If you live "near" the city you really want to live in, what you're actually doing is living in your car. If you let go of the car, it's likely you can afford to live in the real city instead. And then the city gets a little better because there's one less car in it.
Not the case for everyone. Software engineers working in those tech companies, for example, can work from home and go to the office once a week or once a month. I hate cities, so i'd definitely want to stay in a chill town vs living in the city.
Spot on about Bastrop, coming from an Austin refugee. Another thing about Bastrop, you’re still only 20 minutes away from the airport and Circuit of Americas.
Can't beat Manor. 2000 sq ft homes for 400-450k and only 15mins from central Austin. It takes me longer to get to my gym, let alone downtown, here in PA.
M husband and I are trying to figure out where we want to move. We want to live in the country but within 45 min drive of a major city. What area's would you recommend outside Austin? We are not looking for anything above $200k
Is there any place left near Austin that is rural and still not building hosing tracks, shopping outlets or bizillon square foot mega-factories or tech companies?

Overpriced but Goodluck
@@FranceGaulGallia Much smaller homes 45+ minutes away are significantly more expensive so I would say they are priced very well.
@@RockGuitarist1
There could be other reasons why they are priced that way but it is a highly overpriced market.
The only thing Manor has going for it is a paved, separated bike trail that goes to Austin.

What's the point of living so far from Austin if you have to drive into Austin to work and fight traffic morning and noon
That's how people are being silly buying houses in suburbs at 2x prices
What about spicewood?

Is Rosedale a suburb of Austin?
No, it's for sure a central Austin neighborhood.
Why are you sending the locusts to the very areas where locals are going to get away from your type?
People who flee to car land deserve what they get.
