I like how SM doesn’t usually put their trainees in surival shows, instead they promote them on their own and I think that’s a great thing since you don’t fully expose the idols to the public and therefore leaves something for us to wait on.
Because tbh in sm they are so many trainees that are all rounders and the training system is just so hard so it's a whole arena for survival for debut off cam already so they would not need them in a survival show on cam

SM itself is a survival show. SM has so many trainees that they could definitely host a survival show within themselves.
I know this is probably gonna upset some people but personally whenever I watch a survival show I forget about them by the time they debut. For example, I was really into produce 2 and produce 48, but I couldn't keep up with them during their debut because it feels like I've seen more than enough about them that it just.. I don't know, I think it's because there isn't much to see other than their improvement but even that I can watch a compilation later on. I've seen too much of these idols, I've seen their struggles and it feels like it's more than enough already, I could be watching other rookies that I have yet to learn something from/about.
With SM however we only get to see the trainees after they've proven themselves more than enough and there's already some sort of plan for them (even though it could take a while between their introduction as a rookie and their actual debut) and we don't get bombarded with their past or seeing their struggles until much later when the artists themselves share those stories like anecdotes and it doesn't feel as invasive. There's always something new we can learn from/about an SM artist because we don't know that much of them before they get to their proper debut, if anything we have pictures but there's no context to them.
I know we joke a lot about the basement and the trainees that are kept there, but all in all I'm glad they do that. Not many idols get to see their debut stages where their only regret is the styling.

This may sound harsh but this video is the reason nctzen need to stop complaining about how many lines Johnny and Yuta get. They are still here and we need to appreciate what they give us. Even if we want more. 3 years ago they made this video with ten and hansol. Now hansol is no longer with SM and we’re lucky to see Ten outside of the dorms. Johnny and Yuta have been able to promote with 127 for every comeback(ofc minus Johnny in fire truck) and yet nobody is grateful instead everybody just whines that we don’t get to hear them sing. I get it, I want to hear them sing, too, but for now I’m more than happy to just see them all happy together. Hansol will forever be a member of NCT in our hearts. We have this video as proof.

I get your argument but I still see nothing wrong with people pointing out line distribution. Hansol is still around and promoting also, though in a new group.

Song making is not easy, especially with 10 members. And imagine working really hard like Yuta and Johnny do and having your fans point out what you don’t have instead of what you do?? this is a very strong dance line but sadly for a grup its not enough... jaehyun vocal cant carried the whole group, ten and yuta can sing but their vocal range arent as wide as the vocal line hence why they are subvocal&subrapper... johnny and hansol are definately a rapper along with TY.. soooo,,, maybe a dance unit plus doyoung? i mean doyoung can keep up with this 6 ppl cuz he's been covering for yuta when he cant perform this dance at smtown... so this unit still possible with addition of doyoung

Showcasing one member over others is essential for groups to be successful in exposure.
Anyone remember how much Exposure Kai, Yoona, Sulli, G Dragon, CL, Mino, B.I, L, Tablo etc got? A lot. It's a very common and the smartest way to market groups especially newer ones. ALL companies are guilty of this. No one will remember the whole group right off the bat so they take steps. In EVERY very successful group there is at least one person that the company markets the most.

Also, Taeyong really hasn't changed a bit lol. Even his style is pretty similar.
