I forgot to mention this in the video but if you are on switch and can’t request items, check to make sure your date/time is accurate. This has been an easy thing that many people have missed when they ask about requesting items.
So how do you just give people stuff? My girlfriend was trying to give me stinky tofu but it's not an option in the request menu. Surely there's a trade option or the ability to just drop things for people like in most other survival multiplayer games?
There isn't a way to just drop items on the ground for other players. You can only trade plushies right now. In order for an item to be requestable, you need to hold it at least once. You can only request items that you've earned already yourself.
