    A large attendance does not guarantee sales, especially in Chicago. People love to go to art and craft fairs for socializing, eating and drinking especially in the City. Its an event! Best tips to sell in Chicago markets is to have your own customer leads send invites to your own mailing list and offer incentives for those who show up. Best wishes on your future markets.

    Hi Sharese! My name is Ronea and I just discovered your channel! Thank you so much for documenting your experience. You actually caught me and my booth in your video lol I've done this market in 2023 and this time it was definitely slower. 2024 was just all around not great for markets 🤷🏿‍♀️ But I do hope to catch you in the wild for 2025 market season ❤

    Thank you for sharing your journey! I watched this VID a couple days ago and forgot to comment. I appreciate your vulnerability in sharing your market experience even when it didn't go as well as one would want. I did a few markets this year and this vid is like Deja Vu. It was basically like doing an experiment. I used the customer's questions and requests to make some changes for example quite a few asked if I had a MINI size of my products so I created some. People will pay more for minis in value than larger sizes because of the perceived lump of money they'd have to pay for larger items. For example they may not be willing to pay $35 dollars for a 8oz product but will pay $12 for a 2oz product. So If you sell four 2oz products (which totals 8oz) you will make $48 dollars vs. $35. SOme people seem more likely to buy the smaller ones they want to support but just want to stretch their dollars at markets. Also the higher booth rate events didnt work so well for me too though busy. Funny thing is I recently did a less expensive smaller event and made way more than the high cost ones. It's good you're testing things out to see which will be the right fit. All the best to you!!!❤

      @@SoulberryApothecary Thank youuu.. I created minis of my body butter but I only sell them as a trio box so maybe I should sell them individually instead… I pray your business continues to grow and thrive!🫶🏽

    • @SoulberryApothecary
      @SoulberryApothecary 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ Yes great idea! Selling them individually may also may push even more people towards the 3 pack when they see the individual one of the same size costs a little more by itself than the average price when you get the 3. Bless you for the sweet response and looking forward to seeing your biz go higher and higher.

    Omgosh I did the math on how much that market made! They made over $100,000 😱 and that’s crazy! But as you were walking through I did notice the separation on how well the other booths were doing as opposed to us . I attended a market that just an attendee and I noticed many of the small businesses didn’t care to sell to me. Those spaces are super prejudice - sad to say & this market totally gave me those vibes unfortunately.

    I hear you on the disappointment in sales at the vending event. With a fee that high I too would expect at least 40+ transactions per day. This year many vendors aren't doing as well at the big name events. Stay encouraged! I hope you meet your sales goals for the year nevertheless.

    Unfortunately I have heard Renegade has gone down. This year I had many artists go to the one in NY and their sales were down but the fees were up. I am still thinking about trying it one time just to test my business but every market is always a learning experience.

      The booth that was next to me has done the Chicago Renegade mutilple times (she actually travels from Miami to participate) she said every year she always does great but this year was just so so… but I definitely think it's worth trying at least once.. And if nothing more your business will see amazing foot traffic 💕

      Glad to meet other Black women Chicago business owners. I appreciate you sharing your experience. I have done markets since 2020 & they have definitely changed in a variety of ways, energy, costs, etc.
      I sell plants and home goods so it’s a different selling experience as opposed to skincare but I would never consider doing Renegade because I used to live down the street from Renegade and it is very “niche” as one of the other commenters mentioned.
      I opted out of markets this year mainly because it’s a lot of work for me to show up with all my fragile products & the size of my setup & I just didn’t feel like dealing with all the things, some of which you mentioned, parking etc

    Thank you so much for sharing this experience. I was considering the San Francisco Renegade Craft Fair but the fees seemed quite high and I wasn’t feeling like it would be a good first market for me & my business since it’s a 2 day event and I don’t have a lot of varied products yet. Call me wimpy, but I’d rather start with a 4-ish hour event/market 😂 as my first one. Sorry that this wasn’t a good experience for you, that sucks, but you sharing your experience really helps me feel like I made the right choice to skip it this year. I know for me personally, I’m not spending as much at markets these days, even though I do like to go and walk around and I think that’s true for a lot of folks right now. 🩶
