In this session led by Mitchell, attendees will gain insights into leveraging visual calculations to streamline DAX calculations in Power BI.
Mitchell will explore this new capability, providing participants with a clear understanding of its functionality and potential applications. Emphasis will be placed on replacing complex DAX calculations with simplified visual calculations.
You and Mitchell will also explore:
- Optional parameters and their implications in enhancing analysis and reporting tasks
- Considerations and limitations associated with visual calculations compared to conventional DAX writing methods
By the end of the session, attendees will have acquired practical knowledge to simplify their DAX calculations effectively while being mindful of the existing constraints.

Thanks for that
This is great! Thank you, Luca. Did you use a tool for this or just a really great note-taker? ð
@@PragmaticWorks No tools, just noticed mid-session this morning that there weren't any chapters so went back to the start, went through what I'd seen noting timestamps on my phone for decent chapter separation, thought of the titles in addition to the one in the session and then finished the rest while noting timestamps all the way to the end ^^ And then wrote the comment on my computer using my notes ^^ Happy to see that you already incorporated them in the session itself ^^
Also thanks for all the content recorded on YT, I've been able to learn a lot about Power BI, data modeling and analysis in a short amount of time for my internship !
@@LucaKouwenhoven We are glad you are enjoying the content and appreciate the assist on the chapters. Thank you!
Excellent as usual. Shared on LinkedIn, in case any colleagues or clients missed it. Professor Mitch is awesome!!!
Loved this session, the presentation style was very engaging. Thanks.
Thank you Michel for this great content.
Great Tutorial Mitchell. You go out of your way to drive in a point.
Thank you for such a enriching and enlightening video. God bless
Great course, thank you for sharing :)
Smart tip using Format function, but if we sorted it will sorted as text not numeric, do you have a recommendation ?
I have a column sales[agent] and a measure [Total sales], I tried "Running Sum" but it is sorted by sales[agent] column and can't be sorted by [total sales] measure, any option!!
Is there a library of Visual Calculations and the arguments they take? Example [14:33] how do you know the [Axis] argument takes ROWS as one of its options. Unless I saw this tutorial I'd have to do a web search on it.
This document here, is very thorough:
learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/transform-model/desktop-visual-calculations-overview
I've downloaded the files through the link above (Student files) but the content of the files is about "Copilot for Microsoft 365 Workshop" not "Visual Calculations in Power BI - DAX ". Please, how can I get the right files?
You can find the files here: prag.works/dax-made-easy-student-files
I got the right files through the link in the "Thank You" email I received from Pragmatic Works, Thanks!
Hey Can see the student file, Please assist
