I've been waiting on mine since December 2nd. I'm going crazy because I want it so badly. All of this just to play two games. The Sword of Hope 1 and 2!
crazy I just received mine today and was playing the first Sword of Hope. I somehow agree with some people about the steep price tag but it’s honestly a neat and well built device.
@@Crushbandido When you factor in the r&d, it makes sense. They are selling these at a loss with the best materials out of any handheld. Actual sapphire crystal and a metal shell? Custom built in-house screen? It could have easily been sold for way more. Wasn't the metal analogue pocket like $500 before taxes amd shipping?
I've spent days searching for a how-to resource on updating and streaming from my Chromatic. Now that it's here, I don't have the hardware to even run the utilities! Guess I'll be winging it for a while.
Your audio issue with the static is because you need a thing called a "ground loop noise isolator" basically it involves weird stuff involving how the power source and audio jack are plugged into the same device, not sure how it all works but it's under $10 and it works perfectly. To test this, plug everything in how you would if you wanted to record gameplay. You should have static. Unplug the USB but not the audio jack. The static should go away. Plug it back in and if you get static again, that means you definitely need a noise isolator.
I wanted the ultimate gameboy and I damn sure got it. Couldnt be happier with it. I have other devices for emulation. I elwanted something to play my cartridges and it delivered.
Does anybody know how somebody would go about getting a romhack made? I want somebody to romhack the version of SFA on GBC so that you could play as Akuma without selecting him through random and if possible adding 2 player via link cable and being compatible with the original hardware. Willing to pay
Bought a couple of old Gameboy games and for some reason most of them won't work on the modretro chromatic. At first I thought the games were broken until a majority didn't wanna boot. I wonder if you even can play other games than GBC games
use "point" scaling mode and make sure not to use fractional scaling values for best results. 160x144, 320x288, 480x432, 640x576, etc. are the sizes you want to scale to.
I can try and answer: I have both analogue pocket and chromatic. I've 2 copies of pokemon silver and am now looking at the title screen. Comparing it with Pocket's original gameboy color lcd mode, they are pretty similar, but part of me wants to say the color is a tiny bit washed on the pocket because the blue on the chromatic is a bit more blue than the pocket. BUT when you switch modes to Analogue GBC mode (no pixel grid lines) the colors are richer on the pocket than the chromatic. Part of me prefers the chromatic screen more, but the pocket's screen is still beautiful. But on another note since doing this experiment, I just noticed the clockspeed on the chromatic is faster: the intro animation and sound on the pocket is falling behind the intro on the chromatic, something to take note of. Now I wish I had a 3rd copy of pokemon silver to put in an original gameboy color and see which is more accurate in clockspeed: pocket or chromatic.
Thats literally the same amount as a new Gameboy back then. Today's price includes inflation and they are honestly taking this at a loss. You can find Original Gameboys with light up screens for 250+
i dont understand this product. $199 for this? is this for everyone too rich for emulation? makes no sense at this price point. all this is available on sooo many devices for 1/4 the price or even less in many cases...

Many people don't know that you can change the brightness on the Analogue Pocket by holding the menu button, and using the volume buttons.
They're even selling these at my local Gamestop.
All colours or just the exclusive grey

Hellll yeah bro - I’m picking one up due to your recommendation. Yo ModRetro get this man his games!
You went deep on that video capture stuff. Appreciate the work!
I noticed mine only works with headphones with no mic just so everyone is aware. But I do love this device
TRS headphones, not TRRS. Good to know.
did somebody have issues with the contra game about the dpad
Absolutely loving mine. If they added wifi functionality for multiplayer, that would be absolutely amazing.

You missed the fact that you need to set Point scaling instead of Bicubic scaling. Bicubic will result in a blurry screen.

@ thanks!
I find my analogue pocket better , as well as my fpga funny play $83 handheld being better as well. $200 is just too much in my opinion
And all the people who just want the GameBoy without SD card and physical carts , it’s not for everybody
My first Chromatic update was successful. Hopefully it won't be long to wait for the Linux version
Which is better Pocket or Chromatic
Which tetris game is that and more importantly, does it work on a super game boy 2?
Tetris DX which comes with the Chromatic. It is supposed to work with original hardware.
It can be praised so much but that $200 dollar price tag is a bit too deep.

Haters gonna hate , they have no life . I am sold can’t wait
Imagine updating a real gbc 🤦🏻♀️
This is not your fault, but this apparently does not work on a Mac.
Yep unfortunately not yet... but they will have a version for Mac and Linux soon.
GBC screen is 10:9, not 1:1
1:1 as in each dimension is is scaled properly not that it's a 1:1 aspect ratio

Bro, they’re being made by an arms dealer straight out of metal gear solid, wtf
Thats great!
Still not worth 200.
