    Love it! Can't wait to start this one. Has anyone tried using heavyweight denim? I want to try it with denim. Maybe let the top fray.

    • @SallieTomato
      @SallieTomato  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a great idea! We have not tried this to see how it would sew up but it would be a fun option to try. Please note that this pattern was designed for fabrics that do not fray so you would have to consider that on the edges and seams. Happy Sewing to you!

    I just finished this bag today and I absolutely love it. I added extra pockets but otherwise followed the tutorial exactly and it turned out great. I even found faux leather in the same color shade as the example. I will definitely be making more in some other colors.

    I've been searching for a basic tote pattern that I can add my own touches to and this is just perfect. I love that it has straight sides and not angled out. Really great video and excellent teacher. Thank you so much.

    Thank you for this pattern! I'm cutting it out right now using your faux leather, which is just so beautiful and has a much nicer feel than other faux leathers I've used. I'm going to put a lining in mine.

    I made this bag, and I love it. I scaled down the dimensions to match a bag that I currently own. I made it for a dear friend, because she wanted a bag like mine. She also made some birthday souvenir boxes for me. My bag is 20 years old, and store bought. Hers look better than mine! LOL Thanks sooo much.

    • @SallieTomato

      Thats a great idea! We recommend trying this on scrap fabric first to make sure your pockets, seam allowance ,etc is the way you want it to look before making your final bag.

    You know, i design and create tote bags, but, part of my method is using canvas tote bags that are already made. what i do is take it apart and cut and recreate them with my design using different fabrics. it's like "upcycling the bag" but i am intrigued with a new way of making a COMPLETE tote bag and i find this method very well done. I LIKE THIS! I WANT TO DO THIS! THANK YOU, SALLIE TOMATO! *sudden happy visions of Audrey Hepburn from "BREAKFAST AT TIFFANYS" pop up*

    How much faux leather or cork fabric do you need to make this bag? It looks like both fabrics are 25" wide.

    • @SallieTomato
      @SallieTomato  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For this pattern you need 2 pieces 32 " x 25" for all pieces to be made from. Make sure to share you finished project at #sallietomato. Happy Sewing!!

    Can you make this bag with a cotton fabric.

    • @SallieTomato
      @SallieTomato  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for commenting. We recommend for best results to use a faux leather or cork fabric to provide the most stability to the tote and because this pattern was designed specifically for these types of fabrics. We have not tried it with cotton. You can try making a sample in your desired fabric to see how you may like it but again we have not tested this. Thank you for watching and happy sewing!

    If I want to line the bag, how about the inside pocket?

    • @SallieTomato
      @SallieTomato  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could sew the inside pocket to the lining instead. You'd have to install the snaps to the lining pieces as well.

    How do you know how much faux leather to buy when you sell it by the inch?

    • @SallieTomato
      @SallieTomato  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pattern calls for 32 inches so you'll buy a quantity of 32. All of our fabric is sold in 1 inch increments. We will cut a continuous piece for you. Faux Leather is 25-27″ wide. For example, if you want a 1/4 yard, change the quantity to 9 and you'll receive a piece that is 9" by 25" wide. By selling fabric by the inch, there's less waste because you receive the exact amount you need! :)
