- Today in the Battle Arena, well we've got Superman, one of the most powerful members of the Justice League, guy who's fought against Darkseid and Doomsday, and guy who's fought alongside Batman and Wonder Woman. And he's going up against Beta Ray Bill, brother-in-arms with Thor himself and one of the most powerful heroes in Marvel. So who's coming out on top here? Well lets find out!

One of the things that annoys me about Superman is his inconsistency when it comes to his weaknesses, which is really just plot-armor anytime the story calls for it. Basically, magic IS a weakness ... and it's real bad ... except sometimes when it's not ... for some reason. I'm not okay with playing this plot-armor game. It either is a weakness or it's not. If it is, Bill wins. No contest. If it's not, Superman wins, no contest. So the only real question is, is magic a real weakness to Superman? Well, his official writeup says "Vulnerability to Magic." Okay ... that's the end of the debate ... Bill wins.
Superman doesn't have a weakness to magic, he just doesn't have any special resistance to magical attacks. If the magic in question does physical damage, Kal El will take no more or less damage than if the attack was purely physical in origin. So yes, Superman would probably die from a "death spell," but Beta Ray Bill doesn't have one of those. None of the enchantments on Stormbreaker would make a physical difference in the fight.

The only time magic was a major weakness and made Superman a bitch consistently is in new 52. In post crisis magic is just something that can harm him more than other things but its not a major deaal cuz he has defeated many magical beings including Shazam, Mordru(with the power of an entire universe of magic), dr fate etc.

This is an epic match up!! How did this one take so long coming?? Beta Ray Bill is winning this. A hard fight but BIll is the greater fighter, more formible battle wise and Strom breaker is a huge advantage and is very powerful. Superman's speed isn't a issue here Bill travels regularly at light speeds

It strongly depends on what Sentry we are talking about. Or on how easy Superman will fall to magic.
Superman is very inconsistent if it comes down to that. If he get`s KO`ed by a few hits again. Its pretty clear Shazam and Thor win.
Otherwise i would give the edge to Sentry and Superman. Sentry is on average above the classic versions of Superman/Shazam and Thor. So he could carry that fight

I completely agree with your decision, I just think you left out a few advantages Superman would have. If ANYONE is worthy to lift those hammers, it’s Superman. So, Superman could, if he figured this out, would just rip Stormbreaker out of Beta Rey Bills hoofs and either add those powers to his own, or beat the the crap out of him with his own hammer. I also believe Superman could crush Uru, Hel’a style. That would leave Bill screwed. I also believe Superman’s Freeze Breethe could stop Bill in his tracks. Then there is Superman’s Heat Vision, which I believe could MELT Stormbreaker.
Beta Ray Bill wins because his powers are magical and superman is vulnerable to magic and he has so many other powers he's created a cosmic storm in space to block out the sun's ray's which is what fuels supes so is he puts that up and creates the same shield he used to block a blast from galactus then he'll definitely beat superman, superman can really pack a punch but he's not even close to replicating the force of that blast from galactus. Or he can just teleport clark into a red sun and the fight is over... Danco says superman has fought magical beings like wonder woman and shazam but they're his friends and I'm pretty sure they were holding back, look what happened when Shazam didn't hold back and was channeling his magical power he k.o superman in 2 hits, Beta Ray Bill doesn't know clark and will definitely not be holding back. Agreed. i've always thought Mjolnir (and then Odin) granted Beta Ray Bill the powers of Thor, but not necessarily Thor's power LEVELS. i've always considered the comparison like comparing to a "calm" Hulk.
That's not to say it would be a cake walk for Superman; but yes, running the scenario 100 times, Superman will have a clear majority of wins.

DanCo has always had a Thor bias, as we're all a bit biased. But Superman is just on a higher level of power than either Beta Ray Bill or Thor. His feats are far more impressive and it shouldn't be that close. After seeing how Thor and BRB gets ko'd by Hulk and SM beats someone even more power than Hulk in Doomsday, I think it's clear SM wins this one and it's not even that close.

A tough fight and superman will win the majority of very close calls. Bill is tough enough to get some victories but not the majority of them. Especially with his versatility. He even used his powers once to gather a storm and block sun rays from reaching the surface which is the source of superman's powers.

Honestly after watching the movies Superman has been in, he's not as powerful as he's hyped to be. I mean he got KO'd in Man os Steel, Batman nearly killed him in Batman v Superman. And not forgetting to mention Stormbreaker, Bill can just teleport him anywhere including a red sun solar system. If stormbreaker can dent Thanos who's way more durable than superman, it should easily lay waste to kal el. Plus isn't Superman vulnerable to lighting, in smallville he lost half his powers when he was exposed to a huge electrical discharge. Basically Bill is as strong and durable as superman, but with Stormbreaker at his side he wins in my opinion. Its just makes sense. Neglecting Bill's teleport action ability is a huge bias.

Thor-like characters are so weird to rank. They are tanks with powerful attacks but not that much speed. They either destroy someone or get dominated. For example Thor VS Shazam is such a tough battle
