The Rosary saved my Grandfather's life in World War 2. He was Praying the Rosary in an attic in Aachen Germany and two other soldiers were talking there so he left the room to Pray somewhere else and shortly after that a mortar shell hit the wall where he had been standing killing those 2 Men. He had many close calls where he was Miraculously saved by God and he credits him and his family Praying the Rosary for him surviving the War! Thanks be to God! If not for God's protection through the Rosary my Father and I wouldn't be here today!

At the age of 76 I walk approx. 6 miles / 10 kilometres almost every day … I have formed the habit of saying the ROSARY from the HALO APP on my iPhone using my earphones - following the Mysteries carefully explained by BISHOP BARRON … it has drew me closer to our Blessed Mother indeed thanks in no small part to Bishop Barron. 👌🏼 Now as a Deputy Grand Knight with the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS in our parish I often recite the Rosary approximately 20 minutes before the weekend Masses from the pulpit. Hopefully more churches with the presence of the K.of C. will consider this practice. ✝️

My husband was diagnosed last December with stage 4 prostate cancer, first I bought a small statue of St Jude , and we began to say a daily rosary. My husband had treatment radiation and hormones and completed 44 days of treatment with radiation two days ago, he has done so well, NO side effects at all, his attitude was amazing, when you have faith it becomes easy to be optimistic, and we both were full of Joy in such a hard time for us.
The radiologist and oncologist said my husband has done amazing and is feeling wonderful, never underestimate The Power Of Prayer and the rosary 🙏

I fall asleep while praying the rosary! Better than counting sheep! I like what the Little Flower, St. Teresa said:
“I should be distressed that I drop off to sleep during my prayers... But I don’t feel at all distressed. I know that children are just as dear to their parents whether they are asleep or awake, and I know that doctors put their patients to sleep before they operate. I’d never before heard it said that one’s faults did not distress God, and I was overwhelmed with joy when I did receive this assurance. It gave me patience to endure this life of exile. It was, too, the echo of my inmost thoughts. For a long time I had realized that Our Lord was more tender than a mother - and how well I know the depths of tenderness in more than one mother’s heart! I know that a mother is always ready to forgive the misbehavior of her child.”

The part of the rosary that I am absolutely connected to and moved by is when the rosary tells me, the Lord is with her. This for me means Mary's Son is there in her midst hearing us talk to her, request her intercession. I feel it in my inner being that Christ is indeed with her, always hearing our interaction.

Growing up, we were encouraged to talk to God like we talk to people. The rosary is very repetitive. Then in a dream, I was inspired to start praying the rosary more regularly. Instead of saying it orally I start saying word by word in my head. It took 3 to 4 times longer. For each mystery my imagination and emotions started to come in play. There are things you read or heard about like unconditional love but it is on another level when God shows the true meaning. Pray with your mind , heart and soul with the righteous intentions and attitude Our Blessed Mother will be there to guide you. May God’s Grace shower all who prays the rosary

I converted to Roman Catholicism in 2010. I can remember, learning the Rosary, one of the leaders saying that it's not a speed contest. He said that it's far better to pray one decade with sincerity and consideration (considering, thinking in depth) than racing through five. I've prayed it daily ever since the same way; if I don't have time to do five I'll do what I can, slowly and thoughtfully. I had had a background in Zen meditation and rejoiced the day I learned that the Rosary was also a tool to deeper spiritual life.

When we visited my grandparents (on Mom's side of the family) Nana would open the door and the rosary was always in her hand. Then she would put it in the pocket of her apron. I am sure once we left, she would take it out and continue. Being Portuguese, our Lady of Fatima statue was in her home, in our house and now in my home (oldest daughter has one too). I would miss Mary if she wasn't in our home. (The statue traveled with us in our RV when we moved to another state, I would never let her go with the movers!!

My grandfather, a British Catholic of Irish heritage, carried the Rosary beads with him throughout WW2 and I’ve no doubt he prayed the rosary. Both he and his brother, who was in a different regiment, both survived. They accidentally bumped into each other in Rome after the liberation, and rolled the streets with joy and seeing each other after all the years they’d been separated and totally joyful that they’d both survived the horrors of war.
My grandfather witnessed people killed right in front of him. Yet he survived.

I remember seeing her pray about 5 times a day (beside daily Mass) while I was growing up and I wondered but refused to join her when she asked. But now in my late 40s I am pretty much doing the same thing as she did, praying for myself, my family and friends and others ❤ and when I ask my children to pray with me , they reluctantly do so and only agree to do 3 Hail Mary only. Stumbled on you and happy to find this. I’m a cradle Catholic so nice to see calm and true conversations. I do both justice and the rosary….but I will admit as a woman I have adjusted the prayers a bit. I am aware of our traditions and how we have been given our prayers and still they all come through human beings and there are human errors, mistakes in translations and our Church does change over time. Women in our faith….perhaps this is the challenge of our time? We only know the past through stories and across time the stories do change.

My greatest experiences praying the rosary was when I set my alarm for 3am, making sure not to wake entirely from my sleep. Sit and with my eyes closed...semi awake and go through the mysteries. The point is to meditate on the mysteries and Like Bishop Barron said, the Hail Marys become like Gregorian Chant offering a shield of protection while at times, wonderful and painful times you enter into a dreamlike state and are transported into the mysteries. I recommend this for anyone who wishes to experience the rosary in a new way.

This is the way I prayed the rosary during my childhood (translated from Ukrainian) "Mother of God Virgin, rejoice, blessed Mary, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, for you gave birth to Christ the Savior, the Redeemer of our souls" So, I was surprised when I translated it. I used to just say the words and my mind would wander around. I like that instead of "Hail", we say "Rejoice". I had no clue the last response was so different from the English version.

No. Prayers are always answered, not in the way we sometimes expect.
It may come with the grace to cope with the problem. Ask atheist how often depressed they are , these are what a Christian do not suffer because of prayers.

@goodman4093 No prayer are not always answered. Yes sometimes other good/blessings may come about that we were not praying for but quite simply prayers are not answered. Example: people pray for end of suffering, conflict, pain, distress etc, etc and they die with suffering, conflict, pain, distress etc, etc. It can not be argued that those prayers were answered.

@user-wo7rz3yn4o if your prayers are not answered, maybe it is time for you to discern (a different form of prayer) .
For instance , prayer(mumblings of words) can not wish conflict, disaster, or wars away. In this case, discernment (prayer to action) is needed to know how to fight that battle.
Edit: during covid years, it was through prayer, I heard God the father spoke to me "eat garlic and onions" then I obeyed(action). A few hours later I was cured. AT other times when sick, I discerned I needed to visit the hospital.

The Amazonian bishops got it. Someday, perhaps, we will even follow Jesus’ example of appointing mature married men as bishops, successors to the Apostles.

Because meditation is the key. You don't pray the Rosary by just saying the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, and Fatima Prayer. You meditate on the life of Christ as you pray them. When Catholics recite the twelve prayers that form a decade of the rosary, they meditate on the mystery associated with that decade.
If they merely recite the prayers, whether vocally or silently, they’re missing the essence of the rosary. Critics, not knowing about the meditation part, imagine the rosary must be boring, uselessly repetitious, and meaningless.
It is the meditation on the mysteries that gives the rosary its staying power.
The Joyful Mysteries are these: the Annunciation (Luke 1:26-38), the Visitation (Luke 1:40-56), the Nativity (Luke 2:6-20), the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:21-39), and the Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:41-51).
Luminous Mysteries: The Baptism of the Lord (Matthew 3:13-17), The Wedding at Cana (John 2:1-11), The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God (Mark 1:1-15), Jesus’ The Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-13), The Institution of the Eucharist (Matthew 26:26-30)
Then come the Sorrowful Mysteries: the Agony in the Garden (Matt. 26:36-46), the Scourging (Matt. 27:26), the Crowning with Thorns (Matt. 27:29), the Carrying of the Cross (John 19:17), and the Crucifixion (Luke 23:33-46).
The final Mysteries are the Glorious: the Resurrection (Luke 24:1-12), the Ascension (Luke 24:50-51), the Descent of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4), the Assumption of Mary into Heaven (Rev. 12), and her Coronation (cf. Rev. 12:1).
As you pray the Rosary, eventually it would not just become a simple and repetitive prayer.
Ps. According to Matthew 6:6, Catholics understand that true prayer is not about seeking external validation or admiration from others, but rather about having a genuine, heartfelt conversation with God. The verse warns against “practicing [one’s] piety before men in order to be seen by them” (RSVCE), as this approach yields no reward from God. By embracing this understanding of Matthew 6:6, Catholics can deepen their prayer lives and cultivate a more authentic, intimate relationship with God. What I don't understand is what is your understanding of this verse's connection to the Rosary?

    • @ladybrunette
      @ladybrunette 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@brucedavenport7016 Psalm 136 is a hymn of thanksgiving in the Catholic tradition, attributed to King David. It is a liturgical psalm, often sung in antiphonal fashion, with a refrain that emphasizes God’s everlasting mercy. It is a rich and meaningful hymn in the Catholic tradition, praising God’s goodness, mercy, and enduring love. Its refrain, “for his steadfast love endures forever,” is a powerful expression of faith and trust, emphasizing God’s unwavering commitment to His people.
Just a little trivia about the praying with beads, the Catholic prayer beads, commonly known as the Rosary, have their roots in early Christian prayer practices. While its exact origin is unclear, historians agree that the use of beads for counting prayers dates back to the 3rd century. Christian hermits and monks in Egypt, known as Desert Fathers, used stones or prayer ropes to keep track of the 150 Psalms.

@@ladybrunette You're repeating the catholic justification for using repetitive prayer.
The Bible says don't do it.
It doesn't matter that you call it "meditation"
The rosary mentions Mary 14 times.
Matthew 6:6 says "pray to thy father"
There is no scripture that even infers you should repetitively "meditate" to the mother of the Son of God.

No one comes to the Father except by the Son. Jesus only gave us one model prayer to pray. Of course that doesn’t mean it’s all we pray, but it’s clear the format of prayer is to pray to the Father.

Very good question; worth researching. All the works of the church fathers are available to read…I’d encourage you to read them. But here is just one example:
      John Chrysostom
“The synagogue is worse than a brothel…it is the den of scoundrels and the repair of wild beasts…the temple of demons devoted to idolatrous cults…the refuge of brigands and dabauchees, and the cavern of devils. It is a criminal assembly of Jews…a place of meeting for the assassins of Christ… a house worse than a drinking shop…a den of thieves, a house of ill fame, a dwelling of iniquity, the refuge of devils, a gulf and a abyss of perdition."…"I would say the same things about their souls… As for me, I hate the synagogue…I hate the Jews for the same reason.”
