Marion, You do beautiful instructions videos. They are clear, concise and to the point. I have seen some of your commentated videos, and in my opinion, they too are very well done. You speak on topic, and your instruction is relevant and clear. Thank you for sharing your talent and creativity with the rest of us. Spot on!!
Hello, I find your videos very useful. You narrate the others very nicely. I was just wondering why it is hard to make a flat bottom with a beginning of 8 stitches? Is there a way to do this successfully?
Rhona Lawson Thank you Mochila stitches have to be tight and close together, to hide the yarns you carry and to make the work firm. When you have 8 increases and the stitches would be close together, the work will cup. When you spread out the stitches, you will see the yarns you carry. The only reason why patterns have 8 increases is because there is no program to make a bottom with 10 or 12 increases.
Mai Sabri in this video I do the first pull through yarn over and the second pull through yarn under. In my other videos I do both pull throughs yarn over. I would recommend to do both pull throughs yarn over.
Why when you are picking up the yarn are you doing it forward? Instead of back? ( if that makes sense ) you to through, YO, then pick up the thread again but the opposite way of a normal SC?
Dolyttle When you do the second pull through yarn under, it finishes the stitch a bit tighter. This is how I crocheted Mochilas in the beginning. Now I crochet tighter and I do the whole stitch yarn over.
Feeber Izer In my video Mochila basic techniques I show the yarn and hook I use. I recommend mercerized cotton yarn, 125 meter per 50 gram with a 2 mm hook. Check out Scheepjes Catona or Schachenmayr Catania at Woolwarehouse. They ship to many countries fo a very reasonable price.
Carol Ilse Anne In this video I do 8 stitches in the magic circle. It is very hard to make a firm and flat bottom with only 8 increases. That's why I advice to do 10 increases. Then you start with 5 stitches in the magic circle, increase to 10, increase to 20. Then follow the pattern from round 2.
I use mercerized cotton yarn, 125 meter per 50 gram, with a 2 mm hook. Good brands are Schachenmayr Catania, Scheepjes Catona, Camilla ice yarn, Phill cotton 3, Grundle cotton Quick.
dear Linda~ I'd love to help you, if you have a disability.. ('like~myself.) So, perhaps you may benefit from ("CHABE"PATTERNS"..channel.).. which I found. ('It is.. ENGLISH~SPOKEN & has ENGLISH~CAPTIONS.).✔👌🌹
In this video I start with 8 stitches in the magic circle. And I increse 8 times each round. When it's hard to keep the bottom flat, you can start with 5 stitches in the cirlce and increase to 10, 20, 30 etc.
If you find the magic circle too difficult to learn from this video (although it's only wrapping the yarn round your finger and Marion shows it very clearly), find one with some commentary until you have the method, then come back to this. If it is too fast for you to see clearly, click on the settings button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and there you can slow it to a quarter speed if you want to. This is much better without sound as very slow speech is off putting! Also, on full screen you can use the back button on your key board to go back in 5 second increments to watch something over and over, or use the space bar to freeze the picture and start it again. If you meant you cannot because of a disability then I apologise for commenting. Everything in life is rhythm and practise and once you have the knack, this is actually easier than a chain ring, and very much neater.
brenda foxx, I have a few weaving videos. A ply split braiding video. And a chain darning video. And you can also crochet a strap. You do that length wise. And you have to start each row on the same side.
I have a few patterns for sale on Ravelry. The patterns include instructions for this technique. I also have a Facebook group, Mochila bags crochet. In this group you can find all information to learn how to make a Mochila, including a beginner bag and a cal
Silver Rose Parnell When I started making videos, it was for a Dutch group. If I would have spoken Dutch then not many people could follow it. So I decided not to speak.
The point is that you can concentrate and watch carefully, then it is clear what Marion does. No words needed if you watch it through a couple of times and think about what she is doing.

L Skaley Thank you very much
👌like your simple no-talk teaching.

I only made a few short videos. I did not make a video of making the whole bag

How do u work the carry threads to next row? Do u close of each round with a slip stitch and chain 1, or work in spiral?
Thanks 🙏🙏👍👍👍
we have to continue all the mochila bag with yarn under? or we do this only in the second raw??

Gracias
Yes please, I love your accent also, I lost count how many stitches went in the Magic Ring before you closed it. Thanks 😎

Great video!Do you crochet only to the back loop?
Yes I only crochet through the back loop. You will get straight lines when you crochet through the back loop.
Hello!
Thank you for the tutorial. Do you remember the yarn you used in this tutorial, or the one that's used for the mochilas? Thank you again. : )
I always use 100 % coton. Sport weight, 5 ply. About 125 meter per 50 gram.
I use mercerized cotton yarn, 125 meter per 50 gram, with a 2 mm hook. Good brands are Schachenmayr Catania, Scheepjes Catona, Camilla ice yarn, Phill cotton 3, Grundle cotton Quick.
WOw good job thank you
Thank you Marion
heel mooi Marion.
Catrien Bron, dank je 😊
What size hook did you use?
In this video I'm using a 2,5mm hook.
In my newest videos I use a 2mm hook.
The question about talking in the video isn't necessarily good for me. I'm very hard of hearing. So, Closed Captions would be a choice for me.

can not do magic circle :( any other way to start ?
Beverly Read I guess you can start with a few chain stitches and then crochet in the round. But I have never done that.

Do you have a video on making the straps for the mochila bags?
brenda foxx, I have a few weaving videos. A ply split braiding video. And a chain darning video.
And you can also crochet a strap. You do that length wise. And you have to start each row on the same side.
Could you write the instructions please ?!
I have a few patterns for sale on Ravelry. The patterns include instructions for this technique.

Q hermoso motibos.👍👍
Really do not like it when you are not talking!
Why no sound? No instruction? What's the point?

If you cant talk in your videos, subtitles or something would be nice
michele tournay It is hard to add speech or subtitles. In my newer videos I do speak.
Iwould think talking would be better. Hard to follow without explanation.
kckid68 -Pam Minteer Holland Sorry, I can't add speaking.
