Other alternatives to live are: Union City, Jersey City, North Bergen, Guttenberg, West New York, Hoboken, Secaucus, Kearny, East Newark, Harrison, and Newark (near the Penn Station) if you work in Midtown Manhattan or Lower Manhattan and needs to commute there. And if you work in Upper Manhattan, a good alternative would be Fortlee.
Don't move to Harrison. The illegals steal all of the parking spaces. At night,an out of town illegal picks them up for a night of DWI while you remain imprisoned at home doing your Macaulay Culkin thing..The Mayor and the Town Council won't get rid of them because they need the votes.

My first week in NY was in 2013 when I retired from the police in England. My son and I came for a week in November. We returned in 2014 in order to see the Thanksgiving celebrations - most English people have no idea what Thanksgiving is all about. I returned in 2018 with my new partner and her teenage sons. On every occasion I have rented properties in Weehawken. The Manhattan skyline views, walking along the Hudson at night listening to the waves lapping on the beach, getting away from the madness of Manhattan, Weehawken is amazing.
Really !! Lol o I have lived here all my life and I have to say that yes the views are perfect but parking is a headache , taxes are high , rents are expensive , property taxes through the roof and counting, traffic jams because of the Lincoln tunnel and the neighboring towns , ohh and some roads can not be accessed during peak hours of rush hour , must have a resident parking permit for your car or get towed away plus summons by police , infact any town on Hudson county is just expensive and the locals are being priced out which is a fact. Say maybe 15 to 20 years all of Hudson County will be the towns for the wealthy only . Good luck
Billion dollar views, super easy transportation by ferry or bus.. weekends you will get to NYC in 15 or less by bus, rush hour is rush hour so get over it. Some of THE best restaurants and much, much more. As a realtor for a decade plus in this area I will say it has always been a pleasure introducing this and the surrounding towns to New Yorkers & out of towners. Come by.. you'll love it.
Weehawken is still pricy because squatters (settlers) try to beat the system by avoiding cost of living in New York Boroughs but commute to the city every day. On the bright side, it’s like an in between of everything. It’s cheaper if you have a roommate or two and either work two jobs or one good job.
Raised to age 5 1/2 in Weehawkin. Alexi Barona thats what i meant union city nj. But yes unfortunate bout the ACME, even tho there isn’t any in nyc i still like that market quite a bit, intresting products compared to key food, shop rite or w.e else that’s available in Brooklyn
Not to be that person, but no mention of the either Hamilton or his son dying in duels here? I mean Weehawken is picturesque, but he's a ten dollar founding father.
@Latoya Jones its very simple...there is NYC...and NYC metro......the latter overflows into 3 states....The commute time from NJ neighborhoods along the hudson to manhattan are similiar to other boroughs depending on where you live! Same thing with conneticut although to a lesser extent!

According to United Van Lines, New Jersey is the state most people are moving away from in 2018. I plan on moving out soon too. My big reason is the high outrageous taxes. NYC must really be bad if you think any part of Jersey is better.

McElhinney65 that’s awesome you love Weehawken! 😊🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧
I’d rather live in Weehawken (and the surrounding towns) than many parts of NYC. Native NYer and...I’m over NYC.
Forget owning a car, since parking is impossible to find.
Facts!
Parking in easy in my neighborhood!
Not true.
Weehawken was once a railroad stop on the old New York Central RR and O&W West Shore line where was a terminal and tunnel before the light rail
Weehawken is a very nice neighborhood in New Jersey and it has great views of the Midtown Manhattan skyscrapers! I love this video a lot!

Now a ferry to Rockaway Park from where you can see both magnificent Sunrise and Sunset both over the water. ( In winter)
Will put it on the list
It's affordable, but so far out. How long does it take to get to Manhattan on the ferry?

How is it making harder for everyone else here ?

I can't believe I missed the opportunity to buy a property for $200k in 1998,in Weehawken, that property is worth now half a million.
truckero ortiz half million....those are the cheap homes.
Same all over hse price all up
I cannot believe a $200k investment in 1998 only turned $500k tbh. Should be 10x at least if you invested in anything else

DO UNION CITY ,NJ
Pollution, crime, high taxes…. What’s not to like?
I'm here because of the cartoon CentralPark
The rent prices omg expensive 2-3 grand a month no thanks ugh
