  • This is not ours, but this was one of my fav TV shows when I was a teen and it is great to see it back on. This is one of the very original episodes with Gladiator Malibu and Joe Theismann from 1989. I have included the Intro, game description, show Outro and station ID. Zap was my fav. I wanted to marry her.

      Does your brother still have any video from back in the day? Like home movies of him training for the tryouts or anything?

    I use to always watch this show. It aired on Sunday afternoons on Channel 3 in Sacramento.

    Man, I loved this show!
    BTW, this particular episode had TWO contenders going down with an injury (Phil Carrol, who injured his knee in the Powerball event {as we see around 4:22}, and Joanna Needham, who injured her shoulder in Assault and aggravated it further in Breakthrough & Conquer).

    My favorite TV game athletic show I enjoyed this version better then the one hosted by hulk hogan this was so much better thx for the excellent upload.😊

      The Hulk Hogan version tried too hard to be like American Ninja or those other stupid shows where it was almost impossible to win, and the goal of the events was to see someone fail. The Original American Gladiators was difficult, but not impossible.

      Oh, my. You were a young'un!
      I will say, U.S. or U.K., no reboot will ever match the original.
      Don't care if they have flying piranhas on a fire lake of hydrochloric acid, I hate reboots (only seen one ever that was worth anything), and AG reboots just don't have the charm of the original.

    Best athletic game show devised. Some of these events need to be made into standalone sports.

    Why did Joe Theisman, and be replaced by Larry Csonka?

    • @Tubewings
      @Tubewings 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think Theismann wasn't too comfortable as the main host. Also, Csonka didn't immediately replace him. Todd Christensen was Theismann's initial replacement, and then Zonk became Adamle's sidekick.

    • @DIESEL0759
      @DIESEL0759 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Todd Christensen was an awful co-host. I hated his time on the show. Even in the 90s, he had awful hair, and he just wasn't very good at the job. No charisma. Should have kept either Theismann or "Zonk". Lisa Malosky was awful, too.

      Theismann was working at ESPN as the color commentator on _Sunday Night Football_ and could not return to work the second half of that _American Gladiators_ season.
