Line of sight must not be broken at any time with SCP 173. In this revised entry for SCP-173, a horrifying fact has been uncovered. SCP 173... is multiplying, reproducing by unknown means and spawning new instances.

After hearing about another SCP called The Eye Pods and how one helped re-contain 173 by looking at it with its unblinking eye, I had an idea on how they could better contain 173. The eyes that look at SCP-173 do not need to be human to keep the anomaly at bay, so I wonder if they could put a bunch of flies in 173's containment to keep it from becoming active. Each fly has many unblinking eyes, so 173 will not be snapping any necks if there are enough flies around. The feces 173 produces can also help to create more flies as the flies lay their eggs on it that will then be eaten by maggots.

maybe it has to do with sapience, flies and other insects are instinctual creatures and the eye pods do have some form of intelligence.

173 is among the more terrifying SCP's. It's purpose and motivations being mysterious. And the only safety against it is constant observation. A serious difficulty. Even 682 is afraid of it. I'd rather have to deal with 049. At least he has clear motives.

I want to hear a post apocalyptic story about someone surviving in one of the main containment zones that ends with them being caught by the SCP. Like a long story about being alone, surviving seeing a few of them, scavenging, animals and stuff, and in the end they get cornered in a warehouse or something that holds like a thousand of them like a nest

I was always genuinely confused on this. SCP has unlimited resources, and unlimited class D members. Why only use 3 ppl? Why not reduce the risk by using 20 and 5 to clean? Then 173 would never escape because let's be honest, probability lowers with more ppl looking at him.

If there is more than 1 person in the room with 173, they have to take turns blinking so that they wont get their necks snapped. If a person in the room looks away even for a second, *snap* their necks are gone.

I love this channel. Dr. Bob offers great commentary, storytelling, and animation. SCP Explained is good, but I feel like their commentary is fluffed with repetitive statements and questions to add time.
Also, SCP 2000 only creates more humans, to reset reality you'd need to bring SCP 055 and SCP 579 together

This one is extra freaky to me.. I remember something like this on one of the Mario games back in the day - maybe Mario 3 - where the ghost would follow when you looked away and stop when you looked toward it. I'm not sure why but that always tripped me out and made me leery in the woods at night. This seems similar to some things I've thought about..
Terrific how easy 173 could become XK class. I can't even do the close one eye at a time thing, my left eye will inevitibly close if try-ing to close only the right one. And with infinitly multiplying 173, the earth and/or moon (depending if O5 can swope earth clean of 173 or not) will, due to the infinitly growing 173 mass of concrete statues, the acumulated mass becomes critical. Eventualy, this mass will colapse to a black hole, making 173 finaly be recontained. So if any survivers can escape to Sturns moon Titan or habitable exoplanets without(!) any 173 following them, humanity can have a do-over, and also 173 will self-neutralize into 2 black holes that had once been earth and moon.

This has the doctor who problem, fitting considering its similarities to weeping angels.
By that I mean it's impact is to large to be believable, the best part about SCP is how its in the shadows and covered up giving it some believability.

1: You have no 'what if' story.
2: It started out slow, so by the time they realised they had a major issue on their hands with a mass containment breech it was too late.
@@MLaak86 Especially when you take into the fact that each individual instance multiplied so by the time an on mass containment breach happens, there's gonna be at least hundreds if not thousands of SCP-173 all roaming the facility, if these can work in tandem to cut off routes then what chance did the SCP foundation personnel hope to have against this kind of coordination, this goes even above any amount of coordination the Chaos Insurgency or the GOC could muster up.

There's plenty of ways for forcefully keep someone's eyes open, like they do during eye surgery. Surely the SCP Foundation have the resources for that kind of thing.

While Dr Bob didn't clarify my assumption is this is a "what if" / "worst case scenario" created by the SCP on what to do and what will happen if the worst comes to pass as such to scare people in doing their jobs as effectively as possible to prevent containment breaches. Alternatively, this is a story from an AU, a nearby reality to the prime SCP reality that really did get destroyed and Dr Bob almost certainly being an anomaly himself has access to information about this reality. Lastly it's also possible this is a story from a vague non-descript future. Potentially told by someone who managed to travel back in time somehow and warn them.
The peanut emits an aura of fear, everyone and thing knows what it can do and what it is capable of so everyone in the same area as it is the almighty peanut

(also, most are human, but probably enhanced, or changed in one way or another)

I remember that in this SCP tale there is this part mentioning how the 173 swarm literally ripped 682 to oblivion.
That's right, the peanuts tore the unkillable "my-scp-is-da-bestest" lizard until there was nothing to regenerate.
Doubtful since 682 regenerated from a pool before. And it doesn't matter how many 173s there are they can't rip him into microscopic particles.

Doc, you're good at opening minds, you got any clue why Billy has such a raging hateboner for humans? Cause, it clearly lives to kill us, but it's so fast at doing so. It's not like others that draw out the suffering, or torment their victims. Billy snaps your twig spine and moves on with his day. It's mechanical and methodic, but quick, clean, and humane, one of the least horrible ways to die that the Foundation contains.

The 05's would never have let it get this bad. The foundation would have contained them in a space small enough where they could not replicate. Or even better dipped them all in molten titanium blocks and built a new facility with statues as the foundation lol. ScP lore shows the 05s to be In the know on just about everything as soon as it happens so after the first replication they would have contained it in a disgustingly inhumane way or sent them into a star or another universe or something. To Avalon with all of them lol. Or even better to that universe they are in a perpetual war with since they sent a flu cure and killed tons of ppl there.
Agreed. Peanuts would have been contained and obliterated somehow. In fact WHY send them to the Moon? Send them into the Sun. Even if they are somehow immune to the thermonuclear reactions, they'll be stuck in the core of it, pulled down by the gravity.

Nah. They would let it run rampant just to see what happens and how they can use it to maintain absolute power. Then just pull a Rick and Morty and pop to a different dimension when everything is fucked. Or pull out any of their many scp answers for this and use scp 2000 when they're done.
