Additional note on people who own a SUICA already. The card expire after ten (10) years after the last use. So you can multiuse it for travels.

Some great info here, I am currently in Japan and yes it is hot both day and night! I managed to get a normal Pasmo IC card at Haneda airport. We were attempting to go to a fireworks festival but the closer we got the busier and slower it got. Given again the heat and the fact we were in amongst (by this time) thousands of people we decided to to turn around and give it a miss - it probably would have taken many hours to get a train back from here after the display!

    • @ONOinJapan

  • @gregz85

I will be landing in 7 days! Osaka has the Icoca IC card if you land there and I'm told they have a tourist only Fujin/Raijin card now and it looks amazing! You can get Suica on IPhone and Japanese versions of Android. Sad to hear about the limitations put on Mnt. Fuji but I took Yoshida trail last year and I can see why it had to be done. Its always funny to hear about "high temps" then its the average temp where I live! Humidity is a bunch higher thou so that adds to the yuk. See you all soon!!

@@darkilussion2 I bought a regular Pasmo card. It's a silver card with pink writing and a notch on the right edge. Pretty sure that's not the passport. * New Banknotes: As of July 2024, new 1,000 yen, 5,000 yen, and 10,000 yen banknotes have been issued. These new notes f*eature 3D holograms and are easier to identify. While the old notes remain valid, it's good to be aware of the changes.
    * Fireworks Festivals: Japan hosts numerous fireworks festivals from late July to August. Two notable events include the Sumida River Fireworks Festival on July 27 and the Yokohama Fireworks
Festival on August 5. For a comprehensive list of fireworks festivals in Japan, refer to the link provided in the video description.
    * Extreme Heat: Japan experiences scorching temperatures during the summer, with highs exceeding 30°C, even at night. It's crucial to stay hydrated, wear protective headgear, and seek out air-conditioned spaces to combat the heat. Additional tips on coping with the heat in Japan can be found in another video on the channel.
    * End of Pasmo Pass: The Pasmo Pass, a popular IC card for tourists, was discontinued in June 2024. The Welcome Suica is now the primary IC card readily available to tourists. Welcome Suica cards can be purchased at various locations, such as Terminal 3 of Haneda Airport. More information about acquiring IC cards in Japan is detailed in another video.
    * New Attractions in Shibuya: Shibuya is undergoing a transformation, with numerous new establishments opening. Some notable additions include:
Harajuku, a new shopping complex in Harajuku that opened on April 1, 2024.
Pokémon Card Lounge, an official Pokémon trading card game space located on the 5th floor of Shibuya PARCO.
Shibuya Sakura Stage, a new shopping mall set to open on July 25, 2024.
    * Mount Fuji Climbing Fee: Starting in 2024, a climbing fee of 2,000 yen per person will be imposed for ascending Mount Fuji on the Yamanashi side. Additionally, a daily cap of 4,000 climbers will be enforced. Regulations for climbing Mount Fuji may vary between Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures.
