I left NF 40 years ago. It is heartbreaking to see what it has become.

Another area with the post-apocalyptic look to it.

I wasn't prepared for this when i went there this summer. Sad. Lots of cool property out there.

My old neighborhood never changed. Still a tight group of people live there. People who actually look out for each other. Not a bad neighborhood but not one of the upper class ones either…
This is where I fell I love with Victorian houses. There are some still well kept out there.

The abandoned slum areas are relatively safe, cuz nobody lives there, LOL.

What? The lower aves are plagued with violent crime.

@@eaanyills he's right. East Falls street is totally empty, not much activity. The active parts of town are places like Whitney Avenue, 19th street, Highland Ave etc..

It's crazy. There's like this invisible dividing line. The Falls, and the rest. It's sad

At the rate it is going, Niagara Falls NY will end up empty and decayed just like East St Louis IL and Gary IN. It is a violent destitute city that just cannot turn things around. Ever since the horrendously failed urban renewal that started in 1968, it has been all downhill for Niagara Falls.

I used to live in Niagara Falls New York in the area that was shown I lived over there there was a lot of houses over there when I first came there 2001 when they start building that casino all the people that own houses around their stuff selling the houses to the casino with the promise of the casino was supposed to build up around there button fortunately they have not did anything for that land all they did was scared out all the houses and left looking like that that's why the area looks like it does now till this day

Actually the mass demolition of that neighborhood started back in the early 90s when some snake oil salesman from Edmonton Canada disguised as a real estate developer promised to build a giant mega mall complex on all that land. It eventually fell through. The casino came after 2002.

Courtesy of political corruption, failed urban renewal, deindustrialization, widespread dumping of toxic chemicals, festering poverty and the final nail in its coffin, a tax exempt gambling casino.
