The 2022 South African Science, Technology And Innovation Indicators Report reveals a disappointing decline in researchers and technicians.
Higher Education Minister, Dr Blade Nzimande, says the country’s National System of Innovation has been stretched to the limit, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The report also found that South Africa’s innovation performance is falling behind other middle-income countries.
