Another thing. The verses non-brazilians will have the hardest time understanding are most likely:
"[...] six-banded armadillo caterpillar [...]" => This means that he is independent, self-sufficient and harmless as are six-banded armadillos, and dangerous as are "Taturanas" -a venomous caterpillar-, at the same time.
"[...] A good goat is the one that bleats the most where the thrush sings [...]" => The original saying is: "A good goat doesn't bleat." (The most valuable people, when facing hardships, don't complain. They save the energy to deal with and solve it.). Where the thrush sings [=Brazil], the well-spoken/complaining ones (depends on interpretation) come out on top.
"[...] sparrow of prey, nobody takes away my cornmeal." => Again, it emphasizes his dual nature. Harmless like a sparrow, but dangerous like a bird of prey. Cornmeal became associated with sparrows due to the expression "Tico-tico no fubá", which means having casual sex (sparrows peck really fast when eating it). Therefore, in popular culture it's considered a sparrow's favourite meal. Take the verse as you will.

Ironically; I'm Portuguese language teacher, but with this helpful video I can understand better, hehehe. Thanks a lot from Mexico City

"middle stature" doesn't sound about right for this song. A better translation would be "mid/median stature".
