Marranos do Sertão

A good part of Brazilians are descendants of the "new christians", as the jews that were obliged to convert to Christianism during the Spanish and Portuguese Inquisition were known. Many of them always kept the old faith and were called by the derrogative name of "marranos". In many brazilian cities, specially in the northeast of the country, many of their descendants, separated for centuries from their own culture, are rediscovering Judaism.
