really enjoyed this, it maybe ancient history but there is a huge retro computer community out there who have had to get to grips with this stuff in order to repair and maintain this old tech, in that sense it's very current.

Nice coverage, but you seem to have mistaken the 74LS244 for a 74LS240. The '244 is not an inverting buffer. The inverting buffer is the '240.
Great video. Is there a particular reason why sometimes these chips can go bad? For example, in music equipment the 74HC138 can go bad over time.
