I love how even when the whole Soviet campaign is basically the Soviets crushing the Germans back into Berlin the soundtrack never sounds victorious or epic (except the flag scene in the reichstag), it always sounds like something wrong is going on. Even the Soviet theme sounds more like a threat to Germany than a victory to the URSS.
Nailed it spot on. I feel like that's because WaW's portrayal of war is just so... Real. It isn't romanticized, glorified or uplifting. In fact, the game's atmosphere is downright oppressive and creepy at times. It simply shows war as war: the brutal bloodstained landscape that it is.

They portrayed how the Red Army was waging revenge against Germany because of the treatment they received when the Axis was winning the war. For the other Allies members, this was more a duty than anything else. For the Soviet Union, this was personal. Imagine the bloodlust and desire of revenge of the Red Soviet Army as an unstoppable horde of hungry zombies. They were similar to that.

If you study history and remember what inhumane acts the Germans committed during their occupation of the Soviet Union, it will become clear why the Russians were so cruel to the German invaders. Most people in the West don't even know what hell the Nazis turned the lives of ordinary Soviet people into. Because in Western propaganda, the Russians were presented as even more evil than the German beasts led by Hitler! Learn history and don't listen to the propagandists.

Still one of the best soundtracks, I have recently played the game over as I was a lot younger and naive at the time of its release. If you were in my shoes a 15 year old or younger when this came out initially, I highly suggest revisiting this campaign.
This battle is often incorporated into the Battle of the Oder-Neisse. The Seelow Heights was where some of the most bitter fighting in the overall battle took place, but it was only one of several crossing points along the Oder and Neisse rivers where the Soviets attacked. The Battle of the Oder-Neisse was itself only the opening phase of the Battle of Berlin. The result was the encirclement of the German 9th Army and the Battle of Halbe.
They just need to dare more to show the reality of the American soldiers, since they did not even want to be in war but they were obliged and were aware of the casualties of the war.
All nations who took part in the war contributed to the fight. For the Allies we have thank America getting in the fight and supplying her allies,Britain for holding the line against the German bombing and helping the underground French resistance. Russia for stopping Hitler's troopers on eastern front. Canada,Poland and Australia for being excellent pilots and tank fighters and thank you China for distracting Japan so America could take the islands back from Japan. And Italy for being useless to Germany in North Africa and defecting to allies once she was defeated.
DamuEmran It also helps to mention the Germans against Hitler's ideals, who disagreed with everything he'd done and helped turn information over to help the Allies :)

I wish Sean Murray would come back and do more music for these games. It's not the same without him, he knows how to make you pump up and keep going forward till you finish the mission.

Im 23. I think I was 8 when this came out or 9. I still think it was the best COD ever made. Maybe one of the darkest and grittiest shooter games of all time.

Still one of the best soundtracks, I have recently played the game over as I was a lot younger and naive at the time of its release. If you were in my shoes a 15 year old or younger when this came out initially, I highly suggest revisiting this campaign.

CoD WAW portrayed the Soviets not as heroes but as vengeful soldiers as they should be
They just need to dare more to show the reality of the American soldiers, since they did not even want to be in war but they were obliged and were aware of the casualties of the war.

All nations who took part in the war contributed to the fight. For the Allies we have thank America getting in the fight and supplying her allies,Britain for holding the line against the German bombing and helping the underground French resistance. Russia for stopping Hitler's troopers on eastern front. Canada,Poland and Australia for being excellent pilots and tank fighters and thank you China for distracting Japan so America could take the islands back from Japan. And Italy for being useless to Germany in North Africa and defecting to allies once she was defeated.
