I’m African American with roots in Glasgow, Scotland. My paternal grandmother, a mulatto, had ancestors that migrated from Scotland, to County Kerry in Ireland, to Ontario, Canada, then immigrated across the border to Michigan. Still have family in Ontario. We travel back for family reunions and to see the Scottish Highland Games. Love the bagpipe competitions.❤
I'm black and proud and I love Scotland.💙🏴🏴💙
Great summary of Afro-Scottish history and presence! Yes, your book "The Afro-Encyclopedia" is so awe-inspiring and thrilling to peruse. I also enjoy the beautiful illustrations. So proud of you, Fayida❣️
i always wanted to visit Scotland, because it seemed cool. Now to hear of black history, and history period that it has, I gotta go xD
It's a wonderful country, worth a visit!
I just found out my last name “Dunomes” is thought to have derived from the place name Dunoon
(Dunomhainn in Gaelic), located in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, on the Firth of Clyde. Which makes me want to learn & gain knowledge on the topic so that I can know more about my families past.
Wow so interesting! Yes, definitely worth doing some research into it!
Dosent mean u have any scottish blood mate alot of slaves were giving scottish surnames and had their real names took from them 100s of years ago
@@cashyf_88 true, but it'll at least give me a little insight to finding my true origins.
@JaMarionDunomes i doubt it my friend scotland is 96 percent white there's not been much black people here wouldn't listen to most of these videos u get the odd black person through time coming but nothing massive , could possibly have a ancestor from Scotland who was white who moved to America and had kid with black woman or something like that and carried the name over so u could be mate , I done a ancestry dna test u could maybe try one of those they tell u where your bloodline comes from and are cheap to buy I done 1 and got about 98 percent scottish/Irish dna and 2 percent english but I was born in Scotland . Good luck mate all the best ...
@JaMarionDunomes you look mixed race bro so u prob have got some Scottish /Irish dna in there somewhere lol

Thank you for watching!
New subscriber here. Thank you for the global black history lessons.
Talk about the "black" Indians. I have noticed that 98% of African Americans largely descend from Native American ppl. Michael Jackson, James Brown, Jimi Hendrix had Native American ancestry
Where's that information comes from
Think it’s about 15%
Thanks for sharing
Do a video covering up Afro coast rica and Belize
Keep up the good work
Greattttt video
Frederick Douglas is a Scottish American not African American. As a Moorish American Scot Black is a status not a nationality.
Frederick Douglas had no Scottish ancestry, his surname was adopted not his real surname.
@@Maestro4759 His given name at birth was Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey.
@@Juliaflo He chose to change his name to Douglas from a poem. He really liked Ireland and apparently it changed him and his outlook on life. He said when he went to Ireland they treated him with the same amount of respect as anyone else he also said he saw similarities' in the way African Americans were treated and the Irish how both groups were colonized and marginalized.
Huh? Sir please read more about African American History thanks
👌🏾👌🏾Great!
Yeah blacks were in Scotland before that. Good to see she can retell bogus history
wha makes me a good demoman ?
If I was a bad Demoman, I wouldn’t be sittin’ ‘ere discussin’ it wit ya would I?
LEEET'S GO ITT!
Clutching at straws!
Your point?
Nobody asked for them, its a not a diaspora. Its unwanted migration. If i was born in Tanzania, id still be a Mzungu. Not saying there can't be any but there was barely any until 60 years ago
Some were breaded aka breeded in the wrong way. # blacka. Experiment.
Black scottish wear klit?
we can only laugh at this nonsense. but in the future we will ask all of you to go back to your african kingdoms and be kangz there.
We will shine no matter where we are
Black people should focus on the future instead of dividing history into blackhstory and non blakc history, it's childish
This comment is childish
We should what now🤣 what a goof. We are going to find our ancestry rather you like it or not most of us are kin to you and all the other whites cause the white man couldn't keep his hands off the black woman. Waddell is a Scottish surname from Wedale. So how my black ass end up with it 🧐🧐🧐
They will never be scottish
Aye they are
This has got an American wrote this comment written all over it
