fill the hole with brass and stamp it then would look cool, enjoyed as always Mr. Stack
Absolutely epic, I love those heads, deffo great to keep some, pretty much ready made ingots👍That foam affect was crazy! Loved the finish product loads. Great improvisation without a lathe but I'm not even going to mention what it looked like spinning on there 😂🙈🙈
Greetings from northern Nevada USA. Lovely melt, I love the copper melts. We have “red flag” fire conditions this week, your melt would definitely not be permitted! Lots of small brush fires last night from illegal fireworks celebrating our Independence Day… 🙁
@@PerseidArchimedes what prize did I win? I always try to watch the background in your videos! I remember seeing a clown peeking thru a door on a 360 shot at the old place, always cracks me up! Your videos are great

Short ones are nice too.
Did you stamp your own makers mark in the circular void on the new soldering iron heads?
As always I love these videos. Also for displaying your copper soldering irons have you thought about mounting them to the wall
I prefer the shorter ones around 1/2 hour. The longer ones require planning to watch because of how busy life can get.

Ohhhh copper melts are my fave!
I dug one of those up in my yard, didn’t know what it was until this video, thank you.
It's great to just sit back, relax, and have a beer while watching you melt stuff.👊
Pitch black night, roaring furnace, green fire, owl hooting in the background and a tattooed guy casting skull coins.. :D Spooky ASMR at its best.
