Excellent video, thanks so much. I kept putting this off as my light needed replacing for months. I did it in 30 mins following this video and the most time consuming part for me was talking the old light out lol. Awesome video and so easy to follow :)
Plastic set of trim tools and you won’t mark the panel , or just use some cloth or cardboard , or my close to hand duck tape 👍 Great video really helpful. Thank you 🙏
Great video and very helpful but two extra words of advice. The boot lid lock cover really isn't easy to remove and if you use a screwdriver with too wide a blade it will make it almost impossible to remove as the bent sides will act as a lock. In the end I could only get mine off with the whole trim cover...as I carefully levered that off it popped the lock cover off with it. The other point not mentioned is when you pull the old led light out the copper spring clip on the central plastic lug will inevitably fall back inside the boot lid..if you don't spend time poking around to find it it will rattle around inside the lid for evermore and drive you mad. Been looking for videos to help me remove the trim so I can get get that massive Robin screw that fell off the centre light. It is banging around and driving me nuts! Thanks!
Great video, but snipe nosed pliers get the clips out … And when you put the clips back in the trim put some tiger seal on them so they don’t slip out…. Trust me one doesn’t go on and pops off drives you mad hearing it rattling about in the boot skin. Overall a simple job . And satisfying not getting that annoying “center light fault” pop up every time you drive a couple of leds out..
@@K33EEE no, I removed the original spoiler with the motors and the fixed spoiler had studs that fitted into the same holes as the original one. Just bolted it up
Hi you helped me on my audi t t mk1 alternator lead and crank sfaft sensor..... Would u ever do a petrol pump and sender unit under back seat having major issues.... Thanks dario.... Voltage thing ur ids still there and u done my oil pipe threw ur vids merci buddy
They have earthing issues on the rear , check power at led to negative terminal of battery with multimeter If 12 volts its the earth wire , probably at earting point on module J519 under steering wheel
Few things; Flatbed screwdriver for trim removal is not recommended, you will scratch the plastics! Never leave something hanging to a wire, you might break it (tear inside) and you’ll have a bad time. Don’t be lazy and remove it properly. Hard plastics do hurt your paintwork. Mask it off if you care about your paint!
Thanks for posting this video. I have just replaced the centre brake light on my wife’s TT. I would never have done it without this video. 👍👍👍 cheers
Thanks for creating this video it helped me so much! Tip for the automatic spoiler owners is to lift it up!
Thank you for the fab video, I have just replaced mine and your instructions made it so easy 👍
@@angiet678 thanks 🙏🏽

Tip: do a test fit before removing tape and exposing the glue. You want the part to sit near the bottom rather than near the top where the spoiler is.

Nice tt👍
where did u get this tool from to remove the centre brake light ?
Hey, they were from SnapOn but you can get similar ones from Amazon etc. just search for trim removal tools 👍🏼
Did you connect the boot light wire back up , saw it hanging down before you put the panel on
Hey, there wasn’t a boot light on this part of trim, from memory I think that wire was for the electric spoiler that was originally there. 👍🏼
Great video! Thanks.
Perfect set of instructions, thanks very much 👍
hi...is this centre light the exact same for a roadster ?
Hey, I’m sure it will be slightly different as you have a smaller boot lid, but the general procedure will be the same
This helped. Sooo much thank you ☺️
Buen video visual, llevaba un rato intentandolo y no sabia que estaba pegado, he quitado los tornillos y no salia.
Did you fit the spoiler?
hey , yes some time ago now though, didn't record that one unfortunately
@@GarageTechAutomotive did you drill it onto the original spoiler to fit ?

Lock cover almost certainly doesn’t need to be removed from the tailgate lining as it will simply come off together with the lining still attached.
