Wow racehorses are alot different to what they used to be. Back in the old days they used to feed them oats and they would be keyed up and on their toes all the time - a real job to handle.

that is how i learned to ride started at age 10. Got on my pony and rode around inside the pasture , walked trotted and cantered all in one day. My pony was 12.3 hands. i didn't grow taller than 5 foot 6 by age 15.
honestly you are teaching someone and using a "Market Harborough" on the horse, poor dead mouth poor horse i suppose if you want to teach it to pull that's the way to do it, it will never cease to amaze me the lack of basic horse education there is out there, can i recommend steve young horsemanship learn how not to have to use tack like that and make your horse light. A fellow of the bhs once said me whilst training practice makes perfect but not if you are practicing wrong, so the moral is it really matters whom you learn from. but aye its your choice. 😮💨
