Movie did not deserve Oscar.. In India Gaddar did more than double business of Lagaan with a smaller budget.. Both were released on the same day.. Lagaan was underdog winning story which has been done many times & there was no novelty in the movie.. India's best chance was Mother India..
Gadar was an average masala movie.. lagaan had much higher standards.. there is no comparison.. but yes maybe lagaan was not an oscar type movie..
@@ragesh29 It depends on the viewer how he see's it, Gaddar was not fully Masala movie, It had emotion, drama & good songs moreover a subtle love story.. Its rated 7.2 on IMDB.. Lagaan a good film but was fully messed up with the overcooked cricket match.. People & Family first choice was Gaddar such was the success of Gaddar it was record breaking film in all centers despite clashing with Lagaan.. Gaddar never got its due..
Gadar was a normal story but Lagaan was an unique movie with a different theme and it totally deserved Oscar...You should have watched with patriotism feeling

Maybe not upto Oscars standards.. but way better than Bollywood standards.. and my Indian heart cried when it did not win..
