- Introducing Patty Upton, a fearless adventurer and accomplished overlander, showcasing her remarkable 1966 Jeep CJ-5 build. She and her late husband Loren achieved the Guinness World Record for the first all-land crossing of the treacherous Darién Gap and an epic drive around the world, spanning over five years and covering more than 56,000 miles.

I came across your story a few years ago. What an amazing adventure the two of you had. I also have a red 64 CJ5 and feel I need to now do my JEEP logos in yellow. I could spend hours listening to your stories and geeking out on the CJ.
Wow! Awesome adventure and story you have to tell! Love the Jeep ! Hope to read the book some day! Thank you.
Thank you, everyone. Your kind words humble me. Respect and great adventures to all!
Thank you for your kind words!
Maybe Matthew 7:13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. I used to drive a 78 CJ5 for many years. Best Wishes
You all (“We”) are awesome! What a wonderful lady and husband going on all those adventures! Peace to you!
Great adventure! They put a lot of thought into their Jeep build.
we need a documentary on the trip! Too bad they didn't have go pro back then!
Wow! What a great adventure story.
They went farther, on less money and in less vehicle than most would even dare to dream.
Thank you for sharing!
Right? We love their story too.
We need a book!
Absolute respect. What an amazing journey. Our first “Camper “ was a CJ5, it was a treat to just keep it running.
Thank you for the great story, looking forward to the book!
Agree!
Great to see Mr Upton's cj5 again!
I followed his adventures in Off Road magazine in the 80's, the articles about that tall skinny man wearing his distinguishing felt campaign hat driving his cj5 across the world influenced me to own many early cj5's. Great to see this special jeep is making the rounds, hopefully Mr Upton's adventures will get written about again.
Wow, amazing!! We agree. So impressive.
I’ve been places in my old FJ 40 but nothing like they have , thanks for the story. We wish her well.
Wow, what a couple! Talk about adventure. I am impressed.
Thanks for watching!
I'm sorry for your loss
