  • I give RealFlight v9.5S a try with the Turbo Timber Evolution and discuss the new E-flite 40mm F-14 Tomcat and DRACO. RealFlight v9.5S is the Steam edition of RealFlight and is available for download rather than using a physical DVD disc to load.

    They did add some planes I was excited to see however, it still lacks so many great planes that are seemingly popular. Hopefully this version was just something they could release while working on a version 10 with all of the planes currently being offered.

      For me at least, it has pretty much all the planes I want. The only exception would be the E-flite Cherokee or the 1.2m warbirds of which there is only the P-51 on the market today. From the E-flite perspective, I think the brand is well covered. That of course leaves the door open for a lot of other models. With 9.5, I mostly flew the 1.5m P-51, A-10, Habu (as part of prepping for the RC Flight School video series), Twin Otter, and EC-1500. All of which I have in my hanger. I rarely ventured too far from those models.

    i have a real flight system from 10 years ago. our current computer doesnt have a dvd drive. so how can i hook up the old radio to updated softwARE

      not sure on that one, you might need an external DVD drive. That is what I do on my Mac (not for RF since it doesn't work on a Mac). The latest versions don't require a DVD anymore as they are Steam downloads. You might be able to get a code that allows you to take your old serial number and update it to v9.5S which then allows you to update to Evolution. I don't know how far back in versions they allow that. It is a one time use option to upgrade older versions.

    I heard somewhere that the interlink dx controller needs to be plugged into a powered usb hub to work correctly. Do you know if it needs usb 2.0 or usb 3.0? I bought the game and controller and should be arriving in a couple days so need to get the powered hub now

    • @BRGT350

      I am not sure as I run mine directly into the USB port on the computer, which is a very old computer. I don't use a hub for the transmitter.

    Pros and Cons? The older system I had, I sold after a year or so. If I understand you can't resell it? Or can not even put on another pc that I have? Why do some not like steam? But prefer the disc. Thinking about getting 9.5s or 9.5 version

      I am pretty sure you can contact Horizon to have your license removed from your name to allow you to sell it. I think it is a one-time deal, but not sure. I don't think you can install it on multiple PC's, but that is a good question if you have the same Steam account on different computers. I haven't ever tried that since I only have one computer in the house that I can run RealFlight on. The other computers are either for work only or a Mac. Not sure why people don't like Steam, but I think there is an age group that doesn't understand what Steam is or how to use it. I used to prefer a physical disc, but now that I am used to having Steam, it is nicer to not have to store a bunch of discs. I have some really old video games, MS Flight Sim, and RealFlight all from Steam and it has worked great!

      @@BRGT350 thanks for the reply. Here is horizons reply I just got back.... so if the computer goes bad like mine has in the past it would be useless.
      Thank you for contacting Horizon Hobby. RealFlight 9.5S is now installed through Steam no way of transferring the Steam key once it has been activated. It is a onetime activation.
      Best regards
      Bonnie

    Did you fly the version 8? Is it worth upgrading?

    • @BRGT350
      @BRGT350  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I started with version 9, so I can't tell you how it compares to 8. I had Phoenix RC Sim prior to that and RealFlight is light years ahead of that. One of the big advantages to upgrading versions is to get current aircraft. I know have more planes in the sim that match the planes in my hanger, so I get to practice on my planes over the winter.

    Ok, we've established the software can handle circle flying! I just installed Realflight Evolution via steam... coming from RF6 many years ago, it feels pretty much no different. Meh.

    • @BRGT350
      @BRGT350  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, that is how I fly my RC models so the sim demo is pretty accurate for me ;) I went from v9 to 9.5 to 9.5S to now Evolution and for the most part, I don't see too much difference in the physics. It is the additional aircraft and changes to the menu functions in Evolution. Going forward, new aircraft and flying areas will be available for separate purchase instead of needing a new version.

      Because they pay developers poorly so they can't find anyone to update to current technology.

    Hi,I bought the 9.5 a few months ago and it is still in the box. I read somewhere that I could turn in my serial number and get the 9.5s software for free. How does that work? I have never used a simulator before and I have all winter to play with it.

    • @BRGT350
      @BRGT350  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe 9.5 is fully upgradable to 9.5S, just as 9.0 was upgradable to 9.5 as a downloadable upgrade. I will see if I can find out some specifics on how to to the upgrade because I am receiving this question often and would like to have a better response back to those asking.

      be ware: once you upgrade through Steam you no longer have the oppertunity to install with the RF9.5 disks you bought. they are worthless. you only can down load to your pc or another one by loging onto Steam and installing there. I am having a fit trying to do just that. I don't want Steam installed on my pc but cannot, repeat CANNOT find how to down load from Steam on their website. good luck. I wish I had never upgraded.. ever....

    Dieser Schrott ist eine Zumutung! Schlimmer geht nimmer! Da kann ich nur abraten und nur eine normale Flugsteuerung und Software dazu empfehlen.
