  • Where is the best coffee in the world? Did you know that Brazil and Colombia are two of the highest coffee producing countries in the world? Well, in this video, we are hopping to Medellin Colombia and Sao Paulo Brazil to compare Brazilian coffee to colombian coffee. These are the best coffee cities in these countries and the best coffee countries in the world (in our bias opinion!).
Coffee tourism is starting to grow as people explore these incredible places with the worlds best coffee. And in fact, more and more competitions for best coffee beans, best coffee, top 10 coffee in the world, etc. are becoming more and more prevalent. On our travels, we love to try local brews, and although we are bias to Colombia (since we own a house in Colombia), we were VERY surprised with Brazilian coffee.
So what do you think? Where is the best coffee, Brazil or Colombia? I guess you’ll have to watch the video to find out!
Episode 178 | Filmed in June 2023 | Medellin, Colombia and São Paulo, Brazil

The Cup of Excellence is the most prestigious coffee quality competition in the world. The contest has been held in Brazil since 1999, and Brazil is the country that has won the most contests, with 146 prizes.

Good coffe in Brazil used to be very strong and sweet, it's common to drink after all meals(yes, for some people even after dinner haha) so was almost like a desert, a lot a restaurants have it a conner for coffee for free. But the sweet part are not common anymore because normally most brazilians care a lot about health and everyday we are using less and less sugar. But when I was a child all coffes were super sweet, and most of our tradional deserts too haha.
Cofee for us is like green tea for east asians, you can get it everywhere and is quite cheap or free. There is some gourmet places but a everyday brazilian won't accept pay a lot for something we consider as essencial as water XD

In north america people like "Colombian" coffee. If you go to Europe or west asia, it's all Brazilian coffee. But IMO the best coffee is what you can get fresh at a coffee producing country.

Fun fact: Brazil produces some of the best coffee in the world, BUT what we Brazilians consume every day is rubbish. Mostly it's burnt leftovers, twigs and unripe grains. They export the best coffee and leave the rest, garbage, for us to consume. You can buy good brazilian coffee here but it's expensive. The coffee we drink everyday is rubbish.
