Dreamcatcher and Loona are the 2 groups where you learn new things every time you rewatch their MVs. As fans, we are still learning new things each time too so don't feel bad for not knowing :D Every MV has at least 2 outfits. Each representing a light side, and a dark side. As the story progresses, the light within struggles with the dark.
Jiu seeing herself means the nightmare has happened. She has a sixth sense ability.
The scene after the spider is killed, the butterflies around Jiu vanishes. Meaning the girls will no longer have sweet dreams.
Spinning clocks and tops are also symbolic. In some asian cultures, seeing those objects in your nightmares mean something bad is going to happen - it means a repeating cycle.
In some theories, the girls aren't actually dead but "transformed", cursed. In What MV, they wake up in their real bodies after being freed. But Yoohyeon is still not saved. The spider witch possessed her body in You and I, that's why the scene when she woke up, she was still wearing the witch's dress. But when she lies down to sleep, she re-enters the nightmare because the witch's curse was the strongest on the person who burned her to death.

일단 각각의 뮤비에 대한 해석은 다양하고 각각의 해석을 존중하지만 저 설명은 스토리 라인의 순서를 너무 바꾼 것 같네요
스토리 순서의 정설은 날아올라 - Chase me - Good night - You and I - What - Piri 입니다.
날아올라에서는 거미에게 저주 받는 모습이 나옵니다.
체이스 미에서는 호텔 혹은 기숙사에 찾아온 남자를 악몽이 된 소녀들이 괴롭히죠
굿나잇에서는 사실 그 남자가 고스트 헌터였음이 드러납니다. 수아가 사로잡히고 다른 멤버들도 쫓기는 등 위험에 처하지만 결국 헌터의 공격수단이었던 책을 빼앗으면서 역으로 남자를 가두게 되죠. 그리고 악몽 소녀들은 그곳을 떠납니다. (이 뒤에 발매된 Full moon이라는 팬송의 프로모션 영상에는 어린 소녀가 책 하나를 가지고 좋아하는 남성이 자신에게 빠지도록 주술을 거는 모습이 나오는데 good night에서 악몽 소녀들이 떨어뜨린 책을 그 어린 소녀가 주웠다는 설이 있습니다.)
다음은 유앤아이..여기서부터는 해석이 난해해집니다만 그나마 영상이랑 매칭이 잘 된 설 하나를 기준으로 설명하겠습니다.
사진관에서 사람들을 악몽으로 괴롭히고 장난을 치며 지내던 악몽소녀들에게 거미여인이 다시 찾아옵니다. 영상 초반에 사진에 나온 두 소녀는 거미줄에 잡힌 게 영상 속에 나오죠. 그리고 유현은 거미여인이 직접 저주를 걸고 빙의해버립니다. 다른 소녀들이 주술로 유현의 몸에서 거미여인을 내쫓으려 하지만 위협적인 모습에 소녀들은 당해낼 수 없어 결국 유현을 두고 떠납니다. 그리고 유현은 혼자 남게 되죠. (해당 앨범의 Mayday란 곡이 혼자 남게 된 유현이 구해달라고 외치는 내용이란 설이 있습니다.)
What에서 혼자 남게 된 유현은 거미여인에게 몸을 내주고 맙니다. (유현이 직접 내줬다는 설이 좀 더 영상의 소품들을 봤을 때 적절하다고 봅니다.)
그리고 다른 멤버들을 잡아오게 되죠. 그렇게 전부 사로잡히면서 영상이 끝납니다.
피리는 악몽스토리의 마지막 파트입니다. (해당 앨범의 이름도 악몽의 끝입니다.)
피리를 붊으로써 서로에게 혹은 제3자에게 도움을 요청하는 내용이고 결말의 해석은 보통 두 갈래로 나뉩니다.
하나는 결국 모든 소녀들이 흩어진 채 영원히 악몽 속을 헤맨다는 것이고요 (드림캐쳐가 직접 새드엔딩이라고 말했다는 댓글도 본 적이 있는데 제가 직접 확인한 게 아니라 사실인지는 모릅니다.)
다른 하나는 피리 MV 마지막 부분에 손을 잡고 있는 모습이 일본 앨범 타이틀 Breaking out의 마지막 모습과 비슷한 것, 그리고 해당 앨범의 이름이 끝의 시작이라는 것을 볼 때 해당 곡이 피리에서 이어지는 스토리이며, 결국 서로를 찾고 악몽 속에서 빠져나온다는 것입니다. (피리에서 이어지는 것이 아니라 세컨드 엔딩이라는 설도 있습니다)
그리고 데자부에 대한 설명을 보충하자면 데자부에는 두 가지 스토리가 있습니다.
하나는 MV의 스토리, 하나는 가사의 스토리입니다. (드림캐쳐가 언급한 오피셜입니다)
MV의 스토리는 드림캐쳐 측에서 만든 새로운 스토리이고 가사의 스토리는 게임의 스토리입니다.
영어로도 쓰고 싶은데 이걸 다 영어로 쓰자니 내 영어실력으로는 한참 걸릴 것 같아서 엄두가 안 나네...
It's interesting because in 'Fly High', the last line in the song said by Dami was "I'm trapped in the Nightmare"... that is a big giveaway bc they're literally trapped in You and I to save Yoohyeon

These girls are honestly so great. They're a bit more niche, but I think their uniqueness is also one of their main selling points, because there aren't any mainstream Kpop groups that are like Dreamcatcher at all. Honestly, I don't think they have any bad songs at all.

The storyline is very complex and interesting... The fun part is that they always explain a couple of things about their mvs, but the full story is open for us to create theories about it. My personal theory is that you and i is a follow up to good night, instead of fly high. Cause i think the book was proven very important for their safety during good night mv, and since they lost it at the end of good night mv, the spider queen attacked them in you and i cause they were vunerable without the book.
Some fun fact about Fly high: In american native culture, there is a myth about a boy who saved a spider, and the spider queen gave him a dreamcatcher made of spider web to protect him from nightmares. In fly high, since yoohyeon burned the spider, the spider queen decided to punish them, by cursing them and turning them into nightmare entities. At the end of fly high mv, the curse was supposed to spread to the whole world, but jiu stopped it by closing the gate instead of running away, so only the 7 of them got cursed.
I really hope you can keep en eye out for them and their unique concept. It seems we got a comeback coming our way soon!

Further, "What" and "Piri" are still related to the Nightmare series but in a more distant fashion. Also "Deja Vu" recalls certain elements from the previous videos, with a scene of Siyeon standing in front of a flame shooting upward recalling the firecasting in "You And I" (where she is developing film) and golden butterflies surrounding Ji U recalling the butterflies flying around her in "Fly High". There are lots of little nuggets like these in their videos when you look!
This even extends to their album artwork, which has continually refined the Dreamcatcher logo design and motif over each release. Overall, their aesthetic is very intricate and this helps to make them really stand apart from other groups.

Fly high에서 마지막 춤추는 장면을 하늘에서 찍은 건 병 속에 갇힌 나비를 표현한거 같아요. 뮤비 시작에서 지유가 서있을 때 나비가 지유 근처를 날아다니고 마지막엔 학교(?) -> 병(거미 잡아 넣은) 안에 갇혀서 악몽이 되는 걸 표현한 거 같네요.
Your videos are great! Love seeing you reacting and learning about Dreamcatcher. However you might have got the wrong information. I think the correct order is Fly High -> Chase Me -> Good Night -> You and I. This is because at the end of You and I Yoohyeon is trapped in a dream world while in Chase Me she's still okay. And this is where Piri picks up.
Edit: Additionally, Chase Me and Good Night tells the story between Fly High and You and I, more like what they have been up to as cult members/witch. It's bridging between the two. Like an extension of the girls' menace.
What is also part of the storyline. If you watch the MV carefully, you can see the witch book that appeared in Good Night.

what i find fascinating with dreamcatcher is that many mv's have multiple meanings...for example the song chase me sounds like its about them, their history and how they go forward from there,... but the video is about their concept and the storyline

After watching both LOONA and Dreamcatcher, I really hope one day the Nightmare Universe will intersect with the LOONAverse. They can have a storyline where it was Dreamcatcher who corrupted LOONA and someone comes in and saves them.

I watched their Scream performance on Music Bank.. and fell in love immediately. My brother always pushed me to listen to their song since the Piri era, but I just ignored him. Now, I'm OBSESSED!!!! HAHAHAHAHA. My go-to songs are Black or White, Jazz Bar and Screammmmmm.

억 또 외국이랑 다른점! 외국에서는 날아올라 다음 유앤아로 해석하나봐요… 근데 한국에서는 날아올라 다음 체이스미, 굿나잇, 유앤아이, 왓, 피리 순입니당… 한국 해석을 간단히 해보자면… 이 댓글을 보실지는 모르겠지만!! 날아올라에서 유현이가 지유가 잡아온 거미를 태워버립니다. 근데 그 거미는 거미여인이었고, 화가난 거미여인은 멤버들을 악몽에 가둬 버립니다. 다음, 체이스미에서는 악몽속에서 아이들이 모두 악몽으로 변해서 사람들을 꿈속에서 괴롭히고 다녀서 악몽헌터가 아이들을 잡으러 옵니다. 굿나잇에서는 몇몇 멤버들이 악몽헌터에게 잡히게 되지만, 다미가 거울을 통해 악몽헌터가 멤버들을 잡을때 쓴 책을 가지고와 멤버들을 풀어주고, 악몽헌터를 거울속에 가둔후 현실세계로 나갑니다. 유앤아이에서는 현실세계에 온 아이들이 사진관을 운영하며 사진을 찍은 사람들을 괴롭히며 살아가지만, 그걸 눈치챈 거미여인이 유현이에게 접근해 다시 악몽으로 만들어버립니다. 여기서 지유가 유현이를 살리기 위해서 의식을 치루기도 하지만, 유현이가 살면, 지유가 죽을뻔하고, 지유가 살면, 다시 유현이가 악몽이 되어버립니다. 그다음 왓에서는 악몽이 된 유현이 멤버들을 다시 악몽속으로 끌어들일려고 했고, 마지막 피리에서는 유현이도 다시 악몽에서 빠져나가려고 하지만 거미여인이 모두를 다시 악몽속으로 끌고와 모두가 악몽에서 빠져나오지 못했다. 라는 이야기입니다. 외국 해석도 너무너무 재밌네용…ㅠㅠ
well the plot isn't that important since I'm sure all dreamcatcher fans like them for the music. besides, there are more than one interpretation for the mvs. it's just extra material for fans to theorize over.
so sera, what do the people you know think about rock? from what I heard by other korean(youtubers), most people don't listen to rock/metal?
To me Dreamcatcher is the female version of Vixx - darker themes and complex music videos (that have more than one theme) - with amazing talent (not saying they are exactly like Vixx - but they have certain of the same qualities - and btw I love VIXX)
I love when the first scene where Yoohyeon says thrillerr everyone does the choreography.
