Pakhawaj is very much used for hindustani music, both as an accompanying instrument & as solo performance. It mostly accompanies those instruments with more base like surbahar & rudra veena. In vocal it accompanies dhrupad.

I am among the dislikes. Reason is this can be done as special program bet tabla and pakhawaj. Abhang wani is not the appropriate place for that. No doubt it is happened by Panditji's consent but if u see his expression he doesn't seem to be happy with all that mara mari is happening bet them.

Also, musicians on stage (particularly in a larger concert setting such as this) are (should be) very conscious of whether or not their sound is being projected correctly. It may not be always feasible to hire a personal sound engineer who would already know what the musician's sound requirements are. Hence, certain indications may be needed to be made to the hired sound engineer to set the sound profile accordingly. (Increasing/decreasing certain frequencies, etc.) Tuning the instrument/re-adjusting sound settings is not something that a musician does for recreation. The effort is only to make music more enjoyable to the audience.

I HAVE SEEN MOST OF THE PERCUSSIONSTS NEVER SEEMS TO BE HAPPY WITH THEIR SOUND AND KEEPS INCREASING THEIR VOLUME NEVER SATISFIED..!
