Woah!! This is such a cool video! I love historic and interesting places like this. It looks so quaint. It looks so cold there! Brrrr. But glad you didnt get stuck up there. I like a bigger plate as well. I do like that the food is made from scratch💜🤩😍
Evening Alan. Enjoyed this review as I've never been here but after watching I'm now looking at a cheeky night away there. Like you I don't mind waiting for food that is cooked fresh and from scratch. Great review of what looks like a lovely place to visit 🎉
Been wanting to visit for years, yet it is only 38 miles from home but took me over an hour to get there, as the roads are really small. You do feel really cut off up there, almost 5 miles to the nearest village and that is tiny too, so no competition for that as regards price. The food was great but for what I was paying I wanted more. I hope you make that overnight away. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Looks a bit chilly there. The food looked great! My kind of meal. I've heard about those domes. Could be a fun experience sometime. Too bad about the trash about. beautiful views otherwise. Nice job on your comprehensive review. A little pricey but doable. Have a great day.
Been wanting to go there for a long time and would love an overnight stay in one of those domes but the food was a bit on the expensive side, although I di enjoy it. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Thank you for showing me what its like there, plan to visit in couple of days time after driving through buttertubs pass. Hope they get to watch this and beef up the hotpot, i am a big eater as well. Great car you have there btw, must have been fun enjoying the roads and scenery there with it.
I hope you have a wonderful stop there and we would love to have an overnight stay there ourselves, as it oozes history, something I really enjoy. I found the food expensive but very good, so it would be nice to try their Full English in the morning as well. Have a great stay and thank very much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, cheers Alan
Yes, I took my time on what to order, which may have been a mistake as while I was differing, a party of 11 came in and all ordered before me - grown! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
I do like the look of this isolated location Alan , those people that got stuck in at the Oasis tribute in the snow must have had a lovely time up here, we would have loved it 😃The food seemed great but I agree for £20 It could have done with a bit more beef, that hotpot looked delicious, just had one ourselves tonight coincidently and the dessert looked so good too. It's great that you can wildcamp as well but such a shame that people don't clean up afterwards. Good that you gave an honest review 👍~ Anna
I remember it on the local news when they all got snowed in up there and when they were interviewed they all had a wonderful time and some disappointed when they were rescued lol. The have their own snowplough up there so they can keep the roads clear but even that was not good enough last year,. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Where’s the beef! 😂😂😂 What an awesome place! I’ll tell you brother, that plate would have been plenty for me! The older I get, the less I eat in one sitting. I like to have multiple small meals throughout the day! Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed watching!
Funny enough, I am the other way, the older I get the more I eat lol and what was there was great, especially the way the weather was outside, mid August and that wind was baltic. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
That seems like a really cool place to visit, being that it's the highest inn in the UK. The food looked pretty good. You guys have different kinds of desserts out there, and the one you had was pretty unique! Yeah, I would definitely like to see you come back here and stay the night!
Oh I love a fruit crumble, especially with some cream as well, so that was right up my street, the hotpot was idea as well as it was blowing a gale outside and that wind was cold. I will be back with Mrs Metalman for an overnight stay at some point in the future. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hi Alan! Great review and great location! I think I’d like to skip the main dish and go on to the crumble desert! Looked delicious with the fresh cream! Your beef dish looked delicious too! Great ambiance in a charming old building- it does sound intriguing to stopover for a night… maybe it will e warmer and you could also take a walk. Hi to Mrs M! Cheers, Jen 😄🌟🌟
It was warm at home yet 40 miles up on the Moors it was baltic but still such a great place to visit and you feel like you have been transported back to the 17 century (when the Inn was built) when you walk through the door. Food was great but expensive for what it was but I still enjoyed it all. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Would be great to be snowed in there with a good crowd! Fun times. Looks like it was going to snow on your visit! That’s quite the wait for the food! The beef looks really tasty, aldente veg too, perfect. Like the wolf and whistle poster, very classy. Do you have to pay extra for a clean spoon? It’s an all day event eating there! Would be amazing on a clear night. Thats a shame about people not tidying up. Mmm blackberry or gooseberry would be nice for the season! Great score. Popular spot in the hols. 👍
I remember it on the local news, they all had a whale of a time and thing they were disappointed when the snow relented lol. I was disappointed with the spoon, really no excuse for that, as it is just a basic but the other one on the table was clean. Ohhhh gooseberry is by favourite and we had a bush in our back garden for years, always got a good crop, then one year for no reason it just died - I miss gooseberries :o(. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN so hard to find gooseberries these days. Something else to miss since growing up! Another great review and think the Trapped in the Tan Hill was my favourite news story ever!
Hi Alan, Nice review👍. We have a much loved photograph of Pete's late dad on our wall where he is sat outside the tan Hill Inn with their family dog. We always say we should go, but haven't gotten around to it yet. The domes look very cool! We would love a stay in one of those 🤩. It is such a shame when people leave litter behind, we will never understand that. Unfortunately the few often ruin it for the many. Food did look delicious, although a little on the pricey side. But great overall atmosphere👌. Thanks for taking us along. Have a great weekend, Shell and Pete 😊😊👍
Thanks a nice memory and it would be real nice to get up there yourselves one time. Totally agree on the litter and the the pricing up there but they have no competition, so I suppose they can charge what they like and it was busy when I was there too. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hope you enjoy it Paul and funny enough we are going for an overnight stay next month and really looking forward to a return visit. Thanks very much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, real good of you and very much appreciated, cheers Alan
It was very tasty but expensive for what you got but then again, I am a big eater. My first ever visit but I will be back and have Mrs Metalman with me next time. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
I stayed there overnight with a few friends for my 50th birthday. Many pints of Old Peculier and a lovely steak. The Old Peculier tastes better there than anywhere else. You, planted a seed in my mind ...... 😁
Sounds great and I hope you do go back, I really liked it there and the food was great but for I paid I would have liked bigger portions of both courses. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Funny enough, I am going back again in a couple of weeks for an overnight stay with Mrs Metalman. I am keeping my fingers crossed it is not boarded up when you get there, as I paid up front :o). Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
That place is awesome. I wouldn’t like the wait though for my dinner. But as long as they told me how long it would be and I agreed it would be ok. My problem would be that I’m a fast eater and I’d be done in a few minutes. Ha ha ha. Then another 20 minutes for dessert. Hmmmm. I’ve got no problem paying top dollar for an excellent meal either. Those domes would be fun but any room there sounds good to me. Thanks for bringing us along. Love the reviews. 👍👍 stay safe my friend.
Yes I would love an overnight stay there, especially in one of those domes, as is is a dark skies area up with with nothing else for miles and miles, so no light pollution at all. The Inn dates back to the 17 century and as soon as you walk in, you feel like you are being transported back in time. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
I did that walk to Keld years ago but didnt go into the pub(was quite full)............great to see what its like now though, used to be a load of scrapped vehicles dotted around that place, glad to see thats been cleaned up.......whats wrong with people leaving litter ten yards away from bins, beyond belief........................You can still certainly 'clean' a plate mate ha ha.....another honest review Alan and as you said out of school holidays it would be much quicker service. What a spot to view a clear night sky I agree, would be fantastic..............Nice one Alan.......ATB......Stu/Wendy...👍👍.....Hi to the Mrs........and I think I see a birthday tribute so I'll nip across to leave a greeting.
I would love an overnight stay there, especially in one of the domes but as soon as Mrs Metalman heard about the shared facilities, it was a no go but she is still up for an in Inn stop, as long as we have a private bathroom. Really round me up that people dumping their rubbish next to the Inn, especially as they have been given permission to camp there. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
It was blowing a gale up there, so difficult to do any outdoor filming and to be honest, I was pleased to get inside for the warmth lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Sounds great, it was packed when I was there and they were even turning away people for food at all the tables were full, with some having to share a large table. I enjoyed the food there very much just disappointed with the price I had to pay for two courses. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Yes, dating back to the 17 century and you can really feel that when you are inside, we really need to book and overnight stay there. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
I've not been there for years, Alan. Great video. That looked delicious 😋 Lovely nosh. ❤ Just tramps with no respect that leave rubbish behind 😒 Often end up picking litter etc when I'm out and about. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it and I normally pick any rubbish up too that I see but to busy yakking to the camera as always but it is such a shame people disrespect the place like that. The food was very nice for with a drink I paid £32 for 2 courses, which I think is a bit steep. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hi, Alan, I really would love to see Mrs. Metalman join you for Hotel Review. She is a gem to your channel haha. Well done. They seem to serve UK's traditional Countryside cuisine. I am interested in a dorm. How did Mrs. Metalman think of pet friendly? I hope you can have a look for next visit. Well done, Alan
That would be so cool to stop there overnight and next time I am there it will be with Mrs Metalman and hopefully an overnight stay as well, I really enjoyed it up there, miles away from anywhere, a great feeling of freedom. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
It was, I had no complaints about the food, just the price and portion size, as I am a big eater but still enjoyed what I did get. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Another very fair review Alan. I love the way you make yourself eat it all so that you can give the food a fair assessment, what a sacrifice! When I saw the menu and the pricing it was obvious you weren't in Wendys, but when it's pricy you expect quality. I thought you were very patient, 2 hours for 2 course meal is really not what you'd expect at those prices - it's ok if you've company but if you are on your own it would seem like an eternity. As for the Domes, I'm with Linda all the way, Andrea would be exactly the same but I can see the attraction! Shame about the litter too, probably very hard for the staff to monitor but it's a reflection on our society - they throw it away because they won't take it home and there's no penalty enforced for doing it - £100 spot fine would sort it!! Rant over, you're very good at these reviews and hope you do get to go back for an overnight. Regards, Ashley
With you 100% on the spot fines, there are enough cameras about now and it should be enforced vigorously if I had my way. I enjoyed the food but not the pricing but up there they have no competition for miles and they were busy too, which they will think, why lower prices when we are getting the custom. I hope to be back mind and for an overnight stay as well. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hi Alan Hope you and Mrs Metalman are both well 😊 Hard to believe it's August, we've not had much of a summer Food looked delicious, making us hungry watching this, empty plate tells a story a story Blackberry would have been nice in the crumble. Not cheap though for pudding. How was the gluten free choice? A fabulous, honest review Why do people leave rubbish, it really annoys us. Why just not take it home. Bet those domes are fab on an evening, Jo's with Mrs Metalman on those with having shared bathrooms. Hope you're having a good Bank Holiday weekend, sorry we're only just watching this. We've just got home from our Summer adventures so catching up on all the recent uploads.
I was kicking myself when I got back as I never asked about gluten free or vegetarian but it was super busy and the young lasses were fly about, so it slipped my mind. The food was very nice but for what I paid I did expect more of it. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
It does look amazing there Alan, the food looked lovely but as you mentioned not the cheapest. But not bad if it's nice, I'm with you I'd prefer the gravy a bit thicker.
You can say that again, very disappointed with that, luckily there was another one on the table which was nice and clean. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
0:20 It's starting to get cooler in Canada .... 2:41 I'm starting to get hungry myself ..... 3:45 2 more for me, please ...... 4:32 I like my beef moist ...... 7:15 Better than Wendy's? ....... 10:45 That look's neat ..... 14:25 Now I'm craving apple pie ...... 15:00 I'm gonna fetch something to eat.
Much better than Wendy's but also a lot more expensive too unfortunately. Despite it being mid August the wind outside was baltic, so that hotpot and the open fire were both very welcome. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
We took a party of about 12 up there for a car owners club tour about 12/13 years ago. I think the landlord has changed since then. The food was OK but some of our party had finished before others had started their food. The drive from Richmond through Reeth, Gunnerside, and Keld and over the moor to the Inn was fantastic.
On a sunny day that's the road I take up but went a more direct route up this time, as the weather had changed for the worse. I suppose if you get snowed in there, a good time to do it is when you are snowed in with a band and you are n Oasis fan. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Pudding looked delicious, main course let down by small chunks of meat.Dirty cutlery would put me off completely. Many restaurants, eating establishments have a member of staff whose job is to make sure the cutlery is polished/spotless.lnteresting review 👍.
Yes, I was disappointed by that spoon and to be fair that is basic stuff to check up on but I was so hungry by the time my food came, I let it go, as there was another clean spoon there. With you on the beef, it was nice but I would have liked a lot more of it, especially when you are paying £20. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
We've got a few iconic locations that many tourists can't wait to get to for a meal...but the prices are ridiculous!! The locals know that just a short distance one can get the same meal for half the price...and bigger portions as well. Yup, if I am going to pay premium, I'd better have my plate over-flowing and leave very well satisfied.
That's the problem up there, they are miles from anywhere, so have no competition and they do get a good custom, so you had to pay top dollar. I did enjoy the food but for the price I was paying I was expecting a lot more of it. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
If you head back to Reeth, park up there inthe village and then walk to the begining of Frammington Edge thats a super walk. I do like the Tan Hill in I either drive up thre or on my motorbike. I like it, the food is nice, but the service is slow. Always has been. Portions are slightly on the small side and they have a captive audience, so do up their prices. End of the day they have to make some money
I used to be in walking group about 15 years ago and one of our go to walking spots was up and around Reeth, so many good walks start from there and always back for a canny pint as well as (as I remember) The Black Bull - happy days. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Thanks for reminding me, as if I do a proper review I should look for a veggie option and ask about gluten free too, both of which I totally forgot about. The food when it came was great but for what you got the price was (imo) expensive but up there they have no competition at all. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
To true Col, it never ceases to amazing me the rubbish you see people has just left behind. When I see it (to my shame I forgot this time - to busy yakking to the camera) I will pick it up and bring it back with me, but it should not be like that. Take care buddy and thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Haha, yes, 3 days there would have been canny, unless you were paying for 3 days food, at those prices I would be bankrupt lol! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Haha, I always reply to every comment, I think it is only right if someone has taken the time to watch and comment, the least I can do is thank them and reply. Thanks very much for watching, appreciate it, cheers Alan

It does look amazing there Alan, the food looked lovely but as you mentioned not the cheapest. But not bad if it's nice, I'm with you I'd prefer the gravy a bit thicker.
Thanks very much for watching Gary and the food was great but yep, too expensive for my taste but up there, they have no competition, cheers Alan
Another lovely review Alan, if I'm not mistaken, the spoon could have been a little cleaner or is it just that kind of material!?!
Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
great video my friend
That's good of you John, appreciate it buddy, cheers Alan
👍
Thanks very much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Dang - the food looked good to me. A bit better than Wendy's lol.
A lot better but a lot more expensive too, so swings and roundabouts I guess. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Really surprised that a hot Pot would be cooked to order! Nothing for vegans sadly
Thanks for reminding me, as if I do a proper review I should look for a veggie option and ask about gluten free too, both of which I totally forgot about. The food when it came was great but for what you got the price was (imo) expensive but up there they have no competition at all. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
£20!?!?!
Haha, yes, that's what I thought too :o)
Always some scum that have no respect for the outstanding beauty they are in.
Great review by the way 🤘
To true Col, it never ceases to amazing me the rubbish you see people has just left behind. When I see it (to my shame I forgot this time - to busy yakking to the camera) I will pick it up and bring it back with me, but it should not be like that. Take care buddy and thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Did you see the jar of pickled mobile phones?
Oh no, I did not see that, I will have to go back - good excuse :o)
probably take their time with the food hoping you'll drink more 🤨try & time you're next visit so you get snowed in 😂 you'll need a few ££ on you .
Haha, yes, 3 days there would have been canny, unless you were paying for 3 days food, at those prices I would be bankrupt lol! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Overpriced for a Child's portion. If you reply I will subscribe Lemmy man.
Haha, I always reply to every comment, I think it is only right if someone has taken the time to watch and comment, the least I can do is thank them and reply. Thanks very much for watching, appreciate it, cheers Alan
