I have been watching and learning from you since you started the TH-cam videos. I just wanted to say thank you for your knowledge and education. God bless you! Take care.
Lovely
I’m in New Zealand and found Mikes video last year what a relief to find a gentleman who has so much knowledge & experience so I don’t make rookie mistakes ❤thanku bless u Mike
Thanks Silvas, Mike
Man I've been sitting right next to you doing the same thing this gentlemen is a living legend
You always make it look so easy Mike, but I know that's 50 years of experience right there. Always like watching your vids Mike as you are passing on decades of experience so other people can watch how you do stuff and maybe it give it a go themselves. Much peace to ya Mike.
Thanks dazuk, Mike
I would pay money to see Mike tackle a job where he starts off by saying, "you know what, this is a BIG DEAL!"
Thanks Paul, Mike
"No big deal" . . . . a lesson for life.
Thanks, Mike
Hi Mike, Iwas just wondering where you were. 😎
Thanks keef, Mike
A rolling stone gathers no moss. You keep going Mike! That’s how you keep fitness and flexibility. As soon as you start retiring, it all starts catching up. I just kind of hurt myself helping my nephew move some furniture and man, I have been behind a desk for a few years and I was hugging and puffing and I am in worst shape than I thought. I got to use it, or lose it!
Hi Joe, I feel myself losing it for sure, thanks Mike
Yo good to see you punch out another vid mate, appreciate you sharing your craft over the years. I otherwise never would've come to learn and appreciate anything about masonry
Thanks Zeff,, Mike
Mike you are a wonder. I have taken inspiration from every video that I have seen. I have tackled several masonry jobs around my house and property based on your advice, "no big deal". Just do it. I said to myself. Thanks Bro you just don't ever know how important you can be to another person. God Bless!
Thanks clw, I appreciate hearing that, Mike
I'd prefer to just hire Mike lol
Use wad nails to attach lath. It holds the mesh about 3/16 away from the paper. That way the stucco goes around the mesh, to form a mechanical bond. And use metal screed all along the bottom. It will allow for proper drainage. Without it, the top coat along the lower area will peel off eventually.
Hi Richard, I never had a problem, but I believe you, thanks mike
Hi Mike! It's always a good video! I'm tempted to say stucco is a lot of work...truth is everything is a lot of work, especially if you are going to do it right. Concrete needs patience and a certain amount of back and forth. You always give helpful instructions so we can diy and feel good about it. Thanks Mike , always enjoy your videos!
Thanks, I appreciate it, Mike
Mike You are the best.I have also been following You since You started TH-cam and I have learned so much and have done so much to My property and My Parents property so thanks for Your knowledge.I also Love all Your Music and My favorite I must have listened to at least 10 thousand times is waiting fir the times to change. You are a man of many talents.Have a great day👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thanks Mike , great job . I may try some stucko myself some time .
Thanks Doug, mike
Recently moved from Oregon to Denver to get into the trade primarily a hod carrier but sometimes allowed on repair jobs & tuckpointing, some of the multi million dollar Voctorian homes here are mind blowing, glad to have your channel to go alonside my job to really help me learn. The most underrated trade in my opinion. Thanks for all you do Mike, although the trade is in decline the end is far from over.
Thanks Stall, I appreciate hearing that, Mike
Hi Mike, Thanks for the new vid! Hope your enjoying life down in Margaritaville.. Merry Christmas!
Thanks rbrazz, Mike
Great job Mike , I’m a painter I know what you mean always have to fix something before application.
Thanks, Mike
"OLD SCHOOL" is the only school, thxs for sharing...
Thanks, Tom, Mike
Good thing your in the shade. Worked in ft Lauderdale and had a guy spraying while we mudded the walls in 98 temps full sun
Hi knut, it was cold that day for sure, thanks Mike
Looks great Mike,
Got film of projects in Florida,
Hi Steve, I have some coming up next year, Thanks Mike
Look who it is, my favorite mason! Nice informative video as always. “no big deal”. 👍🏼
Thanks Clint, Mike
merry christmas mike! i'm coming up to gettysburg pa soon
Thanks Andrew, Merry Christmas, I am in Florida now but thanks, Mike
Another good looking job Mike. You're right about not calling people back for little things. Mostly just creates animosity that might show up in other areas. Unless it's a deliberate pattern of short cutting.
Thanks guill,, Mike
Looks good! Oh man.... dried cement or concrete splatter on glass. That is hard to get off!
Thanks gibson,, Mike
My new advice to my children whenever they are in a tough situation is " don't over think it just get it done don't make a big deal about it
Thanks atown, Mike
Hey Brother.... Just wanted to say, Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year.... 🎉 GOD Bless Brother Ernie
Thanks Ernie, Happy new year, merry Christmas and God bless, Mike
My favorite part about your work is you make do without any of the fancy stuff. Don’t have a wide crown stapler-no big deal, no scarifier-no big deal, prep crew does a rinky dink job hanging the diamond lathe-no big deal still got the job done 👍🏼
Thanks AV, Mike
Skills
Thanks edd, Mike
My masonry hero always delivers a great result. Even one, with mesh.
Happy New Year Sir 🍾
Thanks again Richard, happy new year, Mike
My 1920 house has old school stucco, like what you just built, Mike.Good work----!And thanks for the bible quote at the end.In NYC, the masons lay up wire.
Thanks Todd, Mike
The man who knows. No B.S. no mystery. *****
Thanks John, Mike
Hey Mike! I bet you're not missing the freeze-thaw cycles of PA. Great video. Thanks.
Hi Bob, I don't miss it,thanks, Mike
A lot of work, but it looks so nice.
Thanks tickyul,, Mike
thx mike! your an art-teast! from what i see and being schooled from MHSOHK's it's under a porch protected from sun rain weather and such. using screen in my opinion from learning from you. will be out of the moisture and not getting wet directly so should last longer look new for years to come and so should the paint job
Thanks Dan, Mike
Hi Mike. Good video. So you're in Florida now have you witnessed how DR Horton does stucco? I live in a DR Horton development and coming from Indiana, I'm still adapting to the construction techniques down here. The exterior walls are concrete block of course. They do NOT wet them at all when they put the brown coat on and they immediately follow with the texture. The texture guys use a hawk and rake the mix off the hawk with the backside of their trowel and splatter it on the walls. They then knock the texture down with their flat trowel. Within a month it's painted!
Hi Mark, I been watching them, I am going to do a video on it eventually, thanks Mike
👍👍👍👍
Thanks again, Mike
I came here, because Mike debunked the Lost Ancient Tech Cult, I'm still here because Mike is cool!
-now I am watching stuff about Stucco! :D
Thanks landeven , Mike
Love your videos, god bless. Question: How well does stucco hold up to the rain and snow? Thanks again
Hi jom, a lot depends on how much it gets wet, and where it is but it I would say we'll in most cases, thanks Mike
Dash finish
Typically texture with hawk and trowel
Thanks average guy, Mike
I own a real-estate company in Cincinnati we do remodeling and repairs day in and day out....
Since I've been watching Mike I've copied his saying "No big deal" My maintenance guys hate it when they come on a tedious job...
I just say No big deal lol
Thanks Tom, I appreciate it, Mike
Hi Alvor,, I been doing this for over 50 years and have not had any callbacks, thanks Mike
@@MikeHaduck Nice job Mike have a Nice night thas is my opinión but you are the Master.
Awesome job Mike. Were you in Moore Haven, FL recently by chance? I saw someone in a car who looked like you.
Hi nult,, I go through there a lot, thanks Mike
Thank you, wonderful video. Do you recommend that type of expanded metal wire lathe or is there a better type to use for traditional exterior stucco?
Hi US3, I think a lot of it depends on the area you live, thanks Mike
Thank you, I love watching your videos, I’m in nearby Scranton, so your explanations are even more meaningful because of the old school people I grew up with here in coal country and our cold climate. -Tony
Great video...question...how long after your last coat did you hit it with the soupy mix then flatten ...??
Hi setdown, depends on weather but usually within a half hour, in my situation, best to practice on a piece of plywood first, to get the feel, thanks Mike
Weigh two geaux, 🎤 👊 ✌️
Thanks, blue line, Mike
Thanks for this, are you in a winter climate? I really like stucco but i also plan on living in a winter or maybe more wet environment like Seattle. How could one account for this?
Hi Alex, I don't know, every area has their own techniques, thanks mike
how's it going down in Florida missing the winter snow for Christmas?
Hi ranger, I don't miss it at all, thanks Mike
Mike. Been meaning to ask. If want to slow down how Quick Rapid Set gets hard to 30 minutes, how much sand should I add?
Hi, I rarely add sand and then in only certain circumstances, everything depends what you are doing, thanks Mike
I want to do this to my chimney, the caping is all busted up and the brick is apparently this super soft garbage that they had to stop using in 70-80’s. it doesn’t seem so straightforward though because it seems like they broke the brick to be jagged and not uniform like a rock face. Any tips
Hi crisp, I got a playlist called "chimney repair", Mike haduck, all my techniques I use are in there, thanks mike
song idea I'm A Soldier In The Army Of The Lord (from the motion picture The Apostle)
Thanks Ben, Mike
I would buy a small pump to feed concrete to your trowel. you would waste less body energy going back and forth 🙂
Hi geo, it's too small a job for that, thanks Mike
Hey Mike. How long do you wait for the stucco to dry until you put on the splash coat with the brush?
Before I put on the second and splash coat usually 2 week to a month depending on weather, everything depends, thanks Mike
@MikeHaduck Good to know, Mike. Thanks. Merry Christmas, and God bless you.
I didn't think you like using wire mesh. In this case was it required to used?
Hi Jacob, over wood we had to, thanks Mike
do they use a nail gun to put up the mesh?
Hi Shakespeare, most times anymore I would say yes, Thanks, Mike
Why not cover the window frames with a masking frame?
Hi ghos,,, you could, it 6 in one hand or half a dozen in the other, a lot depends on the windows and job, thanks, Mike
@MikeHaduck, I'm in PA and could use your expertise, is there some way to contact you directly?
Hi user, I moved to Florida, but thanks for asking, Mike
@@MikeHaduck Well thank you for the guidance
looks like a lot of work your arm must be tired after all that troweling on cement
Hi ranger, Yep, it is getting to me, no jobs like that anymore, thanks Mike
When the Annunaki return to reclaim the pyramids they constructed with alien space Lazers. This video will be proof, that Mike is an Annunaki.
:-))
Thanks Gypsy, lol, Mike
It looked better smooth without splashing it.
Hi Kevin, it's what they want, thanks Mike
@@MikeHaduck is that the normal method of traditional stucco? My 1930s house is stucco and has a large pitted look.
@kevinajjenkins hi Kevin, I learned from the old timers, thanks, Mike
no big dealer im from turkey i
Thanks, mike
Хелло, Майк! Привет тебе из далёкой еврейской автономной области, Россия!
Thanks, Mike
The wire lath was not installed correctly you shouldn't run it vertical it would not pass inspection in Florida and you should only nail on the studs and a real Plasterer uses a hawk and trowel and that texture is for unskilled workers who can't lay it down correctly and also if you take that long the do a job yu will never keep up with any kind of schedule but for homeowner doing it your self it will work but this will not pass inspection
Hi Stephan, I been doing this for over 50 years and have never had a callback, in legal terms that's called precedent, it ain't florida, I think these inspectors should be questioned about their qualifications, give full written inspection reports and be fully responsible for all actions and inactions, thanks, Mike
old school
youre very very cute sugar
Thanks
you are very cute...you say please
no big dealer
Thanks again, Mike
What an old stain
Thanks Lawrence, Mike
Wow such a cute man❤❤❤
Thanks, Mike
