Bill won the 2020 series of Strictly Come Dancing (UK's Dancing with the Stars). Think the producers chose him because they thought he would be the joke contestant, but he proved them and so many people wrong. Bill is a classically trained musician so he naturally knows rhythm and movement. His performances were so fun to watch each week. I would love it if you could react to them

Sandi Toksvig is a Danish comedian, who took over as host from Stephen Fry for the 14 series: 'M'. There is one series a year and each series is themed about a different letter, the most recent series was 'U'. Yes, it's been going that long and, as far as I am aware, Alan Davies has appeared in every single episode: 308 so far!

Danish person here. I don't know that I would call her Danish primarily. She grew up in the US and UK and doesn't really speak Danish regularly. Our culture is pretty insular, so, to us, her being described as Danish is a bit like when Americans with Irish ancestry claim that they're Irish.
She's brilliant though, and I don't mind her being an honourary Dane, a bit like Viggo Mortensen.

Danish-born British comedian would be more accurate. While she was born here, she's spent almost all of her life living in the USA and the UK. When she speaks Danish, it's somewhat broken.
Interestingly, she didn't actually become a British citizen until 2013 or something.

I let her know about this beforehand via an e-mail to the venue and she couldn't have been nicer about it. Waiting for me as I showed my ticket was one of her tour flyers signed by her. One of the best things about QI is them leaving in what would be cut out in other shows. Eg the boat section at the end was left into the original broadcast because of how funny it was. Rather than they do 15 takes of one scene and just bore the audience and panellists like other shows.

The ventriloquist (Nina Conti) is very funny as well. She has a monkey and when he's the voice she is doing it does get rather rude. She also gets people out of the audience and puts masks on them and she controls the mouth movements and speaks for them. It is genius to watch. One woman speaking in a 3 way conversation, operating the masks and making it laugh out loud funny is a skill some comedians could only dream about. She's well worth a look.

The comedian you were asking about is Sandy Toksvig
She’s a gay Danish comedian whose been in the UK working forever it feels like I remember first seeing here in Saturday morning kids tv show called No. 73 which ran from 1982-1988 (I’m sure) and was the first big kids tv show I remember watching on a Saturday before Get Fresh, Zzap!, Motormouth, WACaday, The Disney Club, Hey Hey It’s Saturday and What’s Up, Doc?
As for the pipe it’s not a real pipe (I’m sure the one he uses that is the same as mine: it blows bubbles)
The reason we both have pipes is insanely coincidental and proves that causation is not causation.
I remember years ago talking about how a pipe gives an air of authority; how you could say anything with either a pipe in your hand or in your mouth and people will instantly respect your opinion:
*looks around the courtroom before placing his pipe casually in his and biting down. Buzzing with the anticipation but he’d seen too many people trip over the arrogance. He would bide his time”
“I put it to you, sir, you who claims to be such an expert in animals” *removes pipe from mouth, using it to jab every word home*
“That were the unicorn not, in fact, real, Scotland wouldn’t use it as a nation animal?”
*’GOT HIM!’ He thought and, for the first time, he allowed himself just a moment f pleasure, a moment for nobody in there but himself. He gripped down with his teeth and he blew. It was short, sharp and perfect. Not only was he the only one to see, but the only one too feel, his body releasing endorphins and many other happiness chemicals into his brain as he watched with pride - he was the only one who heard the sound of water splashing around aggressively but now he was the only one to see the glimmering ball that left the end of the pipe and floated up and down, responding to air currents caused by the excitement around him. He watched as slowly, the little ball that brought so much joy losing its struggle with gravity as it dropped down, down, up then down, a move it repeated lije a ballet just for him until this almost invisible little bundle of joy landed on the carpet for a fraction of a second and… POP! It was gone
‘I’ll need to refill my pipe with washing up liquid when I get home’

Rocking a lovely straight bulldog (pipe), hard to tell on this one but generally he seem to have the Peterson Sherlock Holmes range of pipes with him.
I've seen a lot of pipes, but I did own a tobacconist until 2016 and was the last uk small batch tobacco blender in the uk. I also presented someone pipe smoker of the year in 2015* ending Stephen Frys claim to be the last pipe smoker of the year.
*the Ferderation of British Pipe Cluns replaced the British Pipe smokers council and issues the award to Brian Mills

There's a 3rd lobster option: get your phone out ASAP and live off TH-cam and TikTok hits.
Stephen Fry was the winner of the last ever Pipe Smoker of the Year, btw. I think it gets talked about on QI somewhere.

Love your reactions man. Just wish you did react to rock busters as over Americas have done it and it's not just English bands like someone said before. Once you actually understand it is funny and hearing Karl's clues makes it even more funny when he says the artist names. If Ricky didn't get most of them correct you should definitely watch it as he shouts and is load sometimes you'll love it.❤️❤️🔥🔥

The smoking pipe thing (I think!) started when Stephen fry told them he was pipe smoker of the year!
It might be on the QI comp - Making fun of Stephen Fry on Qi!

The best of QI for me is when they all take the mic out of Stephen. The Child Buffing Workshop is a particular favourite but there's tons (plus I'm sure someone's done a collab video of them too that I'd recommend watching.

The wind section - Sandy Toksvig is the host that took over from Stephen Fry when SF quit. Personally think she's better.

My father used to smoke a pipe on special occasions.
Once I got busted by my brother at school, he dobbed me in that I took his pipe to school.
My dad was like, why would you do that, I replied, cause you're a cheap ass, and I don't get enough allowance for my own smokes,
He raised my allowance after that until he found out that I was buying packets of smokes and selling them for, 0.20c each (each packet I could sell and then buy another 4 packets). I could afford my own smokes on the side :D

14:40 I smoke pipe from time to time, especially if I`m in the woods and have a fire going. Love me some pipe tobacco. Nothing like it! And as Bill Bailey says it, there`s no better way to make a point, than to point at someone with your pipe.
