Through all these George Carlin clip you see how his comedy got darker and darker the older he got. Whether you like the direction his comedy went you have to admit that he always, always made you think. He is a master class in critical thinking.
George opened up my "think box" decades ago, and I love him for doing to for me.

Daylight savings time was created in WW2. Some places like here in CA. just won't get rid of it.
As a kid growing up in the 50's and playing outside, my mom would say, be sure your back in the house as dusk or when the street lamps come on. It is true, as a kid, time was not a factor, but dusk or the street lamps provided a visual reference to be home.
How true. Growing up in the early 60s, it was the same for myself. In the summer months, us kids would sit on some kids front porch after sunset and talk as young kids do, (with our parents permission). This was our social media. About 10 pm we'd have to go home. Like you, this was the best part of growing up.
I grew up listening to his albums , not always with my parents knowing , Class Clown , Toledo Window Box , Occupation Foole and more. give his nursery rhymes bit a listen . his "7 dirty words " is still the funniest thing I've heard .

No, we have day light saving time. Last sunday we changed back to winter time. (Sweden).

Arizona has never had daylight savings time changes. I don't understand why others would put up with losing time
and our TIME is different than anywhere else. Our time is the revolution around the sun. Mars has different time than us.
One of my favorites by him. It's prompted many a discussion about time. Some more interesting than others, depending on certain chemicals that may have been involved. I seem to recall a discussion about 30 years ago where we decided that instead of saying "I'd like that now," we would say "I'd like that in the nearest future I can get it." 😏

Now having family who are farmers, and still work a full time job, DST comes in handy so when they get home in the summer, there are still 3 more hours of daylight to work on the fields. I guess we are the only ones who produce so much that we done have TIME for it if the sun goes down too early. This is why I think WE need a time change. We have crap to do, AFTER WORK.

You mentioned his voice. At this stage in this point in his career, he was still finding his true voice. He still had a lot of his previous identity, in his rhythm and his mannerisms and his tone. He didn't truly find his voice, the one we know him for, until the 1990's.
After watching your vid on time as George Carlin picks it apart I also started thinking about the way we see time, as Linear. In a straight line. The past was, now is here and the future is tomorrow. But what if you thought in a non- linear sense. That the past, present and future are all going on at the same moment in time. That you could examine the past or the future as it occurs. Nothing to wonder about how something happened or will happen because you can see it if you look. Now I can say that you are making this video and I'm watching it while you are reading my comment all at the same time. But we just can't think that way. It doesn't make sense. Or, maybe we can. The concept of the life here after. When you get there time does not mater. You're there for eternity, you're just there always. And from the time you arrive, everyone that came before you, and all that arrived after you will appear to have to have always been there. I should message you this on your Facebook so you'll read it in time, Ha!

Europe does have daylight savings. In fact we'll be changing the time in the last Saturday/Sunday of this month.
Its amazing that after hearing one George Carlin album it can make you rethink your entire life He took standup comedy to another level and we should forever grateful for that.
I've never laughed so hard in my life listening to George. Had his comedy albums back in high school and saw him twice back in the late seventies, early eighties.

Time is a measurement we made up to measure movement. If there's no movement, you can't measure time because there is no time.
Daylight Savings Time was set up in the US during World War I, in order to get military weapons and supplies factories to have longer days in production, and more daylight for war fighting. It was reinstated during World War II, and has been in use in the US ever since then. During the Clinton Administration, the US Government set up a more balanced approach to the time changes, by having them take place in April and October every year. When the War On Terrorism began in 2001, The US Government ended this practice, and set up the current time changes in use today to provide more daylight for war fighting. Yes, a number of states do not observe Daylight Savings Time, and in the State of Indiana, DST observance differs from county to county. Truck drivers have to take this into consideration when making their pickups and deliveries.

We do have the same daylight saving time in Europe but it starts 2 weeks after America changes it.

Carlin was a student of the English language and used it in so many different, thought provoking ways. He was a master of illustrating how language manipulates thought and culture. I think he was a genius.

Europe DOES have daylight saving times. Just like the UK does and the US does.
Also the terms 'moment' and 'jiffy' are actual units of time. A moment is 90 seconds and a jiffy is around 1 nanosecond. To put that into perspective, if a nanosecond was equal to a second, then a second would be 32 years.

I grew up with George’s albums always amazed at his thought provoking ideas and introduced him to the friends in my neighborhood. His skits followed those early albums, look for Occupation: Foole for your next reaction. Love your reactions, you are a lovely young woman.

Hi Britt. I don’t know if you read comments or not, but you mentioned in a recent video that you once drove for Uber Eats. I deliver Door Dash nights and weekends as needed to supplement my small business income and February was BAD. So I’ve been out almost every night the last two weeks delivering and every night I play your comedy reactions. You upload so many everyday, it just feels like we’re chilling in the car together laughing at stuff all night. You don’t really say a whole lot or react a great deal, but it’s just a great vibe to be hanging out and laughing together. Thanks for your videos ❤

I've been driving a school bus for about a year now, so I have a close relationship with time seeing as how there are parts of my route where I need to be at such and such stop at such and such time.
But... it's also starting to screw with me on my DAYS OFF...
TYPICALLY I wake up at 5:15AM to get ready to leave. I actually leave at 5:45AM and head to work.
My internal clock for I don't even know HOW long on the weekends? I find myself waking up at around the time I should be LEAVING for work and telling my clock to go fuck itself. :P
Daylight savings time only exists cuz as Americans and Canadians we have giant countries and the earth can only move so fast against the sun. It’s not perfect by any means.
But in Europe you have like 30 countries all in a small space. Like driving from Georgia to California is all of Europe. It makes sense. Else give it ten years it would be nighttime at 3pm.

Something I learned recently: around this era of George's career, Rick Moranis did an impression of him on SCTV, poking fun at his style of comedy. This infuriated George so much, that he decided to change his whole style. That's when we started seeing the George Carlin of the 80s and 90s.
I've tried looking for the Rick Moranis skit, but all I found was a short clip called "Underrated Vegetables."

😂 They still had time they used the sun, shadows the moon and stars. It's not learned, it had to be studied and understood. Daylight savings was implemented to maximize the work day as the sun rises and sets earlier and later through the year it started during the industrial revolution to make the work day stay in the daylight hours, its also where the term time is money came from. The Mayan, Egiption and Hindu Callander were more exact than the system we have now and they had no leap year they followed the cycles of the Sun and stars. And again our 24 hour day was to optimize the consistance and productivity of the standard work day. Hope this connects some of the questioning thoughts you got running. Lol
Also, a Confucian idea -- If you have one clock, you know what time it is. If you have more than one, you're never really sure.

Just to help blow your mind. Part of Einstein's Theory of Relativity is that it does not mean anything to talk about where you are unless you also talk about when you are. Think about that in you daily life. Where you are always includes time along with it.
