I feel like essential oils is a subject we need to know more about. There is so much misinformation about it, especially with MLMs and health claims. Thank you for shedding light, Ive been using them all wrong in my baths, thankfully I never had a reaction
You are so right. I just recently found out that using essential oils in the diffusers are extremely unhealthy for your pets. My cat has developed a cough that I just knew wasn't a hairball cop somehow I put two and two together researched and essential oils very bad for your pets.
Actually there's a book by a chemist who has studied Essential Oils for over 30 years and he says the opposite and that you can add essentials oil to a bath without diluting them (if you are not allergic to me) , doing it this way it's suppose to absorb into your system and work better but of course you want to do a patch test first to make sure you don't have any sensitives to the eo but I think things get confusing when a lot people start making videos to look like a professional and give misinformation, I'm sure some have done research and just sharing what they have learned but you have be careful and try to get information from a professional or research real studies that have been done
as soon as you said 'peppermint' I panicked on your behalf it's such a powerful substance and a little goes a LONG way. Although when I have bad sinus infections I will dilute a single drop of peppermint oil into a quart of freshly boiled, sterilized water and use that as a sinus rinse. It really helps clear everything out.
Excellent video. I recently read an article written by someone CLAIMING to understand essential oils. She allowed her daughter to choose an oil for her bath. The daughter chose cinnamon. They ended up at the Emergency Room. We each have to assume responsibility for our well being--and DO THE RESEARCH! Thank you for providing us with all this information!
About 5 years ago I used a lemon essential oil, either my skin is sensitive or I added too much because my skin felt itchy and like it was burning...but there was no redness. I immediately got out and scrubbed everything down in the shower. So much for a relaxing bath 😅
I haven’t read up on this but my educated guess would be that mixing the essential oils with soap first and then put in the water should keep them from interacting with your skin as well. (Chemist)
Love this series! I have watched so many friends go in deep with YL essential oils, who heavily encourage ingestion (or at least the did--haven't kept up). I would love to see a video about essential oil use in oil-based skincare products (balms, face oils, etc.).
Can you please talk about essential oil vapes? People keep pushing them and they are dangerous af. (Edit- I also work in a lab (microbiology) and I left comments on Kendall Rae's videos because she is sponsored by Monq- and her fans came at me saying I needed to shut up and let people do what they want lol. And one girl said "well you dont INHALE THEM" and i was like... ???? Okay but that doesnt mean the particles wont get in your respiratory system?? Lol. I guess people need a more trusted voice. People think its cute and trendy to smoke essential oils but its dangerous. Theres still little research on it too.
For the love of god don't vape oils. The whole Juul debacle is due to vitamin e oil used as thickener in illegal thc pods. Regular vape fluid is mainly glycerin and glycerol.
@@k-isfor-kristina Glycerin and glycerol aren't safe either. nih . gov addresses this. So much information out there regarding essential oils. People do NOT put essential oils in your pets. Do not run diffuser's in rooms where your pet can't leave. Do not ingest essential oils. Thank you for the video and getting the word out. You're awesome!
Hey Kenna, curious about what you said regarding bathbombs. Most commercial bathbombs have essential oils, a carrier oil, citric acid and epsom salts. In these formulas, chemically, the essential oils render the effects of the salts useless? Can you explain that more?
A Solubilizer is ideal for essential oils baths. Polysorbate or even just a little body wash, bubble bath or liquid soap would be an excellent way to properly dilute eos in bath. Many bathbombs use poly80 for that reason.
I did the peppermint oil bath about 7 drops with a not hot but not cold bath and I thought it was amazing it felt cooling and smelt great the way I would describe it is the same feeling as freshly shaved legs on the finest silk sheets I know she said it was bad but I’ve did it for 20 years and i have never had any problems
Interesting. I add 5 drops of eucalyptus to my bath water about once a week. Other days I add vanilla or lavender. No issues. Just a pleasant smell. Eucalyptus also provides a cooling sensation that I enjoy, and it opens my sinuses.
I just tried doing some whole milk and some lemongrass using the 1/4 cup to 5 drops. It's my first time using essential oils in my bath and so far no irritation whatsoever. I'll post an update if that changes but I'm super happy I found this video instead of finding out the hard way of how not to use them! 😂 thank you for the informative video because I probably would've seriously damaged my skin without it!
Hay everyone out there I just recently found out essential oils in the diffusers are very unhealthy for your pets. There are three or four that are acceptable but I sure haven't enjoyed this sent. My cat was developing a terrible cough and I just knew it wasn't a hairball cough so I put two and two together researched and found out that essential oils are not good for your pets. Please spread the word.
Oooo my goodness, thank you so much for this I’ve been adding lavender oil to my bath 🛀 for a while. However I’ve suffered from chronic yeast infection. I am assuming this is because I have just added the lavender straight into my bathwater. Had no idea you had to mix it or it could be harmful to your skin.
What about Tea Tree oil in the bath? I think I am experiencing a skin fungus issue that I unknowingly spread from my feet. I've heard of using Tea Tree oil to treat foot fungus so I was thinking of adding it to a hot bath to treat all the affected areas at once. What do you think?
I experienced this when I took a bath 🛀 last night with an essential oil I had an allergic reaction to it I quickly got out the bath tub and drained the water and put in fresh warm water and it stopped it. That was a horrible experience I thought I had to go to the emergency at first. I do add essential oils to my choice of body wash that are healthy body washes.
Thank you for another amazing video! Could you please do a video about how to use essential oils in a diffuser? Would be really interesting to hear a more scientific outlook on that too :)
I used the an essential oil in my bath just last night and I started having an allergic reaction to it. I quickly jumped out and drained my bath water. It was so horrible I was itching and my skin started turning red. I ran some fresh warm water and got in and I felt so much better it stopped. I add essential oils to a healthy body wash and that works good for me.
Hey Kenna, I have a skincare question. How do you feel about using bio oil on the face as a moisturizer/serum?! I find it the best for my dry irritated skin however I worry it’s too heavy for the face and pores...? Thanks!!!
Great video, Kenna! I have anxiety disorder, and nothing calms me like Frankincense! I don’t like the smell of Lavender, so I’m glad Frank works so well. I need to try your other suggestions though.
Very helpful! Thank you! I just recently purchased a Bain Ultra with Aroma therapy. They suggest adding 2 drops into the reservoir with a cup of water. If you have any suggestions regarding Aroma Therapy system I would love to know. Also, what brand of essential oils is better? Are they all essentially the same? Thanks Again. Very much!!!
Please talk about Brightening agents, for example Alpha Arbutin, Vitamin C, which form of Vitamin C is the most efficient, Niacinamide, Kojic Acid and how to use them, side effects etc. Also please talk about controversial ingredients like Hydroquinone etc.
I just got my Altilis beauty set in the mail today and I'm very excited to try it!! I've been loving this essential oil series, are there any harms with diffusing oils? I am relatively new to oils but just use them in a diffuser
I use them in a wax melter. I haven't heard of any negative effects from them for humans (unless the person has a preexisting issue such as a bad flare up with their asthma or something like that) but apparently some can be harmful to different kinds of animals eg fish and birds. I don't know enough to be more specific though so it may be worth looking further into it. 😊
I don’t know about diffusing oils being harmful to humans, but I do know tea tree essential oil is toxic to dogs. A family friend couldn’t figure out why their dog was sick all the time. Turns out it was from the oils!
My daughter was gifted a bath bomb kit for Christmas and we haven't cracked into it yet. She has severe tree nut allergies so the "build your own" approach is the best way to avoid almond oil (it's in many commercial products). Could you do a video recommending appropriate additives for bath bombs? I like the idea of milk but not sure how to make that work for her.
Off topic but I forgot to ask in the Nutrogena video, did you try the Hydro Boost City Shield/sunscreen from that range? I have combination skin and am trying to find a sunscreen that I can use daily that won't cause my T-Zone and hair line to erupt in spots. I use the Nivea Daily Essentials Oil Free moisturiser during the day but it doesn't have any SPF or any kind of skin protection from pollution or the sun etc. The other one I am looking at is the Cetaphil Daily Defense moisturiser with SPF 50. Obviously the Cetaphil has SPF50 instead of SPF25 that the Nutrogena one has but are they both the same kind of thing or is one better than the other in your opinion? I am really new to taking care of my skin so don't really know what I am doing yet so any help or advice would be massively appreciated. Also as low budget as possible is necessary as I am living on disability benefits due to poor health causing me to not be able to work and here in the UK the money isn't very much at all. Thanks again for any help you can give me. I really enjoy your videos that give an opinion based on science rather than just experience, are you a dermatologist? 😊
I once accidentally spilt oregano e.o. on my hand, forgot I'd not screwed dropper cap back on properly when I was putting it back into a cupboard. covered most of my left hand and splashed wrist / arm. before thinking too much I went and washed my hand under the tap and using washing up liquid. oh. my. days. burnt like hell for about a couple hours. having watched this now know would have been better to use milk or olive oil. tmyk.
Thank you for the tip about the oil not allowing the Epsom Salts magnesium to absorb into the skin. Duh! I've been bathing that way a couple times a week for many years. No wonder the baths don't seem to help my muscle aches. I only googled because I wanted to try a new essential oil and didn't want the same experience I had with Peppermint Oil, ya that was unpleasant. LOL
So if I wanted to add cilantro essential oil to my bathtub can it be mix with adding body wash to the bathtub too. Like essential oil followed by body wash? Just want to get a clarification before making a move.
For essential oil applications, how do you recommend I apply them on my skin? I have dry skin that of course is oily to compensate and all the hand washing lately is making it worse. I was thinking a shea butter and coconut oil mix with maybe another essential oil (and I haven't given much time admittedly) and would love to hear your perspective/advice.
Hi Kenna ILY and you have influenced me greatly. Could you talk about the ultimate anti aging preventions for your skin like antioxidants and spf, stuff like that? 😍🙏🏼
Hey Kenna ... I didn’t get a notification for this video 😫 anyhow hopefully you’ll see my comment 🤞🏼 so can you go a little more in-depth with essential oils, like what would lime/orange/lemon oils good for, what benefit are they to the skin, that kind of thing please. Thank you Kenna #sciencebabe right here. 💕🌺💕
So there's a lot of contradicting information on the internet on essential oils and now I wonder if it's a safe thing to use vaginally. I've heard a few youtubers talk about using lavender and evening primrose essential oil in the vagina with perineal massages to prep for labor and I wonder if this can cause harm or actually do good? Could you maybe do a video on this?
Hi Kenna! A while ago you talked about a research you were doing about breadfruit compounds and their effects for the skin. Is that paper being published? I'm very curious about it!:)
Here because I just did the same thing with a bath and my skin is BURNING. I’m scared :/ what do I do to help the burning. Am I going to wake up with a chemical burn all over my skin?
i was having a bath and i thought ok,let me drop few drops of peppermint oil..14 drops later i was like uhh the bath now feels kinda chilling...seconds away i was freezing i was going crazy but i thought right after to wash my skin with soap THANK GOD lol(not just wash it,i have a very strong japanise sponge, basically i too didnt know what to do and luckly i felt relieved and after i appleid jojoba oil)! we had the same expirience and we both love chemistry and beauty! wishes from Italy :)

I clicked on this video while sitting in a bath... that I had put peppermint essential oil in. I feel very dumb (and cold!) right now

Lol Don’t vape. So trashy
Farah Ng any foreign contaminants in the lung, chimney smoke, burned cloves, water vapor, etc is bad for the lungs
Vaping essential oils is a thing? Sounds like a new way to get acute bronchitis or a lung infection to me...

I loved the half cold hot feeling was relaxing
Peppermint is just a cooling oil period. Whenever I had used any peppermint lotions from bath and body works, it would light my skin on fire lol.

Any thoughts on adding tea tree oil to a bath?
I had a bath salt bath with Peppermint essential oil and didn’t have any adverse reactions to it
Thx just had added too much of pine never thought of emulsifier necessity
what if I don't have any milk but lactaid or almond milk in the house ? Could I use either of those ?
Can you mix oils with alternative milks also? oat, almond, coconut ? Would the effect still be the same?

I wanna do this tomorrow and I’ve been researching all day
Does it matter the type of milk? Would almond or coconut milk work or just cows milk. Thank you love your videos!!💕
What are milk alternatives for vegan for bath usage? What would work best?
I'm being bitten alive with bed bugs I wanted to take a bath what would you recommend on the formula
can i use almond milk in my bath..
Just use milk

Can I use tea tree in the bathtub
what about frankencense? in the bath
If we want to use epsom salts, but we don't want to use cow milk, could we use soy milk or any plant-based milk instead? :)
I neither have a a bath or do I use essential oils. But this is very good info.
Video starts 3:10
Could coconut milk or another non dairy milk work?
thank you for this vid!
So much information! Thank you 🙏🏽
Very informative. Thankyou.
I HAD THE SAME PEPPERMINT OIL EXPERIENCE 😂🤣😆🤣😂😆😂
i was having a bath and i thought ok,let me drop few drops of peppermint oil..14 drops later i was like uhh the bath now feels kinda chilling...seconds away i was freezing i was going crazy but i thought right after to wash my skin with soap THANK GOD lol(not just wash it,i have a very strong japanise sponge, basically i too didnt know what to do and luckly i felt relieved and after i appleid jojoba oil)! we had the same expirience and we both love chemistry and beauty! wishes from Italy :)

Happy to find you
Wow this is very useful information thank you!
THANK YOU
I had the same experience as you! Wow!!!!
I use fir oil when ill or having the flu. I speak about it on my channel in the video about ways to heal a flu naturally
Hi Kenna❤
great tips!!!
I was just taking my bath with essential oil’s when I heard not to do it
Yikes 😬
I did this in water and it made me super cold
About a year ago I used orange essential oil in my bath thinking it’d smell lovely and I’d have a nice time. Well in about twenty minutes I jumped out of the bathtub crying because it burned me all over. Never making that mistake again. I’m weary of most oils now.
I used essential oils in a hot bath once and ended up with hashes all over my back. I think my skin can't take it.... i love the smell though
Great video. I always learn so much.
Nice. l dit it tremendous fragrance you came out the shower.l think you trow a lot of drops it,s only 7 drops on the bathtub water, l trow it too. after l do poop, l flush it & trow 7 drops, for the bad odor of the fragrance oil, the essential oil is natural & everything, but the smell is not strong!
Wow you are so pretty💗
She's really done her studying.
This just popped up but a few years ago, I also gave myself a chemical burn on my butt using peppermint essential oil straight in my bath water! Never did it again! Looked like someone ashed a cigarette on my ass for a few months 😂😩
Watching this in a bath with peppermint oil 🥶🥶😅😅
I just took a lavender bath :'(
Me watching this in bath wondering if this is ok shit
you and Hyram= iconic
Hyram doesn't know anything
I got a huge rash all over my butt from doing this !
I was the 1k like
You remind me of kim Johansson
You shouldn’t be making videos on essential oils. You need to do your research.
I love essential oils
