Paul and Bob have provided some of the comedic highlights of my life. These programmes have been , at differing times, heart warming, life affirming, touching and hilario. Less than a year ago, I was where Bob and Paul where pre-op. A simple visit to my doctor resulted in me having a treble heart bypass, a much more senior operation(no disrespect Mr Whitehouse). It was after my diagnosis, that these amazingly simple and beautiful programmes become my lifeline, my mental anchor and a great place to reflect. To anyone who reads this, please seek medical advice if something, even the simplest thing doesn't feel normal. I did and it probably saved my life, and Paul and Bob's antics and reflections saved my mental health too. Thanks guys, tight lines.
Yet again a sublime piece of entertainment. If you are ever feeling melancholy, Bob catching that salmon will put a smile on your face and lift your heart, guaranteed!
From a pommy living in New Zealand… feels quite emotional to watch this and admit how beautiful the British countryside is and always holds a purity. These two legends of British TV have made a wholesomeness out of something I never knew I needed… please keep making them :)
What a voice - what a singer - and what a beautiful gesture to a friend as a grand finale to a great and gorgeous day on the river with a rod a mate a dog and the grandest of all fish a salmon !🙏

I don't know why I haven't watched this before. Love Bob, and he's perfect with Paul. Almost in tears about the cynicism part and how there are always decent people about. Bob and Paul are decent people and very peaceful now. Love it.
What a wonderful, heartwarming series. I never understood why anyone would want to spend hours trying to catch a fish - until now. It's difficult to find something worth watching these days - so much violent and depressing content offered - but this is so uplifting and an absolute joy to watch. Thank you xxx
That scene with the record playing was pure gold, what a wonderful family history, good show Whitehouse you should be rightly proud old boy, and well done to Mortimer for setting it up.
Just finished catching up on the whole set. Came to this in series 3. A fishing programme, where fishing is not important it's the friendship, the places, the guests and the ill health. This must be up there as one of, if not the best, programmes ever devised for TV.

I'm a Brit now living abroad and just stumbled across this series. An incredible insight into how two mates can just get away from this mad world and enjoy each others company. Always liked both of them but together they are simply outstanding. Nice going guys and keep it coming.

Paul's heart must have been fit to burst when he heard his mum's voice on that record. I know mine was. But then to see Bob get his Christmas English Salmon, finished me off.
I don’t live in the Uk anymore but after listening to bobs book it brought me here and made want to go fishing with my best mate, who has been being me to go for years
These guys remind me a little of the two fishermen, Bob James and Chris Yates who starred in the series "A Passion for Angling" which was shown on the BBC I believe, over 30 years ago. The series is still available on DVD. Some episodes are on TH-cam and are well worth watching.
Judg by the surrounding foliage this was filmed in August/September. I know that these programs have to be filmed in advance but,come on, try to be authentic.
Said August/September…maybe July this “Christmas special “was filmed. Get a grip,produces, At least try to be authentic. Shudder at the thought of an Easter special filmed in December. Spoils the whole thing.

As an expat that has lived in Southern California for 30 year’s, this show and these two gentlemen , almost make me want to come home.
