  • In this video I am going to drill two holes through a glass bottle, this can be useful for arts and crafts projects. You can drill the hole using a diamond coated hole saw, or a spear point tile/glass drilling bit.

    I like how you cut out the bit where the drill bit was skating all over the place before it got a start.

    Very useful video. I made a nice lamp from a Roku Gin bottle. There's a leaf pattern moulded into the glass. I used some of the fine copper wire USB string lights as the light source as it's easy to thread them through the hole. I don't have a diamond drill, I used a spear headed tile cutting bit.

    Interesting to know. I've got a big Westons glass cider flagon, I want to make it into a bottle lamp, be good to have the wire going up inside, from the base.

      It's still done, I follow loads of bottle digging channels & quite often they will find bottles with the necks broken off, they clean them up & cut them down into glasses, done properly, with the right abrasives, they get a very smooth finish on the rims!

    if you have a brushed cordless drill and it's normally dim and blue sparks have turned into yellow and bright sparks. don't continue to use it. maybe your model is a spindle motor that needs to be replaced entirely or it's a replaceable carbon brush. don't assume when it dies i will change them and it starts to work again. when sparks get this strong it puts pressure on speed controller circuit and the batteries and battery circuit, result would be that when you change the brushes or motor after a while your device will die again and this time costs would be higher. something i forgot about carbon brushes was sometimes the spring that pushes them forward might lose it's shape or brush holder might deform or carbon brush itself might be chewed from sided very slightly and wiggle in place. so you must have a brand new quality brushes to compare with. hope this save your beloved tools.

    • @ultimatehandyman
      @ultimatehandyman  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      An impact driver will be fine, they only impact rotationally, not backwards and forwards like a hammer drill 👍

    • @curtisss
      @curtisss ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ultimatehandyman honestly I trust what you're telling me but given the option I'd definitely go for a regular drill haha

    • @sherannaidoo2712
      @sherannaidoo2712 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good day mate. Impact driver will only "impact" if there's high enough resistance on the hammers and spring that tensions them. If there's no resistance then it spins just like a drill.

  • @iandale
    @iandale ปีที่แล้ว

    You didn't say which grit wet/dry paper you used to smooth the rough edges. Are we supposed to just intrinsically know which grit is right?! Details are important. Do not omit them.

    • @ultimatehandyman
      @ultimatehandyman  ปีที่แล้ว +2
