  • I've been noticing a lot of similarities between books, series, or even individual chapters in larger books that echo many of the common beats and themes of our favorite fairytales and princess stories, but with a darker twist and in the adult fantasy genre.
In this video I take a closer look at 3 instances of thesevdarkervtwists in princess stories popping up in modern adult fantasy.
Light spoilers for ACOTAR, by Sarah J. Maas.
Light spoilers (none really) for One Dark Window, by Rachel Gillig.
Heavy spoilers for Fugitive Prince, by Janny Wurts (Wars of Light and Shadow #4)
    Thanks for watching!

I've not been able to stop thinking about The 10th Kingdom since watching your video I've had to buy it! I used to love the Hallmark fairy tale adaptations, especially Snow Queen, when I was a kid it'll be interesting to see if they hold up today. Thanks for shaking my memories free.

Very interesting observation about Lady Talith! I was so overtaken by the tragedy I didn't even consider this aspect of the tale. Thank you for pointing that out!
