Looked her up because of the Highwomen cover of "The Chain" on Howard Stern and I liked her voice and violin playing. I am BLOWN. AWAY. This is spectacular.
Saw her at the Black Deer Festival in Kent (UK) Mesmerising from the first note. Phenomenal voice, stage-presence and grace. The fact that such extraordinary talents as Amanda Shires and Morgan James are passed over by the big labels in favour of auto-tuned, 5 minute wonders is criminal but does nothing to diminish their star quality.
Just discovered Amanda from her husband’s HBO documentary and am just blown away by her songwriting and that voice! Holy crap, she’s AMAZING! I feel like she needs her own documentary!
This made me think of The Cranberries, Alanis, James Bond, and Dusty Springfield all wrapped up into one!!! I am absolutely mesmerized by your voice, your songwriting ability, and your love and fierceness when telling a story!!! 🔥🔥🔥🦋❤️🤗
I was thinking of a Cranberries Dolores O'Riordan vibe too. Love Amanda's voice. Recently discovered her through The Highwomen's cover of The Chain on Howard Stern.
Dude ... I'm loving the dramatics - the climbing cracks revealing the rawness of those deep seeded emotions. Beautiful description of pain in the projected vocals
Heard this on an interview she did with NPR a couple months back, where she performed a few songs live, and this one stood out---she also performed it on the tonight show recently. She's got a good powerful voice too.
Such a great song. It gives me the haunted feeling that Tindersticks gives. I've been listening to Jason Isbell for some years but stumbled upon Amanda yesterday, what a gem!
I am all in for the Amanda Shires Renaissance. Another great song from a great lady, and I cannot wait for the album and the tour. I mean...I can. I understand how time works, but in this case I wish it would work a smidge faster.
I was just about to remark about how I hear Leonard's influence in this piece and how proud he would be. Prine too, of course....but this just has the delicious feel of a Leonard Cohen piece made perfect by Amanda's style, grace, and overall badassery.
Nature is surely a language for the most important literacy. The body language is overt here just before the solo .... moving toward the guitarist and closing herself up. solo....SOLO...... I can here her. Loud and clear. Beyond and within the song. Would love to talk with her . Even for just a short while. Stay strong Amanda.
Amanda looks amazing here. One word to Mr. Isbell: Respect! Looking forward to the new record. Saw Amanda on her last tour and was surprised to see the drummer for The Whigs and Eagles of Death Metal playing in her band. It was a great show, btw...Love the vibe of this song.
“Take it like Amanda” lol. Great album. Every song is great. “Everything Has Its Time”? So sad. Love Amanda’s voice, and holy smokes how sexy can this girl GET??
Bit like the young Kate Bush ..but Amanda has truly carved herself a unique niche up there with today's premier female singer songwriters . In the final stanza she sings "take it like a man(da)..a superb and briliant vocal twist in the tail
I sent a message to our former pres'dent asking him to go to listen to this song of yours go to the New York courtrooms and - yep TAKE IT LIKE A MAN, sir. It seems to have helped... ...calm him down.
I adore the fact her man, The Man Jason Isbell is standing behind her not saying a word echoing her every movement with his FIRE ASS STRING PULLING! I feel like I just made EXTREMELY passionate love and we got off together. ❤ whew! I need a smoke.
This is a very nice video and her voice and singing style is very unique. Is there some symbolism or meaning to the chair sitting part at the end? It seems kind of deliberate and with a purpose..just wondering if there was more to it.
Wow. Just heard Amanda interviewed on NPR, heard her briefly with Highwomen and thoroughly enjoyed this version. The strings and Isbell on guitar and Amanda's voice all support strong poetry in the lyrics. Now, about that outfit... it's lovely and rather distracting.
One of the most amazingly unpredictable and strangely intimate songwriters on the scene currently. Bravo Mrs. Shires.
" I know the cost of flight, is LANDING"..WOW, love these lyrics
Looked her up because of the Highwomen cover of "The Chain" on Howard Stern and I liked her voice and violin playing. I am BLOWN. AWAY. This is spectacular.
same here!
Same here!
Same!
same
she’s been around for a decade fools
You are upping the game for songwriters, Amanda Shires. Your humanity and grace are much needed and appreciated at this ugly time in America.
this is ethereal and no other Nashville artist will be able to top this for years
yes they will, they already have

Love the last line where "I can take it like a man" morphs into "I can take it like Amanda."
That is great!
❤
As a traumatized Amanda, this made me feel whole.❤ thank you, @amandashires
This made me think of The Cranberries, Alanis, James Bond, and Dusty Springfield all wrapped up into one!!! I am absolutely mesmerized by your voice, your songwriting ability, and your love and fierceness when telling a story!!! 🔥🔥🔥🦋❤️🤗
Very James Bond-y somehow
This has a Cranberries/Radio Head vibe to it. Shires vocals are unique and incredible. Jason Isbel’s guitar skills are solid. I Love this!!!!
On the button
I don’t get that at all 😂
I was thinking of a Cranberries Dolores O'Riordan vibe too. Love Amanda's voice. Recently discovered her through The Highwomen's cover of The Chain on Howard Stern.
Amanda Shires, you’re a national treasure. 😍🎻 So talented and unlike anyone else. Never change.
That's a "learn every word" song you will have the audience singing with you! Really great
Dude ... I'm loving the dramatics - the climbing cracks revealing the rawness of those deep seeded emotions. Beautiful description of pain in the projected vocals
This is massive. The power in Amanda's voice is visceral. So profoundly unique
You are so riveting… triple threat … you’re a beautiful soul… so appreciate your talent… thank you Amanda
Them strings and then her haunting voice is just like damn what a tune
This song is mesmerising and Amandas vocal performance is just stunning

Who else is here from the NY Times write up! Wow, what have I been missing! Shires and the band are off the hook good!!!
Looking forward to getting my CD. I still get a smile when I remember you introducing Jason as Mr. Amanda Shires when you in KC.
Woman. This is gold.
Simply exquisite - Bravo
Awesome ! Another great one from my favorite Hurricane with a Fiddle ;) 🎻💥🌊
God damn Amanda Shires!! 😮
That family is loaded with talent and insight! What a breakout for Amanda and all women in the biz. Continue to climb the palace walls!!
Such a great song. It gives me the haunted feeling that Tindersticks gives. I've been listening to Jason Isbell for some years but stumbled upon Amanda yesterday, what a gem!

She's so beautiful!!!
A force of nature.
What a magical voice! Love this girl’s music!
This is tremendous
Fabulous! 👏❤️🔥
Take it like A-man-da! (The Octaves of Consequence- that must be this damn Isbell again! Wow!)
Absolutely the best. Like Leonard Cohen and John Prine, before her, Amanda paints truth with her music
I was just about to remark about how I hear Leonard's influence in this piece and how proud he would be. Prine too, of course....but this just has the delicious feel of a Leonard Cohen piece made perfect by Amanda's style, grace, and overall badassery.
I cannot stop playing it!
I love this! Wonderful! What a treat!
It only gets better too. On my 10th listening, I find myself looking forward to my 100th listening.

Absolutely stunning! 🐦
Amazing 👏
Kristin Weber killing it on the fiddle.

Great song. Great performance.
This is phenomenal and beautiful.

she is a super star
Awesome thanks
The drive in her voice is incredible. 👏👏👏
This is amazing
This is amazing song and incredible vocal performance. I didn't care for some of her older work, but this is extremely good.
Bit like the young Kate Bush ..but Amanda has truly carved herself a unique niche up there with today's premier female singer songwriters .
In the final stanza she sings "take it like a man(da)..a superb and briliant vocal twist in the tail
Such a great song! Amazing Amanda! I did think Jason was wearing a bathrobe at first 😂
Wow, what a stunning beauty. Jaw dropping. Good song too.
Come back to Spain soon ❤❤❤
This is perfection, haunting, and on repeat. Cheers to you girl💞🙌🤘
Please come perform at Floores Country Store!!!!
Incredible song, really whetting my appetite for the album, you are killin' it !! :)
Bravo !!!
Powerful stuff🤘 This song and video definitely captured Amanda. Very cool!
Thank you
Holy moly girl!
Jason in that trench coat looking like a creeper. Lol. This song kicks ass and that solo is 🔥
Wow👍
Her vocal has a bit of Siouxsie Sioux in it. I like it.
Dare I say this is better than the studio version.
I love her outfits 🤪
I sent a message to our former pres'dent
asking him to go to listen to this song of yours
go to the New York courtrooms and - yep
TAKE IT LIKE A MAN, sir.
It seems to have helped...

I wondered this too. She sits very similar in the Hawk for Dove video.
My guess is that she’s ‘manspreading’ to emphasize that she can take it like a man.
Good lucking and talented
Wow. Just heard Amanda interviewed on NPR, heard her briefly with Highwomen and thoroughly enjoyed this version. The strings and Isbell on guitar and Amanda's voice all support strong poetry in the lyrics.

At the end “take it like a man da” 😉 I see you
Like a man ..da " pretty cleaver 👍.
I get a Kate Bush vibe while listening to this song. Love it.
Simply a Goddess
She may be the most beautiful woman of this generation.
