    I make my bodies only 1.5-1.75mm thick (almost always from ABS or ABS pro/+). Being that they're too large for a single print, I make sure to put my cut-lines so that I don't need to print w/ a lot of support. If need be, I'll design custom supports so the print is more efficient. After printing, I glue everything together, with homemade ABS glue. I also lay 3/4oz fiberglass inside and use the ABS glue to bond it to the shell. The material is >.5mm thick so the final shell thickness is close to what you're achieving from a print. However, the final shell is exponentially stronger than without the cloth. Depending on the type of vehicle this goes on, I'll even spray the inside with FlexSeal rubber coating. It does add some extra weight, but if it's just a shell body it's no big deal and the shell gains even more strength and resilience. For exterior finishing, I brush acetone over the shell with an acid brush. Don't let it sit, keep it moving until dry (acetone evaporates). This doesn't take long, but don't work in large sections. This helps reduce the exterior layer bumps far faster than sanding. I, then, media blast it and clean it off. If need be, I'll repeat the last 2 steps, over small areas. What would normally take a day to sand only takes about 45-60min. You also, don't need to use filler primer and sand and prime again and again. Krylon Fusion primer, a light sand, and I start spraying as normal.

    You should try blender, the subdivide function help to remove side effects when printing big models with 3d not fine enough. Looks fine even!

    Is it your camera or is the car short like that compared to the 3d file? It looks like its stretched

    • @scaleaddiction
      @scaleaddiction  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to stretched for my 8th scale chassis

    • @rcbodyshopfr
      @rcbodyshopfr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1/8 châssis (off road) are not "scale" that's why it not easy to make realistic body. Trick is to make little higher . I think focus is rather nice stretched

  • @almonster2066

    How come the body is so pixelated. You need to export the model with a much higher poly count so it prints smoother. Also super glue and baking soda can help fill in all the gaps better and add strength.
