The second can be done with desmos! just plug in the equation, then set x = 1 + square root of k and plug in the answers provided until one matches the positive solution. However, this can only be done if it's a write-in question. If that is the case, take the positive solution that you see on the graph minus one and then squared and you have the solution. This method may be even more efficient.

The SAT math questions are sorted by difficulty of Easy (1-3), Medium (4-5), Hard (6-7). These questions are in the 6-7 difficulty.
