About Motherland:
Set in an alternate America where witches ended their persecution over 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the government to fight for their country, “Motherland: Fort Salem” follows three young women from basic training in combat magic into early deployment. In this world, the traditional roles of gender and power are flipped, with the more dominant women on the front lines fighting looming terrorist threats that are familiar to our world-but with supernatural tactics and weapons. This is show is ridiculously good and thought out
well the show just started and YT channel only has 11k subs so if we want it to continue I guess we have to:
- buy a sub to Freeform
- give a review on IMDB,, RT and the rest because so far it's been bombed with negative reviews and the series is at 5/10 atm. I gave it a 10 even though I think it's an 8 because I know a lot of ppl have given it a 1 just out of spite.
- sub to its YT channels and give likes, comments , anything to get the algorithm to suggest it to more ppl.
- request reviews in YT channels that do reviews and criticism. When season 1 ends we need to request this from Honest trailers and the like until they do a review, they are generally pretty fair.

Lyne is so pretty omg. Her facial structure is immaculate.
The love and admiration between Demetria and Lyne made me go AAAAWWWW just like the love and the bonds that seem to exist within the cast in general.
Lyne Renée looks like Alex Ross' Wonderwoman. Strong, warrior-like, square face. Flowing dark hair, clear (blue?) eyes. Tall and imposing posture. This woman is an Amazon!

Love the concept of the biddies. It's a reference to blind devotion to certain military members. Even the kamikaze soldiers of Japan.

Ok 3 episodes in and I have to say, This beats the shit out of Harry potter (from a lore pov at least). I hope they don't cancel this show. :/
I agreeee. A lot of Harry Potter lore developed after the books and movies ended. This show is extremely developed from the start. I spoiled a lot for myself, but every episode they unravel a little bit about the world, about character histories. It keeps the show intriguing. They literally rewrote history, introduced a kind of magical conduit that isn't extremely common (like, fuck wands, right) and expanded it hardcore. The Magicians is done so this has to be my new obsession, they better give it more seasons. It also seems like a big world to explore, this ep they introduced other nations and a nomad community with a new sound, so it seems like setting up other seasons making it a long show wouldn't fuck with continuity.

@@HisameArtwork Probably male viewers. God forbid a show emphasize strong women over men. BTW as a witch in real life, I wish I had those vocal cords. It's also nice to see pentagram shown as they really are: a symbol of protection.
This is very cool about what is happening behind the scenes and getting a more deper look at the carators on the show.
Loved the look of The Hague. Showed just how different militaries looked in Motherland and the politics and military dynamics of the show.🌊🌪🔊🌬🎖🔮🇺🇸🖤

I really love these! The worldbuilding is so unique and interesting and I like getting a deeper look into it and these are helpful for understanding it
I so needed this. I was wondering why so much isnt explained in the show. Also Flossie McKnight is my favourite and I love her and I want to more of her. Her scene was magnificent. This whole show touched on race, gender, sexuality, and with Flossie, body image. I personally thought ofc!!!! Big girls would be ferocious warriors in the air! Also have a lot more inhibitions to what can be done when it must be done. That scene will lift a lot of people. Just had to say that.
Really like the After the Storm feature. Gives a little more detail. (Although I really like the way the show gives hints and tidbits about the world of Fort Salem.) One of the things I do like about the show is the element of ambiguity . . . and I right now I can't shake the idea that the charismatic General Alder is effectively a vampire, and that the Biddies' devotion is the result of indoctrination close to brain washing.
TL:DR: Yeah, absolutely, but said indoctrination needn't be supernatural IMO.
I mean, a part of entirely mundane military training is instilling the mindset of teamwork and sacrifice for a common goal/greater good, some might say a mob mentality. No magic needed, just social psychology. Prominent figures and their deeds get mythologised in our world and militaries, and Alder's been around from literally before living memory. Generations of kids (mundane as well as magical, I'd imagine) have grown up with stories and lessons about her as one of the Founders of the USA.
She kind of IS the embodiment of the concept of military witches in the US, to the extent that the plantlife of the fort mirrors her health. It'd be like having George Washington (with his historical significance universally known) as your commanding officer.
Is she worthy of the devotion given to her? Intentionally ambiguous on the show's part so far :P but I think that devotion is completely understandable from standard military indoctrination and a hefty cult of personality.
@@thomasjoychild4962 Interesting comment. I'm guessing we'll see more of General Alder's nature , for good or ill, in S2. Oh, and re the George Washington comparison. Remember the title sequence? In it we see General Alder crossing the Delaware . . .

It's a role reversal of the genders. The women fight while the men stay home and take care of the children.
It's pretty obvious they're just support. They don't seem to have the abilities the women have but they are still witchers by lineage so they're helping out the military effort in other ways.
There are Male Witches too. They're called Warlocks usually, but they're off fighting elsewhere.
@@ShadowSonic2 It has been argued that the correct term for a male-witch is "Wizard." And that Warlock actually refers to a low or contemptible man. However, that said, supernatural terminology is not necessarily rigid and the warlock has certainly been used to refer to male-witches.

Oh FFS I love Scylla but you guys need to realize she's not the main character or the main focus of the show. Be happy when Amalia is interviewed and just skip the other videos. You're why people hate Scylla for no reason.
I'm kinda confuse bcoz this witches are good or bad..in this episode I've seen that the CAPTAIN is taking teenager's young life... And kinda giving her old life.. is that spree are good people.. or Scylla.. rest apart I'm feeling bad for Raelle.. and I like how Scylla wanna makeout everywhere.. She is badass..😅
way to look at the characters/world in a binary lo. The best writing shows you nuance much like REAL people. A lot of shows carve out characters as one or the other but ist never that simple
Confused because there are no evil villains and heroic heroes... maybe this isn't the show for you. Also Alder is a General, not a captain.
Why didnt Alder ever get punished for singing that song after seeing her sister die, no matter what the reason was? I am sure nowadays she would punish every soldier who does something out of trauma
