My friend said you can fix "no disk" errors and "disk unreadable" issues this way, what he neglected to mention was how far to turn the screws. ONLY TURN IN MILLIMETRE INCREMENTS! My friend said keep turning till tight -.- he was drastically wrong, and took my an hour just turning the screws to get it working. But this video does help, couldn't of done it without it, thanks :D
I owe u a million F'ing dollars. I just bought GTA5 and my Xbox pulled its usual sh*t (not being able to read games), so I sat there for like 30 minutes popping out the tray and pushing it back in until I gave up, came to TH-cam and found you! Luckily I already had my Xbox apart for hotswapping so I turned my screws to the left and BAM. I am DLing GTA to my Xbox as we speak. I LOVE YOU MAN! Thanks sooo much. 1/3 turn on the left 1/8 turn on the right.
Not to say this isn't good but pot adjustments tutorials have been around for years before 2009. The first person that comes to mind is Moda.....Also the left pot adjustment is the DVD and the right is the cd pot adjustment. This has probably been said before in the comments but you probably don't ever need to adjust the cd pot just the DVD.
I've always had good luck when they didn't go down past 3500 on either screw. If they did, the laser generally didn't last long afterwords. Lately, the new DVD drives are coming preadjusted in the 2.5k ranges on the 360 Slim Lite On models for some reason, so I think that they're going to a "if it doesn't read, replace the laser" model. Also, I am finding with the latest dashboard update, that a corrupt default gamesave file on the hard drive can cause this too, so check into that first.
I own a video game store and fix systems. I had trouble with an open tray and I did a tiny tweek to the right like you said to the screws and it worked. I am impressed. you are very good and clear. Subscribing now.
dude I love you. my shit worked on its first try. most vids dont explain the turn the dial method or whatever you call it. they say oh if you turn these it will work but dont explain it well. But holy fuck is that xbox loud when its open haha
this issue happens with so many of my cd drive based devices. I have 3 DVD Players at home that all have this issue. My XBox has this issue, too. Think it's time to take out my screwdrivers. Thanks man!
nice!! did a lil adjusting to the left an got games to play that would no longer read...tried to the right but cudnt even get the disc to spin but i tweaked it a lil bit an is working pretty smoothly...thanks a lot bro
So using 9:04 as a reference, the left screw is the one you moved to the right, correct? I know my laser needs an adjustment because the diode works, but the xbox just won't read the discs. I also had to let someone that was watching me work know, to back away and not stare directly into the laser..lol Any help you can give, I'd greatly appreciate because I'm nearing the point of buying a new drive and swapping out the diode/ spinner part and keeping to board so it won't have to be flashed.
excellent video i done that same thing to a old original microsoft xbox philips dvd reader i adjusted the laser and it plays legit audio cds burnt audio cds dvds xbox and xbox 360 games
Nice video, I only had to turn my left screw two hair- like turns to the left. Now both my games and dvd's work perfectly. though this isn't the first laser adjusting video that I have found. But it was still nice to find it. If you go left too far then you just need to turn it back to the right just a little bit. Also I didn't have to adjust the second screw once. :) good luck with getting your xbox game to test it out with.
(PART 1)you sir... are my god dam hero!!!! seriosuly! im on my 7th xbox now in a matter of 3 years... of course everyone but this one has been used. i finally said fuck it one day and up graded to the new 250gb slim.
You are the MAN!!!!!!!!! I've been havin trouble since BO2 came out, thought I was gonna need a new box, nope! Good s#!t man!!! I'd freakin kiss you if you here!!!! LOL J/K about the kiss.......
Planet Terror was directed by Robert Rodriguez not Tarantino, it was part of the Grindhouse double feature along with Death Proof which was directed by Tarantino. Just a minor correction. :) By the way, what is that intro movie from?
how do i fix the laser from going up against the disc while its being read? it spins like normal, but when the laser starts going up and down to read the disc,it hits the disc, making it jitter and shake around in the tray....im just wonderin
i turned the nob on the right side (the one that reads game disc's) it would spin the disc but no laser light's up then when i take down the intensity a bit NOW the disc won't spin but the laser turns on. solution?
Having annoying issues can you look at my vid please the laser doesn't even show through the disk I know the left screw adjusts laser brightness but how can I adjust it to work in my case look at my vide
Guys my xbox reads the disc for about two seconds & then stops reading it & also my laser is so small how do i make the laser thicker? Pleasee need help guys
it seems unbelieveable but im gonna try it and see what happens i dont have the tray issue just it not reading a disc with a minor donut scratch.....if this works i wont have to waste money on another xbox...
when the laser reads it is really weak and doesn't read the game.. only turns on when game begins to spin and when it stops spinning...laser flashes for a short second too help plz
What an opening! Too long But well done. And watch your language, son! Haha... And if all else fails, why NOT buy a new drive??? A factory replacement is only 25 bucks online!!
this is no great secret. i have seen this everywhere. and i have seen wayyy better videos explaining better how to do this. All this does is reduce the laser resistance and give it more power to read discs. you may need to do this because your laser looses power over time. If you over do it you will break your laser. So just be careful
Absolutely terrible tutorial. You mention nothing on how to test the resistance with a multimeter. Where do the positive and negative leads of the multimeter touch the laser? Do you disassemble the disc drive or leave it intact? Telling people to mess around with screws pots inside of their console is a sure fire way to have people burning out their lasers and ruining their disc drives.

1/3 turn on the left 1/8 turn on the right.
This fixed all my problems. The best TH-cam video on fixing the Xbox 360's disk error.

nice!! did a lil adjusting to the left an got games to play that would no longer read...tried to the right but cudnt even get the disc to spin but i tweaked it a lil bit an is working pretty smoothly...thanks a lot bro

You're a life saver and thank God for the internet!
You just saved me £80 in microsoft reservices. Thanks a million dude:)
Worked perfectly, I just turned both screw just a hair to the left and it worked great!
Cheers for the upload, had tried everything couldn't understand as it was reading dvds alright. but worked perfectly on the second attempt.
I'm still using the same Xbox that I bought in 2008! :)
Fixed my shit thanks man... Just turned mine a nicked width counter clockwise and it read everytime.
So using 9:04 as a reference, the left screw is the one you moved to the right, correct? I know my laser needs an adjustment because the diode works, but the xbox just won't read the discs. Thanks you helped me fix my 360 Thank you again man...!!!!!
how do you use the multimeter for this..you never showed that part
Just curious, if you turned both screws way too far than you have to just mess with it for eternity till it works?
My laser is a WHOLE lot dimmer than that. Should I adjust it more? And If i do and it works, will it fix the Unreadable Disc problem as well?
glad you fixed yours though.
@clearwaterTechnology which screw am I suppose to turn?
seriously youre fxcking amazing i was just about to throw my xbox away but only one tiny little screw a hair off was the problem
omg, I Can See The Red Laser! nice video :)
how do i fix the laser from going up against the disc while its being read? it spins like normal, but when the laser starts going up and down to read the disc,it hits the disc, making it jitter and shake around in the tray....im just wonderin

i turned the nob on the right side (the one that reads game disc's) it would spin the disc but no laser light's up then when i take down the intensity a bit NOW the disc won't spin but the laser turns on. solution?
So what should it be then? the first one to 3500 and the second one to what?
i got stuck with the second little screw

Top man!!!
It works... THANK YOU
Thanks, fixed mine!
planet terror isn't directed by quentin tarantino
I got up to the DvD part... I'll let you guys know if I get it working via video...
I've had my xbox flashed and apparently my laser is poor, do you think this will work for reading those discs and will i definatley need a multimeter?
the resistance in my laser was 6 Ohs so i slowly and gradually adjusted it and finally decreased it upto 3, still not working
Right so turn the square things to the left?
i will thanks mate..hopefully it works if not then..new laser len..thanks either way.
What if the thing I adjust comes off.. And I can't get back on...
nice bro thanks for helping me
Thanks, Thomas.
(Pun intended)
one is for dvds while the other is for regular cds u only need to adjust the dvd pot
Planet Terror is Robert Rodriguez. Death Proof was Quentin Tarantino. Don't insult Tarantino.

Thank You So Much!
Right screw...2mm to the right...boom im in first go...cheers.

what if the laser tweak didn't work? .-.
Thanks
thanks!!
I know this sounds incredible, but kicking your 360 fixes most problems. Try a lens cleaner first.
You replied to a year old comment and then had the nerve to put a -.- face?
Left is DVD right is CD
it works i did it jest tiwst it littil bit to the left or right
What an opening! Too long But well done. And watch your language, son! Haha...
And if all else fails, why NOT buy a new drive??? A factory replacement is only 25 bucks online!!

Yea I can barely see my laser through my CD. That shit too weak.
this is no great secret. i have seen this everywhere. and i have seen wayyy better videos explaining better how to do this. Longest intro ever
Since youre the newest comment here. Im gonna ask you if you know anything about the laser. Cause mine seems too high up.
@@ensvenskgrabb2834 do you got a heat sink for it?
Screws
E over I/R = ohms

Less intro is better dude.

I really can't fix this.

Annoying intro
